I can't help what I feel, and it's probably really selfish.
My mum was asked if she, my brother and I would want to go to India with some family friends. She said yes and came home and told me. Now she's said that I can't go and she's only taking my brother.
I was so looking forward to it. I'm completely devastated and she doesn't seem to understand that....
Am I over reacting and being too selfish here?
Just to clarify: I wouldn't be feeling this way if I hadn't been invited first. I think it is great that Andreas is going and am not jealous per say, more upset at the fact that it was invited and then it was like "oh, sorry Ruby, you can't come now" (and it wasn't the other people, just my mum deciding that I can no longer join them all).

Quote: Because you've had two trips [overseas] and he's had one. I was nine, Andreas wasn't old enough ... he had just turned 5! reading that, I seem selfish and bitchy, but like I added, I wouldn't be upset had I not been invited in the first place.

I would be annoyed. It does seem a bit unfair to uninvite you. You never really appreciate foreign culture when you are a child, it would be a much more enjoyable trip for everyone now you're an adult.

I don't think you're overreacting. I'd be devastated to.
I also don't understand the reasoning behind it. Making things even isn't a good excuse. That would be like leaving the oldest kid at home on a family trip just so the youngest has been on the same number. Whatever happened to quality over quantity? D':

i don't understand it either.
but now, although i'd love to go still, i don't think i would, because then it's like "oh, she complained about it, better let her come"
i keep trying to compensate with "oh well, i'll have an awesome summer with lots of parties and stuff", but it's not quite the same.. i doubt i'd ever get another chance to go there.

I would be upset too. That's a really stupid reason. If it was something like a money issue and they could only afford to take one, that would be different. But that boggles my mind.

It's one of the things I hate most in the world. Being promised or expecting something nice, and right at the moment of happiness, being slammed instead. It doesn't have to be anyne's fault, it can be completely out of people's control. It's still one of the worse things there is. =_=

I would be angry too. Especially if my brother got to go and I didn't.
