So our lecturers e-mailed us a list of research projects they're doing this summer and opened the applications for summer internships. One position was involved in exactly the type of research I want to do, so I applied for it and got an interview, which went really well. I just received an e-mail telling me that the final decision had been based on exam marks and that I had JUST been beaten by another student. They were very impressed by my enthusiasm and knowledge of the subject but I was "unsuccessful on this ocassion". I thought I had this post in the bag, I'm really disappointed you guys.
Without any work experience, it's going to be really really hard for me to get on to a PhD program over everyone else who has a shitton of work experience. And I won't be able to get any next year, this was basically my last chance. And my lack of studying for exams is what ******** me over, despite my express passion for studying parasitology or my large amount of extra reading, I wasn't good enough.

Bah,... thats rather lame to make a final decision based on exam marks. rolleyes
Sure exam scores and what not matter alot but it doesn't always means its the best choice to choose based on those.
Just gotta love it when life gives ya that set back kick. neutral

That totally sucks, they are going to be lacking for sure Kyle.
I wish that they had chosen you, because I am sure
you would have done totally great with them. I hate to hear
that they had to base the last of the interview on exams.
Because lets face it some people are better test takers, that
doesn't mean they are more fit for a job. They should have done
on the job training and let the best man stay after a week,
at least then you would have won or lost fairly. ;[

Ouch, sucks big time bro.
Just to get your mind off the subject, I have a question: What exactly is Parasitology? Is it just the study of parasites? Or is there something more?
