I just graduated high school this spring. Yay me, right? NOT. I'm going into marching band (well, band in general) withdrawal! gonk Band was pretty much a year round thing for four years for me and now I feel lost.
I really want to do marching band. Where I'm going to college in the fall there is a DCI group (the Bluecoats heart ) about an hour and a half away, which would be an awesome opportunity for next year, one problem: I'm a woodwind player. crying
Sorry, I just had to get that out there. sweatdrop
Discuss: band withdrawal, DCI and their anti-woodwind ways, your love of marching band, and anything else to do with marching band.

Well, All I can say is either: 1. IF you're a pianist, then Id suggest trying out for pit/front ensemble .__. 2. If you are a fast learner, try go for cymbals? O_o 3. If you're crazy, rent a brass instrument and tweak on it until the season comes around D:
Best of luck...

I'd try to pick up a brass instrument (maybe mello?), or aim for playing synth if you play piano. :]

i have a friend who only played woodwinds all throughout highschool but when he graduated he decided to try out for DCI, so he picked up a mellophone, learned it, tried out, and made it
so it can be done c: try it!

Haha, I have the same problem, but not only do I play clarinet, I've never marched corps style in my life. (high step for me) So I'm even more hopeless. xD
I'm sure you'll find a way though. As Randy Pausch said, the brick walls are just there to keep out the people who don't want it as badly as you do. Or something like that. I think I might be one of those people...I'm far too lazy to learn a brass instrument at this point in my band career...
