I've been doing some studying the book of Leviticus lately and have been finding lots of paralells and symbolism. I wanted to post some things for you guys. Feel free to respond, add, discuss, etc. It will be interesting to see what others have to say.
Chapter 14 - Leprosy
We can see parallels between the process of being cleansed of leprosy and how we overcome the effects of sin.
vs. 2-3
*If leprosy represents sin, who might the priest represent?
vs. 4-8
*(a) Cedar wood is known as some thing to help preserve things from decay and corruption
*(b) Scarlet is red, reminding us of blood, which is the symbol of life and the Atonement
*(c) hyssop was used in the OT as purifying plant
*(d) blood and water are symbols or birth.
*What do you think is symbolized in these verses?
vs. 9
*What might the message of this verse be?
vs. 10-14
*See Exodus ch. 28-29. How might the symbolism apply here?
vs. 15-18
*The olive tree is an emblem of peace and purity. The olive oil became a symbol of the Holy Ghost and doing righteous deed and acts of service.
*How is this part of the process of becoming clean from sin?
vs. 19-20
*Ultimately, what makes repentance possible?
