When I say today, I really mean yesterday.
Yesterday was my birthday.
For most of the day, I'll admit, I was pretty unhappy.
I missed my family really badly.. it was my first birthday without them around. As the day went on, I felt pretty shitty. It might sound really selfish, I guess, but I suppose I expected a little more from my boyfriend. Not gift wise, I don't really care about presents. But, I guess I kind of wanted it to be more.. special? I don't know.
I got several phone calls from family, quite a few e-mails and facebook wall posts.. <3 And they made me feel special. But, it wasn't the special I'm used to, I suppose.
Anyway, what really made yesterday amazing.. came at the very end.
My boyfriend's mom had bought me a small strawberry cheesecake and stuck a "19" candle in it just for me along with an adorable card.
I ended up crying. She's only known me for a couple of weeks and she already makes me feel like I belong in the family.
I don't think I've ever really cried from happiness like that.
In any case.
My birthday wasn't as bad as I thought it would be.
I honestly figured I'd be crying the whole time just thinking about my family.

Sounds like a great boyfriend's mom. That's really sweet! Plus cheesecake is like... the best.
I don't have to worry about seeing my family on my birthday when I go to college... it's Christmas eve so I'll definitely be home.
