Welcome to Blackthorn forest, which is located to the North of Blackthorn Inn. It's not that hard to find- just look around; if you see a large mass of dark and intimidating trees, then you've found it!

Forest geography: Once inside the forest, you'll notice a thick blanket of fog enveloping the lower half of your body. Be careful of your step! Blackthorn Forest is definately not the ideal place for the less coordinated. The next thing you'll notice is trees; lots and lots of trees. Look left: trees. Look right: trees. Turn all the way around: trees.

If, by any chance, you were to get lost...don't plan on finding your way out any time soon. And if you were to get lost at night...don't plan on finding your way out at all.

A silver toned shadow slipped through the trees, barely noticing the mist, after all, the creature was running on smell and hearing. It’s breaths were steady and deep, in time with the long loping strides. Laid out in front of her was a scent trail so clear that she was almost weary of following it, but it held only rabbit, not even a hint of a human hunter, not that the massive wolf thought anything more of the human’s abilities than the rabbits, but still, walking into a trap could be annoying. The she wolf followed the trail straight to the rabbit’s hole, and was sitting there debating on if it was worth digging up or not when the breeze shifted, bringing her the scent of a house, or maybe a village, most of its occupants gone. Dig up rabbit warren or go play with humans for a while. Not too much of a debate there. The she wolf smiled slightly before throwing her head back, her song ringing through the forest. Even before the last echo had faded she turned, and with a steady ground eating trot followed her nose right to the inn. She stopped just outside the line of sight however, pacing back and forth before her form began to shiver. The change was swift, and within seconds Cyra stepped out of the trees onto the road, immaculately dressed in slacks, boots, and a white shirt with a dark jacket.

Not too far from where the she-wolf was hunting for her prey, a man of average stature and ghostly white skin sat lotus position on an old stump. He had grown accustomed to rituals such as these since he awoke from his long slumber. He like to feel the energy around him, the swaying of the pine would remind him of the oceans that once surrounded the majestic castle he once grew up in.
He heard the faint sound of footsteps not too far from where he sat but he did not care to open his eyes. If one happened to stumble across this man, one might think it strange to see him bathed in sweat, his coat removed on such a foggy cold night. However, the heat he emanated was not one of metabolism but rather heat from all life around him. He was not draining life but rather manipulating the energies of them, filtering them, and then releasing it back into the air. It was one of many rituals he followed in order to stem his bloodlust.
As the last of the footsteps died out, he hummed an archaic tune, one of sorrow, one of remembrance. He had done this for quite a long time, one could think time had forgotten him!

Cyra froze, one hand resting against the trunk of the tree as she half turned back to the forest. Yes, she had been right, someone was singing, or maybe humming, it was hard to tell with her dulled human senses at this distance. The woman glanced down the road and then towards the song. After a second her choice was made. She turned and drifted back into the forest, following the sound as it became clearer. With the unconsciously silent steps of a hunter she approached, watching wearily. It's coming from there, I must have run right past without ever realizing it. How odd. Of course, her focus had been on the trail she was following, not off on other random scents. Plus, it was just far enough out of her way that she wouldn't have caught the full scent. Not that it mattered overmuch, since she was standing within sight of the stump, and its occupant. Careful to stop outside of easy range but still close enough that she could be heard without shouting she called a simple greeting.

The male open his eyes calmly, feeling enlightened.

"Dearest greetings to you, young one. What brings you to a humble spiritualist's camping ground?"

He rose from the stump, and leaned against the nearest tree.

"Come, speak with me. I have food, no doubt you are hungry."

Cyra smiled slightly when he said young one. She wasn't young by anyone's count, and she was willing to bet a nice sum that she was older than him by a long shot, still, her age wasn't the best thing to be advertising. letting it slide as if she had never noticed it she continued to smile, "I thought I heard someone singing, or maybe it was humming." Her smile widened just a touch as she continued, "And thank you for your generous offer, but I will have to decline, I ate just a little while ago." well, a little while by wolf standards. "You said this was your camping ground. You don't find it just a touch too creepy for that?"

"The sun doesn't shine, it's quiet, and I can feel the Earth beneath me. How is that "creepy" as you say?"
the male grinned slightly and tossed the female a slab of raw venison.

"Come now, I can see the hunger in your eyes so please, don't be rude. Sit with me, let us chat. It has been long since I've encountered another...well, anyone."

"Most people aren't fond of not being able to know if the sun is up or down, plus the fog. Of course, I suppose I don't have to masquerade as a human right now so I suppose I can try and drop the habit of acting human, somewhat." Cyra caught the meat absently, glancing at it, "And trust me when I say, you will not be over happy if I do eat. I don't go by human table manners and it is just as likely that I will eat this and change back as I will eat this and go running after the next thing that moves."

"I find it amusing you think me a mere human. Think. If I stay in a cool forest which is blanketed in perpetual darkness and I could sense not only your facade but hear your pawsteps, what else could I be?"
He grinned knowingly

"You may always act yourself around me,wolf. I seek you or anyone else no harm, just refuge and a home wherever it may be."

He walked to her and performed a dramatic, sweeping bow.

'I am :Lord Bartheyamus Tyrliate Aurlin, last of the Frumos Kingdom Vampires"

He grinned and flashed his fangs non-threateningly.

"Wonderful to meet you, my lady."

Cyra grinned, "it is a pleasure my lord, although you shouldn't think of me as too naive not to have known what you were. I knew the moment the breeze turned, it is simply that habit dies hard in this form." She took a half step back before bowing, the style more like that from the era of her childhood instead of matching his although she preferred the sweeping gestures. "Alas, I have no titles beyond my given name, Cyra. Werewolf." Probably should have gone with the correct formal way and curtsied, but that would look beyond odd considering I'm wearing pants rather than a dress.

"Then I suppose we both thought each other naive to each other's natures, eh? No matter, come, sit with me"
as he said this he clasped her hand and motioned to a small clearing where his camp was set up. Beside the fire pit that was central to the camp lay two stumps.

"The night is still young, yes?"

Cyra nodded slightly before following Bartheyamus to the clearing. Almost wistfully she glanced up to where the moon would be, "It is early this night of the crescent moon." After a second the trace broke and she smiled as if it had been perfectly normal, "So what brings you to these woods?"

He turned and regarded her, breaking stride.

"I left my home long ago although I can barely call it that. I don't know why here honestly, it just seems to be where fate has taken me. Surely you understand?
As for the woods, it was most convenient to stop here on my way across Europe. I'll find my place eventually whether here or France. I care little."

"What of you, my lady? Do you reside in these woods?"

"You're reason is far more noble and purposeful." Cyra sighed before smiling slightly sheepishly, "Me, I was following a rabbit." Well, actually it was a deer, and then a rabbit, then a raccoon, and then another rabbit... but he'll get the what I mean. "And the trail eventually led this direction."
