Im wondering which cellphones use the least power. Not just the longest battery life, but uses a small amount of "juice" to run, which cellphones consume the least energy from the factory/making it till the recycling bin.
Anyone know of a good resource?

I'm kinda iffy about cell phones and a lot of electronics in general. Soooo much waste is generated by them, and so much destruction and violence is part of their production. Many cell phone companies are known to use conflict minerals (gold, tin, tungsten, tantalum) from the congo. So energy efficiency is only one of many issues associated with that industry.
I'll get back to you though. I know that a few companies are taking the initiative to use more recycled materials and not promote that trade, but I'm not sure of any that are producing cell phones commercially.

True. Im not planning on buying another phone until this one pretty much falls apart, but I know the plastic they made the casing out of is the biodegradable corn plastic. That aside, I don't feel anyone should buy new gadgets unless they need it(like if their phone falls apart).
This is more to help others find out whats the most "green" phone if they need a new one. As for the destruction and violence, it doesn't even end in the making of em. A cellphone's radiation is enough to literally make bees fall apart. You can only imagine what they do to humans over the long term!
(areyouzapped.com has a pretty fascinating book about EMFs and cellphone radiation)

I definitely agree. I'm actually thinking of just not having one after this one's done. I feel too reliant on it and it's pretty inconsistent with so many things I believe.
But yeah, it's true. One of the reasons the bee population has gotten so dangerously low. It's pretty scary actually. Thanks for the link. That does look interesting.

Thanks. smile
As for cellphones, i would sooner go without my computer than without my mobile.
But if it came down to it, id just opt for m ipod touch, or a used smartphone where I could use wifi with and not need to worry about a fancy computer or plans. I already have google voice hooked up. smile
