How many people have ever felt like their section is disrespected the most by the marching band? It hasn't happened to the section I'm in (guard) except for just one girl who constantly bashes us if we mess up one tiny thing and always talks about how much harder the people who play instruments have it and how prissy/ditzy we are. It makes me so mad. DX

Ugh yes! I'm in Drumline and all the others are like: "We have to remember notes! All you have to do is hit a drum and move!"
-_- I played marimba before I marched! I know notes! And not to gloat or anything but I was pretty darn good at it! Of course I know the notes!
Everyone (ya know, except pit since all Percussionists did atleast both in their lifetime) thinks we have it so easy, but we honestly don't. We have it the same as the rest.

I play baritone, and everyone tells the baritones and tubas, "your instruments are too big, so you should have to wait to put away your instruments". How rude!

I'm protective of my low brass kids. I'm their section leader, I'm the only one allowed to critique them. If anyone talks s**t about them, I haven't heard it yet. Mellophones too. I'm even more protective of them.

well Band Director prefers woodwinds in general so he works with them more but we have more alumni helping us sooo the brass is still better cause we have constant help (poor woodwinds they need an alumni to come help them every other section has one)

we all kinda disrespect the battery. they refuse to accept when they mess up and blame the band. one day during band camp, they were pulling and pushing the tempo and refused to take the blame even though they were far off from the dr beat.

All the sections in our band constantly make fun of one another, so it's not a big deal for us anymore. My section ('nets) have the reputation of being the quietest instrument, piccs are all tiny girls with high-pitched voices, etc. We have section rivalries too.

But we have a small band, so no one gets upset.

Meggie Bubble I play baritone, and everyone tells the baritones and tubas, "your instruments are too big, so you should have to wait to put away your instruments". How rude! The hell? I play tuba, and in middle school, I was always the last one out because everyone else had to put their cutesty little flutes or clarinets away. I have a freakinng full size tuba in my hands, but it's fine, it's not like its heavy or anything, but your piccolo must be, so go in before me! rolleyes
( I don't march tuba sadly. crying )
Anyway, some people think pit's lazy. We are NOT. We work just as hard as you do and we come home tired just like you. scream (This isn't targeted towards you.)

not in my high school. we didn't have it. if we did then our bd would make us do bleachers and those in club med would be doing swimmies. uhg... i hated swimmies.
but i saw it alot in other bands. i just got so mad at them. I mean come on we all are in marching so be nice. we all are important and we all have to work hard to make the show as good as it gets.
Remembwer a band is only as good as its weakest link. in this case it means section. getting down to the sections it means the worst person in the section.

How rude! ask your bd if you can leave your cases out in the band room. Put them in the sections and push them against the walls. that way pit can still get their stuff out and if another group like the chorus has to use the band room they can use it.

hiogurl123 Ugh yes! I'm in Drumline and all the others are like: "We have to remember notes! All you have to do is hit a drum and move!" HECK YES. O:<
Moving on...
The band mostly respects us. Honestly, most of the beasts in our band are in the drumline. However, people are always bashing the pit! They don't count them as much, and I feel really bad for them. They know how to march (correctly, might I add), and they work just as hard as the band does. D:
Sadly, lots of the kids continuously "bash" the bassline (my section). They think bass drum is easy and just for those who didn't make snare or tenors.
