Alice
Diagnosed with: Avoidant personality disorder

From the beginning, her personality disorder was inevitable. She was born to a rich couple who neither cared for her nor paid attention to her. She greatly vied for their attention; they either ignored her or criticized her for being so needy. In the end, she withdraw from wanting their attention. The same happened at school: she tried to make friends, was shot down by criticism, and withdrew. Her timidity only made her situation worse. She allowed the words to get to her. Eventually, she avoided talking to people, group activities, and any other related activity in general. Her teachers became greatly concerned about her. They made inquiries as to her home situation. A counselor questioned her; she refused to speak. The counselor then turned to her parents. Her parents answered for her as if their daughter was stupid. The counselor explained her severe withdrawal from social situations, inquiring about a mental examination. Her parents waved their hands and them do whatever. They did as they liked. They examined her and diagnosed her with having avoidant personality disorder. The analysts suggested a top institution to her for slow integration into social situations for others like her. Her parents seized back their control and ended up throwing her in the ramshackle South London Sanatorium. She brings with her everywhere a white bunny doll, given to her by her aunt who rarely visits her. She secretly yearns for a deep friendship with someone, but she is afraid of more rejection. She keeps herself at bay to protect herself.

Alice's first friend at the asylum was the Cheshire Cat. She is attracted to the Mad Hatter and is scorned by the Queen of Hearts and the White Rabbit.

The Mad Hatter
Diagnosed with: Histrionic personality disorder

He was born into an asylum to a single, crazed woman. His mother was diagnosed with having paranoid schizophrenia. He never knew who his father was. His mother developed a severe phobia of her own son. Because of this, he was separated from his mother and given a room of his own. At a young age, he began showing mild signs of schizophrenia. The nurses responsible for him brought him to the main doctor. There, he was diagnosed with having a mild form of disorganized schizophrenia.

As time passed, the little boy grew into a delusional young man. He lived halfway between reality and his own world. When he read Lewis Carroll's Alice books, he became completely addicted to the storyline. Before long his own world was Wonderland. He deemed himself the Mad Hatter. Everyone was a pawn; he had yet to find the one he would call "Alice." He dressed seductively and attempted to entice many of the female patients and nurses into being his Alice. None of them relented; he was rejected many times. Each rejection sent him spiraling into a moderate depression. Sometimes his depressions were so severe that he had to take medication to calm himself. Finally, this was brought to the attention of the head doctor. He ran over the Hatter's symptoms and once again diagnosed the young man, this time with histrionic personality disorder. In a fit of rage, the Hatter's mother killed herself. She was deemed a short, brief funeral service. The Hatter didn't attend. He was transferred to a downscale sanatorium in the south of London. He quickly adjusted to his new home. He was able to discover the Queen of Hearts, the Chesire Cat, the White Rabbit, the Tweedle twins, and other characters. Of course, the newest patient fascinated him. Soon, he became obsessed with her and was intent on making her his Alice.

The Mad Hatter is good friends with the Cheshire Cat. He desires to have Alice for himself. Overall, he is scorned by the other patients for his promiscuity.

The Queen of Hearts
Diagnosed with: Antisocial personality disorder

She was born to a poor English couple in the slums of southern London. Her father worked as a janitor. He often came home in an alcoholic rage. Her mother was an aspiring fashion designer who ended up working as a the neighborhood seamstress. When drunk, her father frequently beat her mother. In turn, her mother beat her so hard she began to take it out on the kids at school. She was placed in detention and even arrested several times. Other times, she was able to charm her way out of trouble. Eventually, her mother ended up retaliating and killing her father. Her mother was arrested and she was gathered into a foster care. She continued her violence towards others. Social services gathered her and had her examined. She was diagnosed with having antisocial personality disorder and dropped into Southern London for rehabilitation. In the hospital, she frequently hits and thrashes violently at others, calling, "Off with their head!" Her favorite color is red and her favorite shape a heart. When not violent, she is frequently seen playing with her deck of cards. She is close to the White Rabbit. Overall, she keeps to herself. She doesn't like Alice or The Mad Hatter.

The Chesire Cat
Diagnosed with: Schizotypal personality disorder

No one in his family had the disorder. And no one blamed him for getting it. The Cat was born to a fairly average couple in the heart of London. His parents loved him dearly. Once he was old enough to play with other children, they noticed that he acted strangely. He didn't say or do the strange things normal of children. He was afraid of them. Surely, they believed, it must be simply because he was shy. When they passed a pet shop while going for groceries, a dark gray kitten, nearly purple, caught the Cat's eye. He begged for it day and night until his parents relented on the day of his birthday. The cat, who he called "Barbados," was his most treasured companion, and Barbados loved him in return. His parents weren't worried about the time he spent with his pet. Until, of course, he began mimicking it. The odd behavior continued and gradually progressed to a point where the Cat dressed up like it. He acted like a cat at school and at home. His parents were deathly worried and had a mental doctor examine him. He was diagnosed as having a schizotypal personality disorder.

Life for the Cat and his parents went down from there. His behavior became extremely antisocial. Withdrawing from attending school altogether, he stayed home and played with Barbados. His parents took Barbados from him. As a young child, he was taken from his parents and shoved into the South London Sanatorium. There, he kept to himself and was happy believing he was a cat.

The Cheshire Cat is Alice's first friend at the asylum. He is also on good terms with the Hatter.

The White Rabbit
Diagnosed with: Bipolar Disorder

The Rabbit was born into a poor family. Her father was abusive; her mother had severe depression; and her older brother did recreational drugs. Much of her childhood was unpleasant, as she was beaten by her father and isolated from her mother. To escape her problems, the Rabbit turned to her brother's drugs and her father's alcohol. Taking the two helped her to run away, even only for a short time. Unfortunately, the mixture of drugs and alcohol caused something in her to change. One day, Rabbit felt impossibly happy; when she arrived home from school, she saw her father beating her mother. Within an instant, her euphoria snapped into extreme rage. Rabbit cracked an empty beer bottle and attacked her father. The Rabbit put her father in the hospital with severe injuries to the chest, the neck, and the face, but he survived. As for the Rabbit, she was placed in the care of child services and, once evaluated, into the custody of psychiatric officials to get proper treatment. Through her childhood and into her teenaged years did the Rabbit live within the asylum. In her time there, she became close friends and fell in love with the Mad Hatter. However, it was not to be; the Hatter rejected her affections for other females. She hates him to this day.

The White Rabbit is fast friends with the Queen of Hearts. However, the White Rabbit hates Alice, the Mad Hatter, and everybody else in the asylum.

The Caterpillar
Diagnosed with: Depersonalization-derealization Disorder

As a child, the Caterpillar lived a relatively normal life. However, he was kidnapped off the street at age ten. He was heading home from school when two masked men came out of nowhere and abducted him into a black van. From there, the young boy was knocked out and brought to an unknown location. For six years, the Caterpillar endured relentless physical and mental abuse from his captors, coming close to being killed several times. Over time, Caterpillar began to see things from outside his body, supposedly as an escape from his torture. After a long time, the boy was recovered and returned home to his parents. Unfortunately, the Caterpillar was too far gone to live in daily society. Eventually, he was sent off to a sanatorium to receive treatment for his disorder.

The Caterpillar and the March Hare are both friends and foes. Their relationship depends on the day and how good they feel towards each other. Sometimes they are fighting, other times they are rapidly conversing.

The March Hare
Diagnosed with: Oppositional defiant disorder

The March Hare is a young man who grew up in a sketchy neighborhood. Walking the streets of his neighborhood, he would observe regular violence from the local gangs. Much of it terrified him at first, but then he became used to it. Unbeknowst to him, his habits also became more violent. The Hare had no father, as he had abandoned his mother after he impregnated her. He and his mother lived together in a rundown apartment. His mother was rarely home during much of his time at home, so he usually did things alone or with other neighborhood kids. No one ever attempted to discipline the Hare for his actions. Thus, he became brasher and more violent in his personality. After several mishaps at school, many of which included assaulting (verbally and physically) teachers and peers, the Hare was sent for treatment in a sanatorium.

The March Hare has a good/bad relationship with the Caterpillar, but otherwise they are decent friends. He pays little attention to the Mad Hatter and his ravings about the patients being specific Wonderland characters. He does not care for Alice or many of the other patients, much of which shows through in his belligerent nature.

xxxxxxxxxxbiography - - - Sometimes life is a pretty thing, full of fairy tales and princess wishes. Sometimes life is a s**t hole filled with blood, pain, and screams. Some people get the first and others get the latter. Elise Bronsted was unlucky enough to be dealt the latter fate. She was born into a poor British family, that lived in the slums of south London. Her father, Benjamin Bronsted, was a man who was always down on his luck. He had a wonderful life until he was betrayed by a friend, framed for a crime he didn't commit, and thrown into jail. Once he got out, it was five years later. All his possessions and money had been seized, leaving him destitute. Ben married a young woman, Veronica Slater, who was more well-off. She was deeply in love with her broodingly handsome husband. He, however, only married her for the money. Much of Veronica's money went down the drain in Ben's excessive gambling and drinking habits. Even worse, Ben couldn't find a single place to work; no place would hire him because of his criminal history. Unemployed and distraught, Ben stayed home and drank, feeding a never-ending cycle. Realizing that her dreams had been folly, Veronica delved into a fathomless depression. During her depression, she gave birth to a son, Jeremy, and a daughter, Elise.

Elise's childhood was a blur of abuse from her alcoholic father and isolation from her depressed mother. Meanwhile, Jeremy found a sweet escape through recreational drugs. Several times would Elise come home to find her brother high in his room, simply staring up at the ceiling or babbling something incomprehensible. Elise reasoned to herself that being in the throes of drug euphoria was preferable to facing the reality of her abuse. So, Elise swiped drugs from her brother and quickly became addicted to them. Right around the same time, she began drinking alcohol. By this time, she was ten-years-old. Within the next year, Elise felt something within her change. Sometimes she would feel wonderfully euphoric; other times she was terribly depressed or angry. These mood changes seemed to happen within a span of a few seconds, so quickly that Elise didn't notice them. One day, the ten-year-old came home from school and entered her house to find her father beating her mother. Her previous euphoric state snapped into a blinding rage. The little girl grabbed one of her father's beer bottles, snapped it in half, and attacked her father with awesome strength. Though her father lived, Elise put her father in the hospital with severe injuries to the chest, the neck, and the face. After this episode, Elise was quickly gathered by child services and shipped to South London Sanatorium. It wasn't long before she was easily diagnosed as having bipolar disorder.

During her long tenure there, the young girl befriended another child, the Mad Hatter. He was terribly obsessed with Alice in Wonderland, which Elise found absolutely fascinating. The two became best friends. Eventually, Elise found herself falling in love with him. It was a sweet feeling, one that served to quell her erratic moods. Meanwhile, the Hatter was growing up handsomely and found himself dallying with the females around him. Though put off by this knowledge, Elise revealed her feelings to him. Unfortunately, they were not to be; the Hatter rejected her and focused fully on other girls. Elise found her love for the Hatter breaking and blossoming into bitter hatred. Since then, she has forever hated the Hatter.

xxxxxxxxxxpersonality - - - There is nothing about Elise that is subtle. Her moods make her extremely happy or terribly angry or depressed. Much of this reveals itself to the outsider. Yet there is even more emotion that boils inside of her, much of which she hardly ever shows except to her friend, the Queen of Hearts. She is impulsive, decides things right on the spot without thinking them through. She is very energetic, almost quite literally bouncing off the walls. Most of all, Elise looks down upon everybody in the asylum. The only one she views to be her equal is the Queen.

Though she feels wonderful sometimes, Elise often dips into a slow, hard depression. She often things poorly of herself, thinks of the past and how horrible her life has been. In some cases, she has even considered suicide as a permanent escape. However, the nurses and doctors monitor her constantly to prevent such measures. The medicine she consumes dampens her moods and causes her to become levelheaded and quite calculating. Elise is sure that herself, whilst on medicine, is her true self, someone she can never find very easily. The young woman is filled with much hate and bitterness for everything and everyone around her. As a result, Elise can be quite vindictive even concerning the smallest of things.

xxxxxxxxxxlikes - - - Yelling at people, euphoria, running around, the Queen of Hearts, heroin, alcohol.

xxxxxxxxxxdislikes - - - The Mad Hatter, Alice in Wonderland, doctors, nurses, tapping, whistling, humming, singing.

** Event **
"A Song about the Fair Folk: Part two"

Character's involved: The Wyrmling, The Elf, The Shepherd, The Blacksmith's Daughter, The Dwarf
(the friend has yet to joing the festival, this will be adjusted accordingly once a profile has been recieved)
Time of Day: Noon
Weather: We're about mid-way through fall; the heat's mild, the skies are clear, and there's only the faintest breeze
Location: At a rickety old well located at the center of the Human festival
Event Duration: - - -

*** Read everyone's little blurb, there's general information in each.

The song stops short and the men all stop, eyes focusing on Petra in unison. The leader grins at her, his head jerking to the side as he looks her up and down. "Sorry, poppet, but you can't even begin to understand what's happening here. This isn't fear or cowardice," the leader states, throwing his arms wide. "Just some silly old drunk having a bit of fun." The group of men chuckle, and the leader crouches down to be at eye level with Petra. Standing as close to him as Petra is, she can now clearly see the lifelessness of his eyes, and grayish tinge of his skin. It's hard to notice from a distance, the outfits distract from it, but this man looks very ill. "The show's about to start, deary." He whispers so softly that only Petra can hear. The minute the words leave his mouth, an arrow sprouts between his eyes. He pitches forward, falling dead on the ground, a wild grin still on his face.

The crowd shouts, and turn to look at the attacker; An Elven woman stands there, bow still drawn.

The Blacksmith's Daughter: The Elven woman has the same dead look in her eyes as the man who she just killed, her lips are blue and her movements odd and jerky. You don't have time to worry as to what that means, however, for she turns and starts firing at random into the crowd. The men who's leader now lay dead at your feet (though not by your hand), stare at the corpse before they too turn and attack the crowd (singling out Elves). Screams errupt from humans and Elves alike, and only you seem to see the thin black tendril that wriggles its way out of the dead man's mouth and slips through a crack into the well.

The Dwarf: The streets are really oddly empty; what ever that noise was, it quite effectively stole away even the most drunk of your clients. What does it matter though? It was about time you had a break of your own. As you settle back to relax, you realize you can hear not one gawdy song being sung but several. More then one group has chosen to make a performance at this time it would appear... Then a most fould stench hits your nose, coming from up wind. Down the path is a couple of figures completely obscured under fabric, and they have their weapons drawn. The minute they disapear out of your line of sight, the screaming starts.

The Wyrmling: Your eyes meet the black ones of a nearby elf moments before he plunges a dagger into your stomach. Pain races through your body, your muscles have all seized and barely manage to twist your form so your shoulder hits the ground first (as opposed to your face). You've started to cry out in pain, but you can't really hear the sound of the screams over the blood pulsing in your ears. Somehow, despite your mind being clouded by pain, you realize what is happening; the shock of the attack is forcing your body to change back into your true form... But this isn't right, it's never hurt like this before! I mean, a normal change isn't a pleasant experience but this is something else entirely.

The Shepherd: You're not quite at the well, but that's largely because of your hound. No matter how hard you try, the dog refuses to get any closer. It's then that you notice he's not the only animal acting strange... The sky darkens as birds flee the city and the festival, and all around you mice, rats, cats and the odd dog are running towards the hills. You don't need to be good with animals to know that's a bad sign. Suddenly, the horses (all who are tethered away from the stalls for the time being) start to scream and rear up, pulling against the ropes that are holding them in place. The screams change from panic to pain and though you can't see what's happening to them from here, you know what a dying animal sounds like.

The Elf: Above all the screaming you can hear it; at first you believe it to be a song. It's strange yet familiar... And it seems to be getting louder. Then realization hits you like a ton of bricks; you're not hearing singing at all. It's moaning and frantic whispers spoken in your native tongue; 'Tear their flesh, break their bones, make them scream' is being chanted over and over again, peppered with haunting cries for help and death. The sound is coming from the well, but by the time you realize it, it's already to late. You know what's coming, the words are on the tip of your tongue; 'The Black Wind'

The Friend: You've just crested the final hill and the city of Crossroads comes into view. For a split second, everything looks normal... And then you see it; several figures are hacking away at the horses that were tied up away from the tents, and around them are the bodies of human and Elves alike. The sounds of screaming is brought to you on the wind, and you can see people trying to escape. You can't see what's happening at the center of the comotion (and it must be something bad to make the people run so blindly into the bared weapons of those waiting for them on the outskirts of the festival), but you can very easily tell that the civilians are being attacked from all sides.

Madhouse Chapters/Arcs

ᴄʜᴀᴘᴛᴇʀ ᴏɴᴇ

Characters: All [still waiting on a Caterpillar]
Time of Day: Morning
Weather: Rain, thunder
Location: Lounge or the crime scene [depending on your blurb]
Event Duration: One day, with adequate time skips

Bloody hand prints on the wallpaper. A syringe. Empty eye sockets. A note to his imaginary twin brother. The first murder has been committed, and the asylum is a flurry with trying to keep things under wraps. The victim--one called "Tweedle Dee/Dum" by the Mad Hatter--was found laying in a pool of his own blood. Whispers were, with the Hatter's connection to the victim, that the Hatter was the killer. No one can be sure. The Hatter won't admit to anything, and the asylum's staff won't even try. As fiercely crazy as they are, even the most insane in the asylum fear for their lives.

Alice: It's your first full day. It's not a pleasant day. Already you can feel the fear creeping up on you. Everything around you is bad, and the murder only makes it worse. However, morbid curiosity drives you to go and look at the murder scene. It's horrible, worse than you could imagine, but it's enough to satisfy your curiosity. While you're there, you discover something: boot prints on the linoleum. Apparently, in the rush, it was overlooked. Though you see them, you have no idea what to make of them. Of course, the Hatter might be able to help you.

Hatter: It's unfair, their accusations; at least, that's what you think. How could someone as wonderful as you do such a horrible thing? Here you are, pining after your Alice and attending lovely tea parties when they blame something so terrible on you! You're angry and insulted, and you feel you have every right to be. Naturally, you want to see what all the racket is about. So, you go down to look at the murder scene.

Queen: All the drama bores you. Unless someone is losing their head, it is no fun (naturally, you derive a little pleasure from the Hatter being blamed! but no one's being convicted just yet...) So, you decide to hang out in the lounge with your friend the White Rabbit. You two are playing cards, thoroughly trying to ignore the other patient, the March Hare.

Cat: You could care less about what goes on in the asylum. However, you notice that your new friend, Alice, is a little disturbed by the recent events. Only naturally you follow her in an attempt to comfort her. As you're walking down the hall to the crime scene, you notice a bloody hand print on the wall. You notice that the hall is deserted, for it is a part of the asylum rarely anybody goes.

Rabbit: Oh how you are oozing euphoria! The onslaught of recent events has unleashed a turmoil of joy inside of you. While your friend the Queen is quite bored with everything, you are very happy. As you play cards with the Queen, you are smiling broadly and taking down the queen with each move. While the Queen is ignoring the other patients, you can't help focus in on the Hare and his irritating habits.

Caterpillar: ---

Hare: This whole business with the murder has you both irritated and intrigued. It's such a unique way to murder people and then tease them! However, you're not intrigued enough to check out the crime scene. Instead, you stay back in the lounge and chatter with your friend, the Caterpillar, about nonsense. Then, you realize that the Queen and the Rabbit are nearby. A thrill of pleasure runs through you as you begin to annoy each of them, waiting for one or both to blow their lids.
