    Thoughts?
PostPosted: Mon May 02, 2011 7:58 pm

My first thought would be, it's about time! rofl This has been a ten year manhunt. It's unbelievable that something could take so long with today's technology. What surprises me most about it is that they caught him in a fortified building. It sounds to me that that building is what made him an easy target. I thought that he was eluding everyone by hiding out in caves all this time. Also, I think it's a bit weird that they would bury his body so quickly in the ocean without showing people pictures of the corpse. There are already conspiracy theories out about the whole thing. Hopefully, his death will mean that this war will be over soon. I also hope that this doesn't spur them to do anything bad to us in retaliation.

I'm more concerned about the rest of Al Queda. ...An eye for an eye, you know?

He's not the worst of our problems--dead or alive.

Have to agree with Zellie here, this is gonna cause some problems. Hopefully the security measures that have been put in place after 9/11 will count for something.

I wish it could be all positive but sadly, the lunatic freaks he commanded will possibly find another, just as hate-filled leader.

That's a strong possibility. confused Hopefully they can be dealt with before they can reorganize. I'm ready for this war to be over.

Killing Bin Ladin was our retaliation for his people killing thousands with the world trade center towers, but the people in the middle east might forget that part and do something rash to us. I'm glad I don't live in a major city or a place of any special importance.

I have a friend who left for China this morning. He was going to visit his grandparents for a few weeks. I hope everything is okay with his flights.

If he has been elevated to martyrdom status, we as a United Country need to brace ourselves for the retribution that his people will seek! We need to be prepared for an onslaught of vengeance...the likes of which, we as a nation have never before witnessed! Our prayers need to be raised for protection against the fallout that may very well befall us! Thoughts?

It's definitely a very large worry, that people can get united in hate instead of in peace, but such is the nature of people. We can only hope the proper measures are put in place to protect against attacks.

I don"t want to be pessimistic, but I can't help thinking that another mad dictator will just rise up in his place. But the only other alternative is to do nothing, so we have to keep trying.

I understand why they haven't released the photographs of him dead, but it makes me wary all the same.

I'm guessing that you mean that showing a picture of the dead body will enrage the enemy even more, right?
PostPosted: Mon May 09, 2011 7:50 am

Definitely. And because it's poor taste to wave your victory under under other people's noses. America's got to be classier than that. Though it's hard not to want to throw a party because our greatest enemy has been defeated.

I sort of wish they'd release the photographs to the press, but they're going to plaster it all over the news where I don't want to see it.
