I am buying this really cute Maid dress from my friend and the apron is detachable I am just wondering if it is possible to make it into Lolita. I have little money to buy actual lolita clothes and am still working on how to sew so when I was able to get this for ten dollars I was ecstatic! But it is a Maid Dress and I don't really work for a Maid cafe or anything. I mean I am running one but I only need the apron for that because I have to be in red and White. Anyway any ideas on making a transformation?

It's very possible to make it lolita. Pictures would be very helpful if you're looking for suggestions :)

I will post pictures next weekend! I get it Friday hopefully! All the pictures of it now are on my friend and I don't know if she would be comfortable with me posting them.

Seconding the photo request. It really depends on the dress. Some can overlap between the two such that you can turn a plain lolita dress into a maid's dress, but it's generally pretty rare for a maid dress to work in lolita without some modification.
Length is usually one of the main issues, as are necklines.

Lady Cecilie http://lolibrary.org/node/370 This is the dress! She is finding the sleeves and the heart so I had never seen it with those before but I am wondering what I could do to wear it as lolita without the apron Mmm, I was expecting something much worse. It's a good length and cut, and overall an attractive dress. With the right petticoat, you could wear it as a lolita without modifying it.

I am just a bit worried because she had said she bought it when she was knew and stupid to lolita. Well then lolitas here already make fun of me even though I have only made one actual coordination and they liked that one.

I thought it was going to be worse, too. I was expecting a french maid costume, to be honest (it's ... happened in this guild before. D: ).
The only issue I see with it is the white panel in the front of the skirt. It's a bit awkward looking, but that's more a matter of personal taste than it being "not lolita". If you don't wear the apron and find accessories to go with it, the dress should be just fine for lolita without changes.

The white panel is bothering me too. I don't mind panels but when they are short little thing like that I am bothered because it is not like there is white ruffles lining the bottom of the skirt

The white panel is actually the white ruffles of a partial (at least I think its only partial) underskirt. There are a few solutions, depending on the look you want.
1 - You can take the skirt off of the bodice, carefully sew the front together and sew it back on to the bodice so you have an undivided skirt,
2 - Or you could add some wide black trim to the underskirt ruffles, to help tone down the white. This would be less work, and the direction I'd go, honestly. You might as well make a dress from scratch if you take the other option with all the work involved.
3 - Remove the white ruffles, if possible. Replace them with black ruffles. This would be the best option, if you want a more refined looking dress. Be aware that black fabrics can be difficult to match, because the undertone of the dye varies, so always check the match in natural light.
Whichever option you choose, you're probably going to want a bit more pouf than the model is wearing, so use a good petticoat, or layer them. And don't forget the drawers, since they help add volume and protect your legs from any scratchiness of petticoats and keep you modest when the wind decides to play with your dress when you're walking outside. (Its happened, and I was glad for the drawers.)
