So I was doing one of the exercises suggested by Nuna... it involved looking at an image with an interesting pose or angle. I personally liked some stock poses that could be found on Deviantart. She also suggested poses from Pose Maniacs. Where do you guys go to find good quality reference images? What about textures?

Lately most of my references have been tektek'd stuff since I'm doing Gaia avis. * u *;
As for more realistic stuff... Honestly, if I can, I'll look at myself in the mirror if I need to, or if I'm having trouble with a hand gesture I'll take a minute to kind of study my own hand...
I don't generally look up reference stuff online, but I probably should. -.-;;

Haha, I know what you mean. Sometimes there's no better reference than yourself with a mirror = w =;;; *poses awkwardly in front of the mirror*

hmm for posing... if I can't get it done correctly from what I draw in my sketchs I sometimes take pics of me doing the same pose, and look at what the differences is between my sketchs and the photos I take. As for textures, I often check out this site http://www.cgtextures.com/all of the textures there are free which means you could do a direct copy paste and not have to worry about legal rights or anything, so I think thats one of the main reasons I go back to it so often : )

I don't actually have a mirror easily accesible for when Im drawing. Over time I've collected A LOT of pictures of.. people. Hundreds and hundreds. I can usually find something of use there. Otherwise I generally resort to deviantart for stock images and models. I've only recently started doing more in-depth backgrounds so I haven't ventured too far into textures yet. I feel like I'm cheating when I use them, and yet Im perfectly fine with others using them. ^ ^;

@kai_chiThat's an awesome texture site, thanks for the link on topic:I sometimes use Deviantart or google for references If I'm stuck on a pose or hand gesture I'll either look at myself or get a friend to pose and photograph them For textures and stuff I tend to google something I'm looking for to see if there's any design sites I can use. I mostly look for the design sites with free-use for commercial/non-commercial and don't ask you to link back. Mostly because I have so many textures/brushes, etc I can't remember where they all came from, I always download resources I find/like straight away but may not use them till months later. I've downloaded some stuff from http://mediamilitia.com/ and http://creativenerds.co.uk/ (I'm pretty sure stuff from both sites freebies section is free-use) but I haven't gotten round to using any of it yet

Maybe we should put together a resource guide of some sort for all these links.

@Om: May it serve you well ^-^!!!!!
@ demon: no prob : D glade it can be of help to you
@nuna: Yea we can do that, I was thinking of maybe re-opening the tutorial sub forum. We could maybe add all these posematic forums and texture forums to it... do you think it would be worth re-opening?
@Koichi: well its the same as copying and pasting your image. You could select the size of image you want then copy it on your computer by clicking "save image as" I believe the site now asks you to be a member if you wanna excessively upload pics though... or get really big texture sizes 3nodding

Maybe reopen it as resources an tutorials, so guildies don't get the impression they can only post tutorials there. It would also create a better way to orginize those sorts of threads, and compile the useful ones so that the imformation is still accessible. Maybe we could stickie a couple threads for general resources, and guild member resources. (Guild member resources being something along the lines of what Damien Plethora posted about recently with the guild member contacts, and general resources being a compiled database of all the interesting/most useful threads.)
