Edwin Ryans

Dad specifically said never date Slytherins... how do I end up dating two and marrying one of them?

Edwin stared for a moment at the Norwegian before Magnus Borson translated and introduced himself as an auror in training. He groaned when he heard that there were dementors on the other levels-that would most likely include the obliviator office. "Edwin Ryans, I got the call more or less first and came here right away. Mediwizard at St. Mungos. You said there are possibly dementors in other levels... and what is the status of the obliviator office?"

He paused and said quickly, apologizing in Spanish as an afterthought, "Perdón... is anyone currently injured-that is my primary concern though I can perform a corperal patronus which should be useful given the situation..." He said nodding towards the silvery snake that circled the two.

Oh the river, oh the river, it’s running free
And oh the joy, oh the joy it brings to me
But I know it’ll have to drown me
Before I can breathe easy
And I’ve seen it in the flights of birds
I’ve seen it in you
The entrails of the animals
The blood running through

{feeling: tense} {thinking: happy thoughts, happy thoughts... } {with: Edwin and Magnus} {at: Ministry Entrance}

Cora was never called in for anything good. She was a healer, and they were usually on at the Ministry when something horrible had happened. The blonde woman had never heard of anything like this happening before; a wide scale dementor attack, all concentrated in the same place? She already had her wand out, ready for anything. She gave a nod to the two men she had just approached warily. "Gentlemen." She was pretty sure one of them she knew from St. Mungo's. Right now she was trying to think happy thoughts- her wedding day, bringing home Uriel for the first time ever, the twins being born, playing with her children, Thea's gap toothed grin, the way Eleazar blushed when he got excited and hide behind his bangs, Vi's quiet voice whenever she decided to speak up, her husband's laugh... She was already producing a fine silver mist from her wand, murmuring the patronus charm every few minutes. "Which ones, exactly?" she asked calmly. "Do you know if anyone's been Kissed?" She hoped that most of the Ministry workers could cast patronuses, for their sakes.

The phrase "working mother" is redundant.

On the sea, on the sea and land over land
Creeping and crawling like the sea over sand
Still I follow heart lines on your hand
And there’s fantasy, there’s fallacy, there’s tumbling stone.
Echoes of a city that’s long overgrown
Your heart is the only place that I call home
I cannot be returned
I know you can

Hey you, look around!
Can you hear that noise? It's a rebel sound.
We got nowhere else to go.

Magni shook his head, not knowing much to go on other than what he had seen in the Auror's office. Which honestly made him want to deck the next dementor, but the blond kept his temper in check. Not now, this was an emergency, and he needed to ensure the safety of the rest of the levels before something happened. He looked from Edwin to the woman that appeared and hoped no one had been Kissed. "I don't think so. I didn't see anything like anyone being Kissed. And currently I don't know the status of the other offices. I came straight here, since I knew this area was one of the more vulnerable ones due to civilians." He felt himself go pale as he realized that he didn't even check the Wizengamot, where he knew his father happened to work. His father was proficient, but that didn't mean he'd be able to deal with a dementor. As far as he knew, only Britain had ever used dementors in any sort of fashion, and they hadn't done so in over twenty years. This was something you never ran into in Norway. "Jeg beklager. I don't know much information."

And when the sun goes down, and we fill the streets,
You're gonna dance 'til the morning to the rebel's beat.
You can take everything from me, oh, yeah.
You can take everything from me
'Cause this is all I need.

"It would be best to consider which offices don't require defense against the dark arts scores to get into them," Edwin said his green eyes remarkably calm though his mind was racing. "For example the I know for a fact that the Head Obliviator, Cara League, only got an A on her DADA OWLs and never took NEWT classes. Being good at Charms isn't going to exactly help you in this situation."

He muttered a few curses in Guarani about his wife killing him, or Dr. League hiring someone to kill him, or the fact that Cara's extended family has been looking for over a decade for a good reason to kill him.

Taking a deep breath and regaining his calm he took a deep breath and said, "Mr. Borson, you obviously are in charge: how do you need our help from St. Mungos?"

Cora nodded. "Well, that's good, at least..." she trailed off, listening to Ryans speak. "Your wife, or sister?" she asked mildly, wondering how the man would know such a thing unless he was married or related to the woman. But that was of no matter. They needed to know which area to go to first. "Maybe it's best we go as a group and try to clear each level one by one." she suggested. The Ministry was so massive, after all, and she only had a vague idea of where things were. She looked to the young Auror. "It's your call.".

The phrase "working mother" is redundant.

Edwin glanced at Cora and would have let out a laugh if the situation was so bleak, "Neither, I assure you. It is complicated, but we knew each other at Hogwarts. Anyways, let's just say it is in my best interest if nothing bad happens to her if it is found out that I was here. Honestly, right now, I'm wishing I had stayed in Paraguay."

He let out a sigh and glanced between Cora and the Magnus Borson and massaged his forehead, "Since we don't know the true status of the infiltration, I would have to agree it would be wisest to stay as a group. Mind you two of us are medical specialists and not specializing in dark arts so a group would be wisest as we could make up for our weaknesses and be stronger as a whole. Then again, as she said, it is up to you Mr. Borson-you would be more familiar with this sort of situation and the ministry of course."

Tobi pulled at his tie loosening it as much as he allowed as he waited at the security desk for his badge. Due to his infancy at being a law wizard he never had to actually appear in court a lot settling most of his cases out of it and just focusing on the main point of how much his client could get out the other person. And of course his share. Man's gotta have a living. However this day he actually had to defend one of his small timers, the man who apparently taught his owls to defecate on his neighbor's things. Well, his neighbor got a bit fed up with his lunacy and decided to have a knock down drag out which turned magical rather quickly in the middle of a muggle shopping area. So of course the whole area was roped off while obliviators came and wiped any muggles minds in the area (thankfully there had only been a few handfuls) and the aurors arrested both idiotic wizards. When he had gotten the missive that he was due in court in three days because of this he didn't know whether to be elated that he would actually have his day in court or mortified that his client could be so exponentially stupid. Especially considering he had told the b*****d to stop and introduce another owl into the vicinity besides his own, taking the trail off of him and helping his chances. But no. Now instead of sleeping in he had to get up early, take a shower, and break about three of his House Elves' hearts when he told them he couldn't have his usual breakfast. He swore he never wanted to hear another elf cry in his life. When he finally got his badge Tobi pinned it on took out his pocket watch surprising himself at seeing that he was almost more than thirty minutes early. Maybe he could have had a fourth pancake, huh. He scratched behind his neck and let out an annoyed sigh before he milled about wondering if he should head on up and be bored or just stay down here and be bored but with possibilities of ending it. Some people were just in such a hurry whenever they flooed or apparated in that if things were to just slip...

xxxGreen fires cackled with a whoosh of fluctuating air in the gilded fireplaces that lined up and down each side of the vast hall, among the number of wizards' flooing in on the left-hand side, an equal amount reflected on the other, and the shouts' of destinations' can be heard from the waiting witches' and wizards' lining themselves behind a fireplace to depart. In the dark polish of the wood, the gaunt of a figure whose complexion was worn from years of ironclad truculence and peppered with gray whiskers in an otherwise white stubble, had, like another bad habit, paused to gleam over his reflection in the floorboards. The gold trim shimmered visibly against the long flow of black robes buttoned tight over his chest, and it's many pockets hidden in the pleated folds in his back and shoulders that shrouded his motions in shadows. But, like clockwork, Theodore stepped into the droll rhythm and lined himself up at the security desk, he hardly paid any note to the Fountain of Magic Brethren anymore, it would always be the same. Mutely, he procured his wand from the deep sleeve of his robe, registered it in at the front desk and had just begun to move on through the series of gates when he noticed a particular face of abashed youth, his son, Tobi—would that he could have chosen a proper name for the boy, but, it was much too late for that. It was much too late for everything, he supposed.

He had hardly made any efforts to communicate with the boy, maybe it was just stubborn pride, but that was only the half of it. Ever since Elain's death... Theodore had lost much of any hope he had left. He visited the boy several times, not that Tobi actually ever knew, but he did attend a few of his games while he was still a beater for Hufflepuff—Merlin have mercy, how could the boy be a badger? There were many discoursed actions in the young boy's life that Theodore would rather turn a blind eye towards, and had properly done so for the past several years. But that was before it meant having to see him, much less, work with him one day soon. Oh, of course he'd heard of the budding career that he was paving for himself, undoubtedly unseen before, but every wizard has the right for someone to speak on their behalf, not that most took advantage of it, but some did. Luckily, his only need for attendance would be in Courtrooms Eight and Nine (and Ten, if it's ever to be used again.) Although, that still left the possibility of the Wizengamot Administration Services on Level Two, which was exactly where he was going—since it's not like the bloody courtrooms were connected to the lifts, oh no, one had to walk the stairs to reach it. On that note, he cleared his throat, inclined his head and diverted his gaze away from his orphaned son to then parade around in the facade of having never actually seen him, it just seemed so much easier that way. He spurned forward and moved to an open lift, hoping to get in and out as painlessly as possible.

Jacob stepped off the lift, glad that he was getting a break for lunch. He'd been working overtime to make up for all the time during the school term that he had no one to watch the kids, and any break he could take was a grateful one. Vaguely he wondered how his father managed to raise both him and Rick after his mum passed, but the truth was, they were at school for most of the year and Garret had taken that time to grieve for his deceased wife. Part of him wanted to find his father to ask him how to deal with a broken heart, but he knew what would happen. His father would run, while Jacob would be obliged to arrest Garret. It sucked, but that was just the way it was. As it was, he was missing the time before his own kids went off to Hogwarts, and with a pang he realized that Marcia was likely resenting the whole situation. Jaslyn didn't give him a choice though, and with her fighting for custody of the kids, he didn't want to think about it beyond that. If he tried to delve deeper into the situation, he was likely to drown in the feelings that he knew he was burying deep.

Much like fourth year, he mused, when he woke up from a coma and felt like life had forgotten him. Except even that thought was tinged with sadness, because that was when he and Jaslyn met. Magni was being really generous with helping as much as he could, setting hours so that Jacob didn't try and kill himself with his obligation to his kids and his work, but there was only so much that the Norwegian could do. Well, besides offer for his mother to watch the kids every now and then to give Jacob a break. Vaguely he wondered what it was like to not have a broken family. His own mum watching the kids while he snuck out with Jas- with who he cared about enough to spend an evening. His father being around and watching his grandchildren grow up. Uncle Timothy was getting older, as was Rick, and Darius was shockingly patient with the whole situation and offering to help when he could, but it still didn't feel like how it should be.

Sighing, he shook himself out of those morose thoughts, knowing that they weren't going to do much beyond make him more depressed than he already was. Instead, he considered his options for lunch. He was staying over again, and he'd already contacted Timothy to let him know as much. His old head of house understood why Jacob was working, though he told Jacob not to overdo it. As a result, Magni had told him to take an hour for lunch to recharge, which Jacob appreciated. He just had to figure out what he was going to do with that hour. He fingered the pack of cigarettes in his pocket, debating about just spending the entire break smoking, but his stomach grumbled in protest of that idea. Maybe a cigarette after lunch then. He just had to figure out where he was going to eat then.

Amanda made her way down for lunch, debating where to go the entire time. Typically, she brought homemade meals from home. However, with Lucas home for the summer, making dinner with enough leftovers to feed everyone proved to be a challenge. After only one year away, and him being one year closer to his teenage years, Luke had shocked his mother with how much he was eating. Boys, she supposed. As long as her children had enough food at home, Amanda could figure something out for lunch at work. After all, there were a ton of nearby restaurants and cafes. Besides, it was worth the cost considering she was able to have Lucas babysit Jade for free while she worked without worrying whether or not the four year old would even listen to her older brother. It wasn’t fair to stick Kaitlyn on babysitting duty – Amanda’s sister had already done more than enough with helping to raise her son, and to some extent, raise Amanda when she was Luke’s age. Now that the woman was living with her boyfriend and had her own family to take care of, it would be too much to ask for.

In the fall, Lucas would be going back to Hogwarts for his second year, but Jade would be going into kindergarten. Therefore, Amanda wouldn’t have to worry about finding a babysitter for the rest of her life. Jade would continue with school, and the forty year old wouldn’t be having anymore kids. She loved her children with her entire being and would do anything for them, but two was enough. The blonde especially didn’t want to have anymore with their alcoholic father, who she had divorced. However, Amanda had decided to keep his last name so she, Lucas and Jade had the same one. Changing their last names now would only confuse Jade, and probably hit a nerve with Lucas considering he didn’t take their separation well to begin with. While in her own head, Amanda had forgotten that the lobby and reception area in the Ministry was bustling with witches and wizards during lunchtime, and had ended up bumping into a man. “Whoop – !” she exclaimed, almost getting knocked over herself. The blonde stopped and looked over at Jacob Drage. “Are you alright? I’m so sorry,” she quickly apologized. She really should have watched where she was going.

                                          ((OOC: outfit in left picture))

Jacob was still figuring out his lunch situation when someone bumped into him, quite literally. He blinked, looking over as the woman apologized and scratched the back of his head. "Oh no, you're fine. I was kinda lost in my thoughts there for a moment." The woman looked familiar, but Jacob was too busy looking her over to make sure she wasn't hurt. He then paused, realizing how he knew her. "Wait, you're Amanda Davis, right? Old quidditch captain for Slytherin? You were pretty good back in the day." He certainly remembered the game that had led to him getting nearly knocked out of the game as a keeper. If he recalled correctly, she was also one of the chasers that had made sure that Slytherin won that game. Vaguely he wondered what happened to the rest of that team. He knew one went pro, but the rest? Well, he was pretty sure that he hadn't run into any of them.

Amanda watched the man, waiting for a response. She felt pretty embarrassed at how reckless she had just been, especially in front of a familiar face that she couldn’t quite place. Considering they worked at the Ministry, the blonde figured she must have recognized him from seeing him around, but the feeling of familiarity was stronger than just a stranger passing by. They must have had some sort of interaction at one point or another. When he had responded, Amanda pursed her lips together lightly and nodded, not knowing what to say. She, too, felt as though she was lost in her thoughts – that was how they got into this mess. “Yeah, I get what you mean,” she said, about ready to walk away when the man had asked her to wait.

That’s where I know him from! she realized. Her “ah-ha” moment had entered her mind at the mention of Quidditch. “Thanks. You weren’t too bad yourself, Drage,” she responded with a smirk. If it wasn’t for the fact that Jacob hung out with a bunch of the Slytherin students during their time at Hogwarts, she might have not remembered his name. “You played keeper, right? I think I remember scoring on you a couple of times,” she continued, showing off a little – but it was all in good catch-up fun. A moment later, Amanda felt her stomach grumble and remembered why she was down in the lobby. “I was heading to grab a bite to eat – did you want to join me?” she asked, inviting Jacob along.

And you're my hope, you're my despair
                                          You're my scope, everything, everywhere
