[ Character Sheets ]

[ Premise/Foreword ]
I am creating this game for two reasons. First of all, for those that have joined the Ending The War game, I have come to the conclusion it would be best just to let the new DM retain his position and continue what it is that he is doing. The second reason is a matter of, in order to maintain a feeling of variance amongst the games, I wish to create a new kind of game. Hence the reason I am choosing a D20 Modern.

[ Setting Information/Background ]
Location: A country known as Megalith. Given this name for the fact that they are leading developers in all weapon systems known to man. This country thrives off of the peace that its neighboring countries have granted it. And with this peace, it keeps both its massive supply of mines for resources running, as well as its numerous weapon factories. No one dared to attack the country, fearing the fact that it WAS the leading weapon manufacturer. Attacking it would require precision skill and that is something most countries didn't think they had.

After living off of peace for a little over two hundred years, a scouting party in Megalith spotted me from a neighboring country within its borders. At the same time, this neighboring country known as Almadar, spotted Megalith men sneaking into a high class research facility. Not even asking for answers, both countries immediately declared war upon each other, breaking through into each others land. Surprisingly enough though, Almadar lasted several years in the battle.

This battle continued for several months before something catastrophic happened. Both armies were struck hard and fast from somewhere they didn't even expect. Missile raids from the country Lieraden had decimated both armies. And their forces just marched right on through, facing little confrontation and nearly annihilating both armies.

[ Game Introduction/Plot ]
During the time that they were both fighting Lieraden, it came to light that Lieraden had impersonated men from both countries and triggered the war between them. This news came hard to the leaders of both armies and that is when the truce between them was renewed and both countries tore straight through Lieraden's lines and created a supply route between each other. The focused as much as they could on defending this route while still protecting their own territories and this supply line quickly was named, Trail of Hope.

Both nations began transferring materials and research data between each other, trying to come up with some kind of weapon that could fight off this opposing threat. After another four months of holding off their combined enemy and countless failures, they had developed what they hoped to be the perfect weapon. A large steel mech. One that could sustain itself longer than any human ever could on the battlefield. As soon as they finished these prototypes, Megalith went on to develop more while Almadar began to recruit possible pilots.

As a player, you are one of these pilots. You must pass through the training course and then fight to protect the country you once lived in. Let nothing stand in your way, and flatten Lieraden to the ground.

[ Character Creation ]

Available Sources: MSRD Charts And Info
Banned Resources: Any other resources

ECL: All characters start out at level 3
Gold: You start out with no money. All money and or equipment will be provided in the early parts of the game.
Races: Humans and Neko are allowed into the game. Humans are from Megalith and Neko are from Almadar. There is no exception to this unless you can provide a good enough back history.
Ability Scores*: Point Buy System using 30 points
xxxxxxxxxx*
Hit Points: EDIT: Hp rolls are ALWAYS maximum. No roll necessary
Backgrounds: Character backgrounds are not entirely required. Players that do create a background will get a bonus set of experience relevant to how good their background was created. The person that becomes Squad Commander MUST have a bio.

[ House/Optional Rules ]

1] Mech hit points are variant from that of the rules. Each part of the mech has its own hit points and overall hit points are increased.
2] A Mech's parts and their convergent hit points are as follows. Body: 50% of total health. Arms x 2: 10% of total health. Legs: 30% of total health.
3] If a Mech's body is disabled, the mech is crippled and can no longer act. If a Mech's arm is disabled, any attacks that involve that are have -5 to their attack rolls. A double handed weapon being used when both arms are disabled only gets a -8 to its roll instead of the -10. If a Mech's legs are disabled, the mech's overall speeed is reduced by half.
4 The Comm Specialist's job will be to call in the supply drops, target locations, and air strikes on precision targets throughout the campaign. This player will not be on the front lines but still most make a character sheet like normal.
5 Machine gun weaponry is handled differently than normal. A weapon that does 5d6 of damage will instead do 1d6 of damage 5 times, making it very ineffective against armored targets.

It's not at the appropriate level anymore, but this is the character I'd put together for your last stab at this game... I'll see about amping her up to 3.

A vehicle driver. That is definitely helpful in almost any situation where you guys will be on foot/ in a motor vehicle. Its a nice character right now, but I will wait until the levels reach level 3 before saying whether or not I approve.

In the same vein, I still have Jack and would just have to upgrade him to the right level.

interested...have questions tho

If we were to play a neko character would it be this one because i couldn't really see a link to it, or any races in the initial link you gave us.

Also, about using the link, are we able to do anything from there, i.e. cybernetics, psionics, magic, etc.?

along the same subject, are we limited in occupation? Are we only allowed to be military, or can we choose from others if we can make them make sense?

Vorastrix... that's because the setting is D20 Modern, which, unless you add future or arcana, is all human.

Edit: Ah, I see what he did there. Uh, have to get stats from him.

Due to the class I want, is it okay for me to take Mecha Operations at 3rd level?

Ooops. I lied. BVK still needs 2d8+4 HP. Rolling...

Edit: Whoo... 4 hp... that's so pathetically below average. At least I'm a fast hero. Should be able to avoid some damage, maybe?

@Vorastrix: The Neko rules that you found are for 3.5e, but yeah, I can go with allowing those to be for this as well. Nice find there ^_^

As for Psionics and Magic, no. There is no such thing in this world. And don't do cybernetics either. Your character starts out normal without any modifications XP

And as for being limited in Occupation, if you can successfully put in your bio how you working for some other job would make the military want you as a possible Elite Soldier / Guardian Pilot, then I will allow dang near any occupation.

@Raganui: Id prefer that no one took any Mech related feats or skills to begin with because as of right now in this adventure, no one knows the things even exist so no one would know how to operate one. But immediately starting on your next level you may (if possible)

heh, i knew it was 3.5 hence me asking XD.

also, i was planning on making a smart hero as i usually do in d20 Mod, and as such, i will get some bonus languages, so, what are some of the other languages in this world. Preferably that of more of the neighboring countries, or ones that are more relevant.

also, as a smart hero i don't have Drive or Pilot as a class skill, and as that is the skill needed to use a mech, i wouldn't be all to good of an operator...sooo...should i just get it from an occupation, or could i possibly substitute computer use...? if not then which of the skills is more important?
PostPosted: Tue Apr 26, 2011 12:23 pm
@Vorastrix: The languages are pretty simple. Of course, as usual, there is a common language. There also languages for humans native that to the country. When determining languages, just put the name of the country as the language. Megalith, Almadar, and Lieraden. Also, there is the language based entirely for the Neko called Setei. Those are the four langauges in this world.

As for your skill, since I dont like allowing the editation of the classes. But, having a Pilot or Drive skill just allows you to be a better pilot and perform more precise maneuvers and use some of the better things for the mechs. I will allow anyone, regardless of their skills to use these Suits because everyone will be trained on their usage.

Anymore questions???

NOTE: The reason Almadar still has a human language is because it used to be part of Megalith before it broke off and became its own nation.

Also, relations between the two races (Human and Neko) aren't the best they could be. WIth the misfought that just happened due to a stupid mistake, the relations have worsened ever so slightly. You as players will have to get around this.
