A smooth, delicate palace, atop a single bumpy mountain nestled valleys, enshrines a coiled snake in mist. When left alone, the snake sleeps quietly, ever waiting.

But in the blink of an eye, an invisible invader can elicit great anger from the snake. The constantly moving invader would confuse and upset it.

Should the invader run toward the snake, it would lash out at him. A fight would ensue and visible, tense energy would be released. The snake, blinded by rage, would attack anything that touched his palace.

(PART OF IT GOT CUT OFF AND I DIDN'T NOTICE! )
What is this fragile palace?
Bonus: What is the invader?

I'll tell you that Ly is more or less on the right track with a tesla coil.

HINT: a big part of this is that the energy is VISIBLE, yet the "invader" is invisible.

I think I know what the problem is Metaru... It's a little unclear what you are looking for in your riddle. You have a great lead up, good background, then nothing... maybe if you clarify it a bit. sweatdrop

Hmmm, you say I"m close with my tesla coil answer, is the invader perhaps electricity flowing through say a plasma globe... I don't know why but every time I read that riddle I thik of something electrical... gonk rofl

Well, the invader part is right. It is Electricity. Congrats!
But the palace remains a mystery. Should I give the answer, or are we gonna keep this going?

HINT: a plasma globe is getting a lot warmer.
