Hello lovely guild members! xD For the past three years our Secret Santa gift exchange event has been such a big hit that Vashy & I have decided to do it twice this year! Of course, we can't make up a second Christmas at a random time during the year (although, now that I think about it, that would be a pretty badass idea!) , so instead we're using Valentines Day as an excuse to let you guys get gifts for & from each other yet again! After all, Burn couldn't just do nothing for Valentines Day, & I feel that an event that hinges on buying & receiving s**t is much better suited for this guild than an event all about lovey-dovey nonsense that -- let's face it -- hardly anybody would end up participating in would be.
This event is more or less exactly like our Secret Santa event, so if you participated in Burn's Secret Santa less than two months ago, this should all be very, very familiar to you. Even if you've participated in all three of our past Secret Santa events, you still of course have to read the event rules & such... That should be a given.
I have to extend a very special thanks to Burn's Executive Vice President (or, in more comprehensible terms, Burn's #1 Vice Captain) aka_vashy13; there's no way our past Secret Santa events & our first ever Secret Admirer event would be able to take place without all her extensive time, effort, & commitment! IvyStarling -- one of Burn's most hardworking yet ever-so elusive Crew Members -- deserves a huge thanks as well! IvyStarling proposed the idea of doing a "Secret Admirer" gift exchange in my other guild, Choque, & that's how the idea for this entire event originated.

Everyone likes getting gifts right? Of course! And with the Secret Santa done and over with, and how it worked out really well, a great Crew member with the name of IvyStarling came up with the idea of a Secret Admirer. The gifts you give can be V-Day related, or if you prefer, they can just be anything. -- aka_vashy13 (Head Vice Captain)

1. If you would like to take part in this, just post here in this thread, and I will add you to the list. Make sure you write in your reply that you have read the whole first post.
2. Between Feb. 9 - 10 you will get a PM from BurnGuildMule2 saying who you have been selected to get a gift for.
3. After you receive the PM, go have fun buying gift(s)! But by Feb. 12th at the very latest, you must have their gift bought. The gift can be anywhere from 3k (3,000g) to 30k (30,000g). You may have a maximum of 3 gifts for your person.
4. DO NOT send you gifts to your secret admirer! Open a trade with BurnGuildMule2, put up to 3 items in the trade, label it with Secret Admirer and who its for. If you don't complete your trade before the 12th, than you name will be removed and you will not get a gift. It's just a way I can make sure everyone is being fair and giving gifts in the right amount and what not.
5. We'll keep track of the gifts sent by each member, and on or shortly after Feb. 14th, you will receive the gift(s) your Secret Admirer bought for you from BurnGuildMule2. We'll, of course, also at this time let you know who your Secret Admirer is! (The person you've been assigned to buy gifts for is not the same person who's been assigned to buy gifts for you.)
6. Since we have to PM you at least once, you will need to change your PM settings to public. If I can not PM you, you can not participate.
7. Please don't change your username until the event is over. If your username changes during this event, we won't be able to keep track of everything correctly, & chances are you won't end up receiving gifts on your new username even if you sent gifts from your old one. If for some reason you really, really need to change your username, please PM BOTH aka_vashy13 & elyzia letting us know.

Since I have been sick and I have to work at both my jobs today and tomorrow, I will be extending the deadline for sending gifts to the guild mule till the end of TUESDAY <2/15>. All trades NEED to be finalized by 7pm Eastern time. Than after work on Tuesday I will be starting to send them out. If your trade is not copmleted, you will not be getting a gift, so please finailize them! Thank you.

[Technically, nobody's asked these questions about this particular event, since it's the first time we've hosted this event & all, & at the time I'm writing these the event hasn't even begun yet. These are either questions that have been asked frequently during our Secret Santa event (which is obviously almost identical to this one), or questions that I anticipate being asked frequently.]

Q) The person I've been assigned to buy gift(s) for doesn't have a wishlist on their profile, or all the items on their wishlist are above the max. price limit of 30k. What should I do?
A) Don't fret, as long as you follow the rules outlined in the first post of this thread, there's no "wrong" gifts you can buy them! Here are a few suggestions for increasing your chances of buying them gift(s) they'll really like...
-- Buy them item(s) that you think would look good with their current avatar.
-- If they have a wishlist on their profile, but all the items on their wishlist are above the max. price limit, try & find item(s) that are within the price limit that are in some way similar to one or more of the items on their wishlist.
-- Buy them item(s) that have the same sort of "mood", "theme" or "vibe" as that of their current avatar. For example, if their avatar has a really cute & girly look, consider choosing item(s) that are cute & girly.
-- Read the information about the person on their profile, & try to pick out item(s) that you think compliment their personality, likes, interests, or any other information about them that their profile reveals.

Q) Do our gift(s) have to have a Valentines Day theme, or can they just be anything?
A) They certainly don't have to be Valentines themed! It's of course totally alright if they are, but it's also equally acceptable if they aren't.

Q) If our gift(s) have to be worth a total of between 3k-30k, why should we buy gift(s) that are worth more than a total of 3k? What's our motivation to spend more gold than we have to?
A) Well, the obvious answer is that it's a nice thing to do, & the more you spend on the person's gifts, the more likely it is that your gifts will help make them have a truly great Valentines Day, & that they'll really appreciate them & thank you for them.
Perhaps the reason that would ultimately be more motivating, though, is that the person who the gifts are for will be informed when they receive their gifts who purchased the gifts for them. It certainly doesn't make you look very good at all if your gifts are worth the very bare minimum, & it could even cause them to confront you about them, & you probably don't want that. Another very good reason to stay away from the required minimum of 3k is that, if the gift you're buying for the person you've been assigned has a Marketplace value of 3k at the time you purchase it, but it's Marketplace value drops to below 3k either at the time you send it to the Burn mule or at the time the person receives the gift, then you've still technically violated the contest's rules, & will be penalized accordingly for said violation.

Q) Can we spend more than 30k on gifts if we want to?
A) No, sorry.
