The country of Veran was peaceful once. This two hundred year old kingdom had always been ruled by wise and powerful kings and queens who were renowned for their fairness and justness. For many years, it was thought that the kingdom was protected by the gods themselves. While Veran wasn’t as perfect as it sounds, it was pretty close to it.

All that changed when the king was murdered and the throne stolen by another man. The usurper was a man named Annexus, who had been a very powerful advisor to the king. Annexus had only been at court for short five years, but had quickly gained the king’s trust. This trust is why the king at the time, Cyril, granted him a small army. That was his horrible mistake. Annexus took that army and suddenly attacked. Taken aback, there was nothing Cyril could do. His army fell in a few short hours. Then he himself was killed, and Annexus came into power.

It has been fifty years since then. Annexus hasn’t aged a bit, much to the surprise of the people. He rules by inflicting fear into his people’s hearts. Many people have rebelled, but all have failed. Annexus orders his army to destroy villages to eradicate these resistance movements. It seemed like the gods had left Veran to its fate. But this is not so. The gods bless unborn children, granting them the power to defeat Annexus. These children are born with powers and can be identified by their red eyes. The people call them Eternal Eyes, for they thought they would live forever. This proved false when Annexus ordered all Eternal Eyes to be killed, but the name stuck. However, more keep being born.

The Eternal Eyes are the citizens of Veran’s only hope that Annexus will one day be overthrown.

I will allow this RP to be semi-modern. I will allow modern clothes in pictures(mainly because it’s difficult to find time period-appropriate clothes) and guns. BUT! The guns must be secondary weapons. Also, there are no cars, no computers, nothing else modern.

Eternal Eyes

Powers: can pick almost any lock, amazingly stealthy, amazing dexterity(he could steal the belt from your waist without you noticing), can sense the actual intentions of those around him, a rare ability that the true kings(and queens) are known to have
Bio: Fifty years ago, Annexus attacked the castle. The unexpected coup d’état claimed the life of King Cyril, but his wife, Lena, managed to escape with their two year old son, the prince, Alexander. The young Alex grew up without any knowledge of his birthright, thus living a relatively normal life. Well...As normal as life living under a dictator could get. He married the love of his life when he was twenty-six. After the couple found out they were expecting a child, Lena decided to tell Alex the truth about his birth. You can only imagine his shock when he found out he was the prince! That information also fueled his hatred for Annexus. But he wouldn’t do anything. Not yet, anyway. Not until his child was grown. Sothe was born and ten years passed without incident.

But everything changed when the Eternal Eyes started appearing. Annexus sent many soldiers out on Eternal Eyes hunts. It was during one of these hunts that Lena was discovered. She was captured, brought back to the castle, and executed. That was the final push Alex needed to fight. He and his wife formed a resistance group against Annexus. But it wasn’t long before Alex realized that Annexus knew about him and his heritage. Fearing the worst, he gave his father’s dagger to Sothe. He then proceeded to tell Sothe that he was the heir to the throne, and to pick up where he left off should he fail. He told Sothe to hide and left for one, last meeting with his group. It was during that meeting that the hideout was raided and everyone in it captured, then executed. Young Sothe was now alone in the world.

With no one to help support him(he was only ten, after all), Sothe was forced to resort to thievery just to survive. NOT something a prince should ever have to do. EVER. However, he wasn’t a common thief. No, he did not steal from citizens. They were suffering enough. He stole from the guards Annexus was paying. He stole from the rich. He even stole from Annexus himself while sneaking through the castle. He then used the stolen money to pay for necessities, like food and clothes. Now, obviously, Annexus wasn’t happy with this. That was how he became a wanted thief. He lived like this for six years before he decided that Annexus had been on the throne long enough. He decided that he would find the Eternal Eyes and help them kill their common enemy, not caring whether it got him the throne or not.
Other: Sothe’s proof to his claim is his dagger, as it belonged to the royal family. He rarely uses this dagger, instead using another one he had stolen from Annexus’ armory. His grandfather’s dagger is hidden inside his right boot.

Powers: the ability to read ancient magic tomes, she can sense danger when it threatens her or someone close to her, and she can see the future at will, though she can’t choose what she sees
Bio: Hitomi was the second born daughter in a country family. She was also the second Eternal Eyes to be born in the family. Her older sister was also an Eternal Eyes. They were a happy family, living near the border of Veran and away from Annexus’ wrath.

One day, her parents decided to send Hitomi to her grandmother’s house, who had been the librarian for King Cyril. She had wanted some ancient scrolls she had spirited away from the castle deciphered, and Hitomi was the only one she could trust that could read the language. So Hitomi left to assist her, leaving the protection of her home to her older sister. She was nine then.

Suddenly, while reading one scroll, she sensed danger. It was faint, so she knew it had to do with her family. They were the only ones who were close to her. Suddenly starting to fear, she apologized to her grandmother, packed her things, and left. She was too late. The entire house was burned down. The bodies of her parents and younger sister were inside. But her older sister was missing. Assuming it was Annexus’ doing, she swore vengeance. She started wandering the country, looking for her sister, hoping she was still alive. As she got older, however, the realized that the chances her sister had escaped Annexus’ notice were slim to none. Giving up hope, she decided to try to raise a resistance against him and destroy him.

Bio: Phantom child of Annexus,born from one of the servants he slept with.Born as one of the Eternal Eyes and because of that his father saw him as both a threat and both a opportunity he could use as his powers were unique.

Phantom was raised in secrecy only the trusted members of Anexxus' fleet knew of his existence but although in secrecy he was treated like a Prince given all his needs and wants.

His father was truly proud as he would believe that Phantom would do anything for him and with his sort of powers he was invincible but Phantom knew his fathers goal and so he fled from his fathers side at the age of 16 and is trying to stay alive to bring down his fathers cause.
Other: Phantom blacks out when on the verge of death or Infuriated and unleashes destructive power.

Bio: Penelope was the first born daughter of a woodcutter and his wife. Early on, she showed a keen skill at archery, developing quickly into a fine huntress by her teen years. They lived deep in the forest, living off of its bounty, hunting, gathering and trading peacefully with neighboring villages. Then, one day, her brother Aedan was born with those famous bright red eyes. For a while, they hid him successfully and thought they were safe. Then, one day, she returned from a trade visit with her brother, to find the house burned and their parents murdered. It had been the King's army. They ran and never looked back. She swore that day, that she would protect her brother from the king with her life. She hopes that one day... one day, her brother will grow up strong and avenge their parents...

Bio: When Aedan was born to his wood dwelling family, there was a mixture of joy and dread. Even though the family was isolated from most of the fighting, they feared Annexus influence. His abilities surfaced slowly, but there was no doubt he was special early on. As he grew, they kept him close to home and hid him from everyone. He didn't mind his seclusion, as he cared little for other people and loved the forest. His world was shattered the day his parents were killed, and like his sister, vowed to avenge them. He travels with his sister, eyes covered constantly, feigning blindness to protect his identity as an Eternal Eyes.

Powers: Great control over wind, inhuman speed, and it is said he can fly because of his wind but has never tried to do so.
Bio: Zeek was born into a wealthy village around the time Annexus started the hunt for Eternal Eyes. He lived a normal life and helped do many jobs in the village. No one in his village told him that he was an Eternal Eyes but he always knew he was different. He first noticed his ability to control the wind when he was twelve years old. Two years later Annexus' men arrived in the village and burned it to the ground while Zeek was gone. When he returned all the men were gone. All that remained of his village was ruins and ashes. He had found his father inches away from death and that was when he was told that he was an Eternal Eye and there was a group of people who were opposing the king that were also Eternal Eyes. The next day Zeek set out on his journey to look for the group of people. In his travels he helped villages using his powers and also realized his speed. While he was visiting one village close to the outskirts of the kingdom some of the soldiers witnessed his powers and tried to kill him. He won the fight but had suffered many injuries and blacked out. Three weeks after he woke up in a doctors house and had no memory of anything that had happened. The only thing he remembered was his powers and his name.

Powers: Blood manipulation, recovers from being tired or injured more quickly, and the ability to temporarily mesmerize people when eye contact is made with the target for a long time.
Bio: Vance was born into a family that lived near Annexus' castle. Despite living close to the dark ruler, he was able to live an educated life with his parents and older brother. Vance knew of his powers at a young age, when he recovered from painful accidents quickly, and always got what he really wanted. Life went on as normal as it could, until Vance turned 13. A few weeks later, Annexus declared that those who were "Eternal Eyes", were to be executed. Upon hearing this, Vance was told by his older brother that they had to escape, which they did under the cover of night.

At this point, life became difficult. Eating more than one meal in a day became a rare occasion, and often times, Vance wondered if he would starve to death. Even though his old brother was normal, he always worked odd jobs to earn money for them to eat. But one can only work so much, until they cannot work any more. One day, his brother collapsed in exhaustion, and never got up again. Vance was unable to give his brother a proper burial, but he managed to carve his brother's name onto a large rock on the outskirts of the city, which he visits occasionally to reminisce.

Shortly after the death of his brother, he joined the Liberation Army. They were united to see revenge on Annexus, due to unfortunate events caused by him. Though Vance could seek vengeance against Annexus for the death of his brother, he knew that the only person he could blame, was himself... But Vance couldn't sit around and be depressed all day, his brother always told him to cheer up, otherwise nothing good would happen. One of the reasons why the hideouts and members of Liberation Army were able to escape Annexus' searches, was his ability. He could mesmerize officials and guards, whom were preforming searches, into thinking that they hadn't found anyone or anything at all.
Other: Vance prefers to avoid fighting, mainly because his ability is a double edged sword.

Powers: Juliana- Manipulating the wind to her advantage.
Bio: Juliana and Sharron are twins with opposite personalities, hair color, fashion sense, and most importantly eye color. Juliana was born an Eternal Eye and was entrusted to help the world from the clutches of Annexus. Her father was proud, her mother was wary and poor Sharron stood in the background. Juliana’s father trained her in combat as well as Sharron so that she may help her sister save the country someday, as a side kick, their mother spoiled and cuddled Juliana, which she did not enjoy much since she turned out to be such a tomboy, while Sharron longed for her mother’s love but never received it. Sharron grew envious of her sister and hated that God chose her to be the special twin. They grew separate and by the age of fourteen they both fought almost to their very last breath, Sharron fled though and Juliana has not seen her since.

Powers: Can control lightning and use the lightning in his magic. In desperate times, he has an Ascendant State where he grows wings and a terrible thunderstorm rages because of his increased power.
Bio: Saen the Conjuror of Storms. He served the king as one of his most powerful mages and his ambassador to other kingdoms. When Saen embarked on an ambassador mission, the king was assassnated and replaced by Annexus. Saen immediately refused the rule of Annexus and tried to stop him. His increased power surprised Saen, but he managed to escape. Soon after, he went into a state of deep meditation in a remote cave for 50 years, hoping to increase his power enough to defeat Annexus.

Powers: Healing, borrowing earthy abilities to enhance skills earthly camouflage, communicating with the earth.
Bio: Maaya father, a third generation silversmith, was still loyal to the ideals of the deceased king, and one of the heads of the eternal eye rebel himself was not one but Maaya is. He was then captured by a squad Annexus' soldiers and publicly executed. Her mother was soon to follow. Her brother on the other hand managed to escape, leaving his sister on her own. She hacked off her hair and wandered, took up odd jobs as silversmith, for her father's work was taught to her from when she was old enough to lift a hammer. Her weapon of choice is a set silver throwing knives and she is quite lethal with them. She never remained in one place for longer than a month or so, as too not make herself known. She was then discovered by a drunken soldier and promptly beaten into unconsciousness. She was then branded with image of an eye. The soldier was set on destroying her, when she then was rescued by Zeek, a fellow eternal eye. At first she was skeptical her rescuer's intentions, but gradually started to trust him. She began to harness her powers while being led by Zeek to this group of rebels against the tyrant king, the flame of revenge burned bright in her.

Weapon: a shortsword and a hidden blade up her sleeve(think the hidden blades in Assassin’s Creed)
Powers: enhanced sense(except sight), can read minds, can see the future(her visions come randomly, but are usually very useful)
Bio: Arisu is an Eternal Eyes that has decided to fight for Annexus against the others of her kind. No one knows why. All that is known about Arisu’s past is that she somehow went blind seven years ago, and joined the army shortly after.
Other: Arisu is completely blind in both eyes. She always wears a black blindfold over her eyes, partially because she is blind, partially because she is an Eternal Eyes, and partially to hide the fact that she doesn't sleep well(the reason for this will be revealed later). She is also in love with Annexus. She feels he could never return her feelings, and has vowed to protect him until her heart no longer beats. She is Annexus’ best assassin and most loyal protector.

Gender: male

Weapon: naginata, a 9mm pistol in case he needs it
Powers: he is absolutely brilliant(especially for his age), he can easily hide his true emotions behind a calm expression and a mental barrier, he can create powerful shields to protect against all attacks. To this day, his shield has never been penetrated.
Bio: Mamoru’s life has been a bunch of sad events stringed together by happy moments. His life began tragic. It began with his mother’s death...Literally. His mother died in childbirth with him. To the surprise of most, he survived. His father was devastated by his wife’s death, but did not blame Mamoru. He raised Mamoru by himself for five short years. Those five years were happy for Mamoru. But the happiness ended when his father died of an unknown illness. Rather than crying, Mamoru hid his tears and his sadness away from the world, though inside he wanted nothing more than to scream.

Mamoru wandered the streets for a few days before an old man found him sitting on the ground, hugging his legs. The old man offered his hand to Mamoru and took him in. It turned out that the man was a retired army general who had lost his wife and daughter to disease a few years back. Mamoru and the man quickly grew close.

Being adopted by such a respected man also had its perks. Mamoru received only the best education. This is how Mamoru’s brilliance was discovered. He picked up all the topics, including the complicated math problems, with ease. Annexus himself was impressed with this and granted him almost unlimited access to the castle libraries. That was where you would most likely find Mamoru in his free time.

But, again, tragedy would strike Mamoru. His adoptive father passed away from his age when Mamoru was eleven. Mamoru chose to hide his emotions from the world once again. After this, Mamoru closed off all entrances to his heart, afraid to get close to anyone again. Afraid to be hurt again...
Other: Mamoru is Annexus’ top tactician and is thus responsible for planning battles and raids. Unlike most tacticians, he is also amazing on the battlefield. He doesn’t agree with the slaughter of innocents to kill a single Eternal Eyes, but Annexus’ orders are orders. He feels indebted to the army because he would have starved if the general hadn’t adopted him, and is stubborn in his loyalty to Annexus.

Powers: inhuman speed, ability to bend the elements
Bio: Nagi was born to a normal family in the capital. The family had been known for their loyalty to Annexus, and would do anything for him. This particular family had never been known to possess powers of any kind, so when Nagi developed some, they started to become afraid. His eyes weren’t red, so he wasn’t an Eternal Eyes, so what caused his powers? His parents were afraid that he was and that his eyes would later turn red, and reported this to Annexus. They then left the capital and Nagi to his fate. Surprisingly, Annexus was intrigued and adopted the boy, seeing as how his parents didn’t want him. Nagi was about six.

Nagi grew up as if he truly were Annexus’ son, though he knew he wasn’t. He was educated like a prince, protected like a prince, and respected like a prince. Though Nagi was hurt that his parents had been willing to let him die, he never let that slow him down. Whenever he thought about it, he would just force himself to think about the kindness Annexus had shown when he adopted him. Don’t get me wrong, though. He knows how cruel Annexus is. But, quite frankly, he didn’t care. The man was his father, even if not by blood, and Nagi still loved him like one.
Other: Nagi can be a little...childish at times. He can also be impatient and naïve. He has a tendency to act before thinking, which sometimes gets him into trouble.

Powers: Storm claw(Calls a indiscriminate uncontrollable strom intended to attack enemy but has attacked him and commorades), Lance of the coveanant (a lance made of pure fire forms in the hands of the user and can be used in any needed way but if the weapon isnt thrown but falls from the users hands it dispersses instantaneously before touching the ground), Pulse( a Spherical ball of darkness envelops the user before dispursing around him inflicting people around with somthing described as hell fire)
Bio: Gabriel was found by the annexus when he was a toddler and had just started discovering his powers and so when the annexus came breaking in his door and murdering his family as they quickly attempted to resist their sons possible death. After the annexus quickly murdered his father and mother they sourronded the kid and were about to kill him but in a reasonable tempered rage he used pulse unaware of anything he was doing and killed many of the soliders except the officer. The officer was astonished by the childs abilities nurtured him as a way to manipulate him to calm down so that the annexus could use him as a soldier. As the commander returned showing the boy to the king he was given a quick applaud and was given accomedations at bringing a boy with such abilities and being able to manipulate him at the time was a easy way to mold a soldier. As the years went by the boys abilities were harnessed and controlled but the manipulation the king had thought was working was nothing more then a ploy that he was playing to one day judge the king for the day forever burned into his head of the day of his parents murder.

Powers: Inhuman agility(speed, strength, reflexes, etc.).
Bio: Lucas' parents died when he was 7, leaving him to care for his younger sister, who happened to be born with piercing red eyes. Not knowing what else to do, he went to Annexus with a proposition. He would join the King's army and fight against the rebellion, as long as the King let them live in the castle and didn't harm his sister. Lucas already knew he was blessed with overwhelming agility most humans didn't have, and showed Annexus to help convince him. The King did see potential in him, and took Lucas under his wing. Lucas was an exceptional fighter, and quickly rose in the ranks of the army. He doesn't really like to talk about his life before he joined the King, because "the past is in the past."
Other: Luke is a General in Annexus' army.
He is sarcastic, sly, flirtatious, stubborn, easily angered, and overly protective of his sister. He tends to be cold-hearted and ruthless, but has a weak spot for girls.

Powers: Telekinesis, Invisibility, and Manipulation over all forms of Water/Liquids.
Bio: Isabel doesn't remember having much of a childhood. Everything before her parents death is sort of a blur, since she was only 4. Isabel use to rely solely on her brother, but after he joined the army, she learned to do things for herself. In order for the King to let them live in the castle, she had to promise to never use her powers, and is still forbidden from doing so. A few years ago, her brother became a General, and she began secretly training and developing her abilities. The only thing she can use without it completely failing on her, is her Invisibility; but still she cannot fully control. Eventually she pretty much mastered her Invisibility, and started sneaking out of the castle. That's when she met a girl named Hitomi.

Bio:
Elisabeth was born to a drunkard Blacksmith and his sullen wife in a far off city in Valen. When they saw that she had the famed red eyes like her brother Samuel, they saw opportunity. Her brother Samuel, had powers that allowed him to cloak himself, and become invisible in order to spy on the competition. They hoped she would manifest powers similarly useful. However, as time wore on, it seemed that Elisabeth had no powers. They beat her, starved her, locked her up, trying to make her powers grow, but it seemed useless. Then, one day, her father in a drunken fury nearly killed her. She snapped. Her powers awoke, she stole her father's prized battle axe and violently murdered the entire household. After she saw what she had done, she became afraid. She was a now a wanted murderer and it was dangerous to be alone and an Eternal Eyes. Then she got an idea. She went to the castle and bowed to the king, and offered her severed brother's head as proof of her loyalty, claiming she had done it because he was an Eternal Eyes. The king suspected that this was not quite the truth, but he saw potential in her and graciously offered her asylum from her crimes and accepted her into his army.

She is now his loyal servant and reveres him as her savior. She is a strong fighter, but no one wants to march with her in battle, because of her unpredictable behavior that often gets her allies killed or injured.

Bio: Nykarian is an Eternal Eye, and he was part of a rebellion, but was captured by Annexus, along with his sister. Now he is being forced to help Annexus, the safety of his sister insuring his cooperation. He has been forced to execute many members of the rebellion he was in, and this has made him cold on the outside, though under the surface he is the same person he was when he was captured, shy, but friendly, willing to help anyone that needs it.

Bio: Juliana and Sharron are twins with opposite personalities, hair color, fashion sense, and most importantly eye color. Juliana was born an Eternal Eye and was entrusted to help the world from the clutches of Annexus. Her father was proud, her mother was wary and poor Sharron stood in the background. Juliana’s father trained her in combat as well as Sharron so that she may help her sister save the country someday, as a side kick, their mother spoiled and cuddled Juliana, which she did not enjoy much since she turned out to be such a tomboy, while Sharron longed for her mother’s love but never received it. Sharron grew envious of her sister and hated that God chose her to be the special twin. They grew separate and by the age of fourteen they both fought almost to their very last breath, Sharron fled though and Juliana has not seen her since.

Bio: ZAck was a very sickly child,his arents very poor.They had no chance to give him the correct mecicine he needed,they were simply too expensive!So they ler their own son alone ,to die in the streets.the small child was about 4 years old,coughing violently and crying his heart out,as he tried to survive the first day alone.The second day he had to steal some bread and even succeeded in doing so but fleeing wasn't this easy for a child!He ran away from the shopkeeper and ran right into Annexus.Zack was scared,his scarlet eyes wided in shock and in this moment he uses the manipulation of wind ,to create a blade of wind,which was tossed at Annexus.This ,however,barly scratched the man,but it impressed him.In Zack he saw a weapon,a weapon that was later adopted.

Zack can barly remember his parents and doesn't care about them,annexus is his true father.He will serve him with every part of his body!And he will try to protect his brother Nagi.Althought both are not related to him by blood,he does somehow feel very attached to them and would die to protect them.
Other: He can be VERY childish when he sees his brother,so it is no surprise when he ttempts to hug or even glomp his brother.He is just simply proud to have him as family.

Bio: Kasuna lived a happy life in the village with his mother, father, and sister. He helped his dad in the shop with his younger sister. That was until the king's army raided his village and killed his parents. When it started he started to hunt for his sister to get the two of them out of the village. But there were to many people running around and getting in his way so he gave up and fled without her. A few years later he had joined the kings army in an assassination attempt against him. But when he got close enough to act he was told the reason for the raid on his village and found his sister was the cause. He then began to hate his sister so much that he wanted to kill her himself. He had heard rumor that his sister was in a village from a guard that branded an eye on her. He rounded up the soldiers that were under his command and led a raid on the village in search of her but couldn't find her. Now his only goals in life is to kill her and serve the king.

Bio: Ignis was born into a wealthy family,but he lost everything within few days.Flames stohle the last breath of his parents and his uncle abonded him in the woods,leaving him there to die!The small frail child grew up in the woods ,learning of his powers .The plants were his new family,teaching him the wisdom of hundreds of years.It were also the plants that told him to wander around.And so he did. He wandered from place to place and learned about the Eternal Eyes,back then he was merly a child of 8 years.He learned that Annexus was the one who burned his home down,but no thirst for rvenge grew in the child. No he lost all emotion like that. Death would come to anyone in the end.Where is the reason to kill for revenge?

Instead of feeling hatred,he felt curiousity grow inside,so he traveld to the Kings castle. When he arried he was about 13 years old and he covered his left eye,which is red,while the right eye is green.Why you ask? this is a myster even for him,but he doesn't care.He proofed his worth to the king and is now one of the most trusted guards of Annexus. But where does he stand? Is he friend or foe? Or just a bystander?
Other: The left eye is red and covered by an eyepatch,the other one is pure green,filled with the power of life,as some say.Ignis also tend to freak out when plants are killed!
Appearance: Ignis is about 1.8o meters tall and weights about 78 kilograms .His hair is kinda freaky,as his pony is black while th rest is a pure dark red,red as blood or fire.His left eye is covered by an eyepatch,as he claims to be blind on that one and the right is green.Most of the time he wears the normal guards uniform ,but in the free time he wears a gree shirt,covered by a brown leather jacket,as well as dark black pants and a pair of brownish dirty boots. His long sword hangs loosly on his hip,while his curved daggers,the karambits are hidden in his sleeves. The other daggers are hidden...else where..

Bio: Annexus was a powerful advisor to King Cyril. Before that, however, no trace of him existed. It’s as if he appeared out of nowhere. But, after that, he could often be seen at his estate or at the castle. He appeared to rather enjoy advising Cyril on the best course of action. His sudden attack fifty years ago shocked the entire county. After the king was dead, Annexus took control of Veran and ruled with an iron fist. The fact that he appears to not have aged bothers the people greatly.

For some odd reason, Annexus grew angry and afraid when he found out about the Eternal Eyes. He ordered them and all who protect them to be killed. Which pretty much doomed the entire village the Eternal Eyes child(for they rarely reached adulthood) was in. (His past before becoming an advisor is open for whoever plays him to make up.)
