XXXXXWolves and many pack animals have a certain mentality about the members of their pack. They're ranks range from the highest; the alpha, to the lowest; the omega. Everyone has a place in the pack unless your not considered one of the pack. If your not one of the pack there are few options for you. You will either be an outsider and never know of the pack. You could also be an outsider that is killed upon entering the pack's territory. Or you could be me, the pack's pet.
XXXXXI should have been a member of the pack by all rights, both my parents are. My mother is an omega but my father is the alpha. Thats right my father is the head of the pack, so I should have been part of the pack. I would have too if I had been born normal. You see the pack i'm the pet of is a pack of werewolves. While they are human during a good majority of the time, sometimes only changing during the night. I remain in the form of the wolf during the daylight and only at night if I try do I get to take on a human form.
XXXXXI am my father's failure, so to hide me from the rest of the world instead of killing me at my mother's request, I became the pack's pet. I am the pack's punching bag, whenever they have too much aggression or just feel like it. The omegas of the pack have the easiest job of any omega anywhere. I am below the lowest outsider, they won't kill me but i'm not pack and i can't be an outsider. Life for me sucks , if someone ever wanted to mate me I think my father would have given me away right then and there. I could almost hear him say 'Go ahead take him'. I want out of this life I live and away from the pack. If I can I just want to be an outsider, I've given up being a part of the pack.

XXXXXA young male 'werewolf' seeks distance from what he once tried to call home or his pack. He's different from the rest of the pack, his transformations are quite different than any other than any other werewolves. For that he is an outcast, not accepted in the pack and yet he can't be released into the world. H elives a harsh life with only his mother's 'love'. He wants out however, he knows the alpha; his father won't risk exposing the pack to the humans in the town nearby. One night the young male makes his escape bolting to the town, can he make it before his 'father' catches and drags him back?
XXXXX[X] is a human who lives on the edge of town. All his life he never thought he fit in with those around him. He has always been more attracted to the wilderness and the forest life. He relishes in the sound of wolves howling and it is one night he hears them draw unexceptionably close that he steps from his house to find one dart into his home.

Name: Bray
Personality: Bray is skittish of people, years of abuse from the pack has made him so. He is cautious and quick to cower. Even so he can be very affectionate and curious when he is sure no harm will come to him. If he is too far cornered however with someone not of the pack he was born to he turns defensive and aggressive.

Name: Rayn
Personality: Rayn is usually very outgoing. That is, he is very open and light hearted when he is alone. When around people, he tends to become quiet and somewhat shy. Because the people in his village have alienated him, he has learned to keep his thoughts (and really any trace of his existance at all) to himself. This once discouraged him, but the isolation allowed him to discover his infatuation with nature and animal life. He has found friends in countless forest dwellers and one day wishes to come upon a wolf. Little did he think one would rush into his home.

Lungs burning in desperation as a being breathed in harsh breaths sucking as much air in as possible as he fought forward. He knew he had to keep going because to slow or stop would only mean either certain death or so much pain that he would wish he was dead. Already his body ached from more than just his run, lacerations covered his body some torn open once more as he had raced through the underbrush of the surrounding forest. He supposed he had deserved the injuries and in some way planned them. After all if he didn't have the injuries it wouldn't have taken the pack as long to figure out he was making another attempt at escape.

He had given soft whimpers to reveal to the pack the need to relieve his bladder and they had let him go. All the while however he had been planning as he limped away. He knew he had to relieve himself outside of pack territory because to have much more of his scent within his father's territory would only upset the alpha. He had positioned himself closer to the town at this time and when he thought the coast was clear he had made a break for it. The injuries did not help him in the least and when the pack had finally figured out what he was doing they had been on route to catch him.

He had run for a good solid hour when he had heard the first distant howl. Night was still upon him, the stars glimmering softly above. He did not pause to stare at their beauty, he pressed forward with more urgency. More howls came after that, some closer and he knew they had located him. Harder he forced himself to run faster to make it to the human's territory, just to the first den and maybe he would be alright. Maybe if he could get someone to come outside he could be free, he could run in the daylight get farther away.

All was silent for moments after a howl in the distant, then one commanding howl echoed through the night sky closer than the others. He recognized this one as his father's. Fear and adrenaline raced quickly through his blood. He could see the human's house now, just down a hill. He could hear padded feet behind him racing ever closer, then more howls, the whole pack was there. He was sure they would kill him upon catching him now, despite his mother's pleas. Yet more howls sounded through the air, these ones excited they were close to catching him and he was so close to the human's den. Suddenly he saw the human, it's dwelling opened and a man stepped outside as if curious to the on goings around its home. He didn't care what the human thought or was curious about however. He pushed once more darkness tickling the edges of his vision, he was hardly breathing now desperate.

He didn't stop, barreling into the human he crashed over him and slid beneath the humans bed, slamming into the wall. A bark of pain answered the meeting of the immovable structure and he collapsed. Muscles twitched with tried movement but they refused to comply. If his father decided to come after him anyway despite making it into the humans house he would not be able to move away. His body shook with anticipation and fear until he heard another howl, this one of anger at losing some prey, him. They weren't going to follow him, he was safe at least for the rest of the night.

Shaking hands slowly inched their way towards a baby bird as it sat, flailing it's tiny wings and chirping it's pained chirp. "Hold shill" A boy whispered as he carefully pressed a makeshift compress to the bird's broken wing. The light yet durible twig would have to do to hold the wing in place, for unless by some miracle the boy found a specialist in animal health care items, both boy and bird were out of luck. Gause in hand, the boy began to press and tie the compress in place. The bird, however, had other ideas. The main one being; Chrip around and generally freak out as much as I can to make it impossible for this human to help me.

"Shhhh" the boy whispered, trying to do his best to calm the baby bird as he tended to its wound. "I promise, I wont' hurt you. Just stay a bit more still so I can help you."

Desperate to be as gentle as he could, the boy tied the gause in a knot and set the compress in place. It would be a bit heavier than the tiny bird's wing, but the subtle change in weight shouldn't be too hard to adjust to. The boy slowly set the bird down, and the frantic, fearful movement stopped. The bird looked its now mended wing over and carefully spead it out.

It didn't hurt anymore. This human was amazing! The bird tweeted its thanks and gratitude as it flapped its wings, slowly adjusting to the new weight. The boy smiled and was about to say something when the bird jumped and flew out the window. It's wings flapped sporatically at first, trying to stay airborn, but soon it was used to the compress and soared easily.

"Rayn!!" A voice called, snapping the boy out of his content trance. "Father and I are leaving for a while. We'll be back with food around 9, alright?"

"Sure mom" the boy, Rayn, answered calmly. He was left alone a lot, so it didn't bother him much, and eating late was something he did every night anyway when he had a "project" tending to an animal. "I'll see you when you get back"

Footsteps echoed softly in the house as his parents left him alone, yet again. Sighing, Rayn rubbed loose strands of his chestnut hair out of his eyes and made his way to the kitchen. He found a glas sof water on teh table, probably left by his father, and drank it slowly. Working with an animal is hard, but exponentially when the animal is young and wounded.

Rayn was about to head back to his room to write down his most recent results from tending to animals, when he heard wolves howling suspiciously close to the village. "What the..?" he wondered aloud, scanning the area around his house from a window. Nothing looked out of place, but more howls were soon heard, and even closer this time. The wolves were right at the edge of the village tonight. "This could be my chance" he whispered "Maybe I could come face to face with a wolf tonight...I mean...yeah I could get eaten, but it would be worth it"

A small smirk slowly spreading across his lips, Rayn headed for the door. he hard yet another howl, this time right outside his house. "What the..?" eh whispered this time as he heard the sound or paws against dirt. Slowly and cautiously this time, Rayn headed for the door. he opened it a little and looked aorund, finding nothing in particular. Weird he thought I could have sworn I heard an entire pack right outside my door

Rayn opened the door the rest fo the way and scanned the bush again, still finding nothing. Suddenly, the bushed rustled and a shadowy figured charged at him. he fell, his head hitting the floor as the figured bolted into his room and seemed to disappear under his bed. More howls errupted, and Rayn paniced. he knew then that a wolf was in hsi house, and there were a lot more coming soon. he slammed the door behind him, hoping if he had to, he could at least defend himself against one wolf instead of an entire pack.

The boy scanned his entrie house, looking for something to use as a weapon if the need arose, but when he looked down he suddenly froze. The floor was smeard with a sticky, dark substance. Blood, Rayn realized, and lots of it. Even odder though, none of it was his own, and it hadn't been there before the wolf had rushed him. "Oh god" he whispered "The wolf is hurt"

Slowly, he moved to through the kitchen, grabbing a piece of raw steak from teh fridge. he hoped he could use it to coerse teh wolf out of hiding so he could help tend to his woulnds. "Hello" he called softly as he made his way to the door of his room. "I'm not here to hurt you...I'm....I'm a friend" Rayn knew animals were more intelligent than other humans thought them to be, and hoped the wolf would understand that Rayn was not a threat right now. "Here" he said, laying teh steak down a few feet from teh bed as he back to the doorway and got down on one knee. "It's for you...I.....I don't know if you're hungry but.....just please...don't be afraid and don't try to run. I just want to help"
(be honest....a bit too much?)

The dark colored wolf felt bad for knocking down the human but he couldn't, wouldn't stop himself when the pack was after him. He could hear his mother's howl as she had lost herself in the heat of the hunt not recognizing that it was him. He heard the human get up and slam the door closed blocking the pack from him. Still his body trembled in fear of the human's reaction. He had barreled into it's home, he expected some sort of reaction.

The dark colored wolf heard the human move around the home before finally coming into the room he had slid into and under the bed. Giving a half whimper half growl as the human drew closer, fur on the back of his neck raised as he expected the human to grab him as his father did and throw him from the house back to the pack. Ears perked in confusion when the human called out to him telling him that he was a friend and wasn't going to hurt him. Scooting forward as the human moved away the wolf watched as the man retreat to the doorway, the wold then looked from the piece of steak on the ground to the man.

Slipping out slowly from under the cover of the bed he moved slowly towards the steak waiting and watching for the human to advance toward him. Finally getting close enough he snapped up the piece of steak almost swallowing it whole. Once the steak was gone he looked up to the human again almost curiously.

His whole body felt weak and while the piece of steak would help it still had to digest before it would be of any use. He kept telling himself the human wanted to help as he collapsed to the floor his legs which still burned from his exertion and the wounds refusing to hold him up any longer.

(No way its great! Im so glad for long posts)

Rayn waited, bent down on one knee in an attempt to coax the wolf out of hiding. He needed to see the creature's wounds, needed to see how badly the animal was hurt and what he would have to do to treat it. It was incredibly rare for wolves to be this far within the perimiter of the village, and even rarer for one to be this hurt yet still approach human territory. Humans weren't exactly the nicest creatures when it came to treating wolves. Most of the time they assumed the wolf would harm them, and just decided to shoot it on the spot. Rayn would never let that happen to this wolf. It was hurt and obviously scared. he would take care of it no matter what happened to him in return.

After what felt like hours, Rayn saw the wolf cautiously peek its muzzle out from under his bed. He stayed very still, terrified that he might spook the wolf, which would have one of two reactions and neither of them good. One, the wolf could run and possibly die without treatment. Two, the wolf could get scared and attack him.

The wolf looked back and forth between Rayn and the steak, and everytime it glanced at him, Rayn would have sworn the wolf was looking directly into his eyes. Rayn remained very calm, hoping he could get through to the wolf. His expression soft, and his body still, he reached out with every fiber of his being to calm the wolf. he just hoped wolves were as sensitive to feelings as people said. Everyone said animals can smell fear, so Rayn hoped it worked with compassion too.

When the wolf finally emerged, Rayn had to stifle a gasp. The poor wolf's body was cut and torn, blood seeping freely from open wounds, both fresh and old. Rayn had no idea what had happened to this creature, but he swore to himself he would help the wolf heal. He watched as the wolf slowly advanced towards the steak. It was painful, holding back and not rushing to help an injured creature, but he knew he had to be still to gain the wolf's trust.

When the wolf ate, a small smiled curved Rayn's lips. At least the wolf's appetite was still there, that was good. Hopefully that meant it still had a little fight left in it. It looked as if the wolf had lost a lot of blood, but if it could move and eat then maybe it wasn't quite as bad as it looked. The wolf looked at Rayn again and Rayn simply nodded that he was glad the wolf had eaten. he hoped the wolf would understand that.

The wolf collapsed and Rayn slowly, very slowly, started to move closer. he stopped after moving a few inches and gauged the wolf's reaction. "Please" he said softly "I'm just trying to help. I swear. Just stay still. I can help treat your wounds, if you let me." He got just a bit closer and trailed his gaze over the wolf's body. It was as he thought, there was a lot of damage but none of it was fatal as long as he treated the wolf soon. A smile again gracing his lips, he sat on his knees and looked at the wolf. "I have good news, Mr. Wolf. You have quite a few wounds, but I can definately treat you. Now, first I'm going to have to clean the wounds so...please just stay calm"

Rayn was careful as he stood and backed away to a work table he had next to his bed. A bucket full of water sat atop it with a few towels, as well as a roll of gause, needles and thread, his journal in which he recorded all the animals he had treated, and a few small pieces of wood he could use for compresses. he grabbed the bucket and towels and cautiously sat down a bit closer to the wolf. he was about an arm's length away and knew if the wolf wanted to he could kill Rayn right then. "Please" he pleaded "Just stay calm. I'm only washing your fur to clear the blood off. I promise I mean you no harm" Rayn dipped the first towel into the water and soaked it through, ringing it out a bit before holding it out. "It's just a piece fo cloth with water in it" he assured the wolf calmly "It is not meant to hurt you" Gingerly, he laid it against the smallest wound he could find and brushed away a bit of blood before pulling away and gauging the wolf's reaction.

The wolf before it reached the food looked confused as he felt emotions he had never felt before coming from the human, they were soothing in a way. New feelings continued to flood his senses from the human some he recognized and was confused by and other he didn’t know and didn’t understand. When the human nodded to him there was a bit more of relief right before he collapsed and some panic raced through him again.

The dark colored ears flicked in the direction of the human’s movement and the wolf whimpered softly knowing that he was not really able to defend himself or escape without doing something he never wanted to do. He tried to get up but his muscles would not cooperate all he was able to do was squirm a bit on the floor before he grew quite exhausted again. Hearing the soft words of the human he stopped, the man said he wanted to help… no one or nothing had ever offered him help before. He allowed the human to move closer yet still cautious and wary. Treat him? Treat him what, clean the wounds everything sounded weird to him but maybe it was just something humans did.

Watching the human move away and collect some things he lay still until he heard the sloshing sound of water or some other liquid. Giving another whimper the wolf moved his head up a bit, the whimper sounding more like a plea. A plea for some substance that would quench the burn still in his lungs and muscles. The wolf was distracted from its thoughts and plea for the water it heard and smelled when Rayn spoke once more.

The towel didn’t bother him as it was placed on his body over a laceration, a smaller one. The human’s hand and the drawing of the clothe across his fur. It didn’t hurt as much as he thought it might in fact it was quite tolerable. Again and again the human continued slowly drawing both wet and dried blood from his fur along with dirt and many other things. The wolf merely whimpered when Rayn hit a bigger wound, more sensitive while cleaning it. However the wolf made no move to stop the man.

The first touch of the needle and thread through a wound garnered the same reaction as when a bigger wound had been brushed over with the clothe. Another whimper but this time followed by a growl, the growl was soft almost warning the man but still the dark colored wolf made no move against the man. That was at least until the needle punctured the skin around a bigger wound that was more sensitive due to a possible infection. The wolf gave a sharp yelp his head whipping around and his jaws clamped over Rayn’s hand. There wasn’t enough pressure to hurt Rayn or even puncture his skin unless the man tried to move his hand away quickly.

The reaction faded as quickly as it had come and suddenly the dark colored wolf had released Rayn’s hand and was licking it gently as if in an apology. Soft whimpers accompanied it apology, the dark pointed ears were pressed against the wolves head and its tail tucked between his legs. He wondered what the human would do, the pack would have torn him apart for even thinking of doing such a thing. He hadn’t been able to help himself however, it had hurt so quickly.

The dark wolf seemed to be content to lay there as Rayn treated it, which was a great relief to the boy. Hopefully this would be a much easier job than Rayn had intended it to be. Hopefully the wolf wouldn't bite him as long as he was cautious.

Rayn paused after a minute of cleaning the wolf's cuts, noticing small, pleading whimpers escaping the poor creature's muzzle. The boy looked down nervously, afraid that he hurt the wolf more than it had already been hurt. Instead of seeing the wolf in pain, though, he saw it's eyes fixed on the bucket. But, why aould a wolf stare at a bucket like that? Unless....

"You're thirsty, aren't you?" Rayn wondered aloud, remembering how the wolf had devoured the steak. If it had been that hungry, it had to be dehydrated too. "Wow, I'm so sorry I didn't think of that earlier" Mentally kicking himself in teh butt, the boy slowly walked into the kitchen and fulled a bowl with water. he headed back and laid the bowl close to teh wolf. "Here, boy...have a drink while I take care of you"

He continued his works slowly, carefully, and soon had the wolf clean. Free of blood, dirt, and who knows what else, Rayn could see just how many counds there were. At least 10 were big enough to need bandages, and one or two of those would need to be stitched shut. The very thought of how teh wolf would react to Rayn's needle made him shiver. This was going to be difficult.

Carefully, Rayn threaded his needle and let out a deep breath "This....this is going to hurt" he said gently, holding the needle against the wolf's fur "Please, I swear this is meant to help you. I just need to close up these wounds so they don't bleed again." Hoping desperately that the wolf wouldn't chew his arm off, he began his stitching. The wolf growled softly, but it was mearly a warning. It didnt' seem that the wolf felt too much discomfort at Rayn's stitching, and the boy continued quietly.

It wasn't until Rayn started tending to a larger wound that problems arose. Rayn had just pulled the needle through the wolf's flesh when all of a sudden his hand was trapped between the wolf's powerful jaws. Eyes wide, Rayn stayed very still. Aparently, the bigger wound was indeed more tender to teh touch, and Rayn had just hurt the wolf even more. A drop of sweat dripped down the boy's forehead as he stay there, his hand between razor sharp teeth. "I...I'm sorry" he said softly "I didn't mean to hurt you"

Rayn closed his eyes, expecting the wolf to tear his hand apart. It seemed like an eternity that he just sat there, when suddenly the wolf let go and gently licked Rayn's hand. Opening his eyes, the boy looked down to the wolf as it let out appologetic whimpers. "I....it's okay" he whispered, gently rubbing the wolf between the ears. "You got spooked....it's my fault..I'm sorry" he pet the wolf a few more times before getting back to his silent work. A few minutes later the work was done and the wolf was all stitched and bandaged up. Rayn wiped his forehead with teh back of his hand and sighed. "All done"

Watching the human continuously work with the water dipping the clothe in it then rubbing him with it before dipping it again. It made his throat feel dry to be so close and not be able to get some. When the human finally realized what he wanted and moved to get it the wolf’s tail wagged thumping softly against the floor. As soon as the water was within reach he was lapping it up with such vigor. So much so that he barely noticed as Rayn continued on with his work.

Ears perked at the new words being spoken to him, stitch. He understood hurt and he didn’t like that thought but the human assured him it was for the best and he allowed him to continue. When his jaw clamped around one of the humans hands, the man became very still as if knowing what he could do. The human was nervous, fearful of his next action, no one had ever been scared of him and that in turn scared the wolf. Releasing the human’s hand didn’t make him feel any better, he could still smell and sense the fear from the man. The man apologized and the wolf wanted to shake his head to tell the human it was his fault. Always was it his fault.

When the hand descended upon his head he had expected to be hit, for the human to cause pain for the fear he had felt. Instead the hand was soft and rubbed his head comfortingly. There was yet another thing that confused him. He didn’t move at all of whimper when Rayn continued to stitch him up, only flinching occasionally. When the human said he was down the wolf rolled to his belly and looked at the man.

Moving closer he licked Rayn’s face in appreciation before moving to stand up. It was not an easy task but he managed it, looking towards a window he could see the sun rising. He could leave now and he would most likely be safe from the pack, they would not shift in the daylight, it tired them as much as shifting at night tired him. Taking stumbling steps the wolf moved towards the doorway of the bedroom. But even with each step he knew he would not be able to get far enough from the pack right now. His whole body hurt and he couldn’t run again so quickly, not without some form of sleep. Sleep, that was a thing he desperately wanted to do.

Rayn was about to collect his tools and record this latest encounter in his journal, when he felt something wet brush he cheek. he blinked, not knowing what had happened, till he saw the wolf standing next to him. The boy lifted his hand to his cheek and touched the spot where the wolf had licked him, completely shocked at the gesture. "You....um.........you're welcome" he said softly, looking at the dark wolf. Minutes ticked by and the boy still couldn't comprehend what had happened. One minute he's home alone, then a wolf barges in because it's hurt and scared, he helped the wolf get bandaged up, and then the wolf acts like a little puppy dog and licks his cheek. This was definately not a normal day for Rayn.

The wolf tried to stand on shaking legs, and Rayn snapped out of his little trance. "Hey" he said very softly so as not to surprise the wolf. "Where are you going, Mr. Wolf?" Rayn stood up slowly and walked ove rto the door where the wolf had managed to stumble, albeit veyr slowly and none too gracefully. "I know you don't really want to be here with me...but you really do need some rest, little buddy." He got down on one knee and gently rubbed the wolf between the ears. "Come on, at least stay for one night. I'll make sure no one bothers you while you sleep."

The boy stood and walked over to the closet next to his bed. Scratching his head as he focused, he pulled out some old blankets no one used and a pillow or two. It wouldnt' be the greatest makeshift bed, but it was something more comfortable than the floor for the wolf to sleep on. "Here" he said, laying the blankets and pillows into a little tangled nest. "It's not the best but...you can stay here if you want" Rayne smiled, and unlike teh smile he wore most of the day while around other humans, this one was kind and gentle. But most fo all it was sincere. He didn't want anything in return from the wolf, he just wanted to help.

The black tail moved back and forth slowly when the human said he was welcome. The human had helped him in great amounts already and he wanted some way to repay the man but the only ting he could think of was getting away before his father came for him. That alone would save the human because the wolf was sure that his father would have no problem killing the human should he interfere. That and the full moon to come the next night would leave the wolf quite vulnerable and in a form he did not often take. He wondered how the human would react if he shifted before him, he couldn’t imagine it would be with the same kindness he had already been shown.

The wolf looked back towards the human when the man spoke almost calling to him as he had moved towards the door. He faced the door again for a brief second when the man asked where he was going before looking back to him trying to explain what he was doing. Confusion drew over the wolf’s features as best it could when he heard the man say that he knew he didn’t want to be in the home. It wasn’t true, he liked the home and if he didn’t have to worry about his father he could have stayed longer, and he did too like the man, he was the first person to ever help him and not punish or hurt him purposely.

Rest…he liked that word, it generally accompanied sleep which his body screamed for. The hand rubbing between his ears had him closing his eyes and his hind quarters lowering to the ground. Stay for a night? But he couldn’t there would be much danger not only for himself but Rayn too. He gave a soft whine trying to explain his predicament but the man did not understand. Watching the man gather things together he decided that he would stay the one night because the human had asked him to and that wish deserved to be fulfilled for helping him. He would just have to get out and run for his life once more before the moon came and find a hiding spot his father couldn’t find him at.

When the human spoke again the wolf looked up and was surprised by the smile given. It was comforting and gentle, it drew the wolf towards the tangled mass of blankets and pillows. Giving a soft sniff at the mass he climbed onto it circling once before collapsing with a huff of breath. It was comfortable, almost a perfect place to sleep.

The smile upon Rayn's lips grew wider as the wolf sniffed at his little makeshift bed. He was relieved that the wolf wouldnt' go out for at least one night while his injuries healed, and he was amazed that the wolf allowed him that much trust to stay in his house. By his own life, Rayn swore he wouldn't break that trust. Ever.

Footsteps sounded outside the house, and the smile vanished from Rayn's features completely. Looking at the clock on his work bench, he let out a four letter word he had never used before and realized things were about to get a lot mroe complicated. "Mr. Wolf" he said softly, trying not to disturb him. "Don't take offence to anything I say for the next couple minutes, okay? My parents are home and they don't exactly...approve...of my little animal help center here....and they really wouldn't like me helping a wolf in their house....I'm going to have to tell them that you're a stray dog. Just....just lay here and pretend to be asleep..please."

Rayn couldn't wait to see if the wolf understood him, his parents would be in the house any second. The boy stood and was headed for the kitchen when he noticed a long black streak headed from the center of the kitchen to his room. Rayn let out the same four letter word and quickly grabbed a wet sponge, hoping he could somehow clean up the dried blood on the floor in time. Barely a minute later, his parents opened the door to find their son scrubbing the floor.

"Oh Hell" his father exclaimed "What are you doing now!?!?" Rayn remained calm and kept his focus on the sponge in his hand as he wiped the rest of the blood off the floor. "I dropped the steak we had in the fridge and it made a mess..I had to clean it up." His father grimmaced and started over, but was stopped when Mother interfered. "Rayn, hunny, what were you doing with that steak?" The two of them seemed to tower over the boy as he sat on his knees, remaining as calm as he possibly could. "I...I can't lie" he said softly, sounding defeated "When you left, I went for a walk, and I saw a dog whimpering just outside the woods. I don't know what did happened, but he was really badly hurt....I had to help it"

The veins in Father's neck popped out as he shouted "You let a flea ridden mutt into our home!! The hell is wrong with you!?" Rayn flinched, usually his father yelled but not quite like this. He must have been drinking again. Rayn looked up at his mother, pleading with her to help. "I couldn't let it stay there. It was going to die!"

A loud WHACK resonated throughout the little house, and Mother stifled a gasp with her hand. Rayn sat frozen, his face turned to teh side while his hand gently touched his burning cheek. Father stood still, nostrals flaring, and his arm still outstretched. It was completely silent for what seemed like an eternity before Father cursed a much worse word than Rayn had and stormed off to another room. Mother looked back and forth between her son and husband before rushing into the other room to make sure Father was okay.

"Naturally" Rayn laughed bitterly "she chooses the drunk over her son" His cheek still searing form where his father had slapped him, Rayn slowly walked back to his room and locked the door behind him. Leaning against the frame, he sunk to the ground with fists clenched tight at both sides. "Dammit" he whispered softly, a few angry tears escaping from his eyes. "That one really hurt"

The wolf felt that the human was calmer and more comfortable when he lay down. Ears perked as the wolf heard foot steps, a soft whine escaped its throat fearing that it was the pack come to get him as the son rose. The dark colored wolf looked up when the human called to him, he tilted his head curiously when the man asked him not to take offense to whatever he said the next few minutes. He lay his head down in consent to stay in the room and pretend to sleep if not actually fall asleep.

Watching the man leave the room the wolf kept his ears perked listening to the going on. He didn’t have to wait too long for the human’s pack to come home. The loud male voice was a good indication. The wolf assumed that the man who had entered the home was the alpha. Rayn… was that the human’s name who had helped him, it made sense. He listened to the female, it was clear she was not an alpha but not quite an omega, maybe a beta.

Ears flattened against the wolf’s head as the alpha of the home began to grow loud again, it was obvious that the man was not happy with his presence. He was causing the human who had helped him trouble with his pack. The there was the sound of a blow, a sound the wolf recognized all to well and it made him wince. He had been the source of the reason the human that had cared for him was now in pain and it made him whimper softly. Everything grew silent before the wolf heard footsteps again this time moving to a different room, it was clear they were the steps of the alpha and soon the beta female followed.

He heard the human’s voice as he made his way back to the room the wolf was in and the wolf stood and moved to greet the man. The wold watched the door close and the man slide down to the floor against it. Had he been more hurt than he thought, moving beside the man noting the clenched fist he gave a soft whine. Nosing the man’s arm he looked to where he could see the human’s cheek reddening from the blow. He also smelt tears before he saw them. Giving another whine he licked the tears from the man’s face as well as trying to soothe the sure to be stinging cheek.
