So I recently joined another site and, to start setting up, started doing freebie sketches.

: D I think we can expect great things from you!!!!! You seem to have an eye for detail and I think thats one of the things I love about your art : D

If I were to give some constructive critizme I would suggest working a little on your shading : ) With your sketchs you seem to be using just a black and white medium but more in a colouring way than light source way, which is ok, but I think you can do both : ). I would try to create volumes with your shadings, Try to define more the shapes using lighter taints of grey and whites were the light is hitting your characters and darker shades of grey and black for were the light starts fading out more. Cause right now the only big thing I'm seeing is the light source and volumes of your characters aren't really defined... other than that you seem to be on a good road : D You have a good eye for details, and your posing is very nice : ) I can't wait to see more updates from you, in the future : )

And since you asked to see some of our stuff as well I figured why not : ) hehe. Here are some sketchs I did of life drawing... little warning like that though, there is nudity since they were sketchs of life models 3nodding

I like your characters. Once you add color, or background to it, it'll stand on its own. biggrin I envy anime artists, I cannot draw the same characters/things twice, so kudos to you. biggrin

@Kai-Chi:
I personally love drawing nude figures. I love how soft your shading is. I'm quite heavy with mine, but learned to lessen the pressure. I just personally like things dark. twisted

Here's a few of the things I've done:

Ohhhh I really like the first and second pic you drew. The first one has so much detail and yet our eye still focus on the main character. That was really nicely done! it must have taken you hours to fill in all thoughs paterns though! I admire your dedication and time you put into your drawings : D it really does make it stand out!

The second one I just love cause it gives me more of a micheal angelo feeling to it, I love how you did the shading!. Nothing wrong in going dark, as long as you don't go to dark to fast haha >: D

Thank you. It was actually pretty easy to fill in the blanks. I need to frame my second one. I used coffee to stain the paper first, then worked with charcoal...messy, but fun. I'm stuck on that last drawing though. I know what I want to do with it, but I'm not even going to bother. I'm drained as of the moment.

really thats charcoal!!!! whoa... I salut you for that one. I somewhat dislike working in charcoal : ( I'm working on life drawings using the rub out technique with charcoals right now... and I often loose my patience with it cause its to easy to screw it up. Have you ever done rub outs in charcoal? your drawing looks more like you sketched in charcoal

Well, I had to figure out Rafael's technique in drawing his figures and they are more of hatchmarks and overlaps. I have done rub outs with charcoal before. I usually lay it on thick and erase the living daylights out of it, but it depends on the type of paper I use. You really have to be patient with it...I usually am not, but a variety of erasers would help...kneaded, pink, eraser sticks for precision, etc.

yea, thoughs are the same techniques I'm using, along with a compressed charcoal pencil for more precision... but yea... I'm someone who loves working with lines.. construction lines for the body, lines to make up the shape and form of the object/person I'm drawing. I think I have a hard time with rub outs cause its just massing out blotchs of light and there isen't really any lines when you do it
