So I was surprised to see the new site changes for gaia.. I had no idea we had bots o.O; I mean.. the idea of botting isn't outrageous I just never thought it would happen on this site xD ( I guess now it makes sense on the fishing game.. I didn't even connect those two dots together x.x )
So have any of you seen it on Booty grab yet? I haven't played in a while so I haven't seen it myself.
Do you think it was a good idea for gaia to add them or should they have done something else to deal with the botting?
The upsides I see to this is that.. they also updated the booty grab game for users with slow computers/connections. The time/player limits have been raised.. so Yay! xD

I could do it all the time before. I might have to go try again, just to make sure. Simply just keep clicking BEFORE the count down starts, dont stop until it does, and the dolphins should say clumped together in one spot. This got me 2-3x my usual amount from dolphins.

1. Bots have been around since only a few weeks after BG took off in popularity (around the time the mermaids came out) via VIP membership on dedicated game hacking sites (though they started off as simply starting up a session and sitting in one place obtaining minimal, but easily obtained amounts of gold). A couple months ago, a user released a public bot written in python that was even more effective than the VIP bots out at the time (it captured packets sent to and from BG servers theoretically allowing a user to earn any amount of gold from any tank the bot visits). It used a script to call on a list of glowing tanks from the popular site "dolphinmania". Gaia tried to remedy this issue by ordering the closing of dolphinmania, but many underground aggregation sites/servers were promptly put up to replace them. High yield tank lists were also supplied to the writers of the bots but those were also combated with banning of accounts that used links from external sources to booty grab. Shortly after this, many coders reverted back to the more traditional "start up session and stay there earning gold" method. These along with the underground aggregation sites (especially the VIP only ones) have proven almost impossible for gaia to crack down on so it seems gaia has enacted a captcha to at least slow these bots down.
2. Yes I had seen it. I thought it was for commenting on the tank at first but then I realized it's for the session itself.
3. Yes. It may very well be the only way gaia can efficiently cut down on the number of botters for BG. After all it's not like you can go out and arrest the guys distributing the bots. They're not really doing anything illegal and even if they were, the anonymity of the internet would make it very impractical to try to go after any of them.
@Rock: No it's very possible. I just did it today on a full stone coatl tank. Only 4 were glowing but I got them to all stay right in the middle. Maxed out at 2400 with 10 seconds left on the clock.
