Hi, everybody. Me again. Haven't been posting a whole lot in the ol' ATG lately, I guess... I mean, y'know, I could throw you this excuse or that, but the bottom line is that I'm a bit overwhelmed with life right now.
As many of you already know, I recently relocated from my training school (and home for a year and nine months) in Charleston, South Carolina to my official command in Norfolk, Virginia on board the U.S.S. George H.W. Bush. Any of you who -didn't- know that, well... Now you do. biggrin
Anyway, I'll get to the point now. On Sunday my ship is leaving on a two-week cruise out into the Atlantic Ocean to do some training stuff. There's more to it, but the basics of it is that I'm going to be away for two solid weeks. I know. Crappy, right? Well in light of my first mini-deployment, I figured I'd make this little thread to give you guys some insight into the world I'm in, and the world Arcanus is getting himself into.
Basically, you guys can use this as a place to discuss the Navy, or any other military branch for that matter, and how it has affected you. If you're planning on joining, have parents or friends in the service, have information to offer, or just want some friggin' answers, post it here! Me? Well, I'm going to use this thread to give you guys updates on the goings on of my ship and what I'm doing while I'm at sea. How can I do that, you might ask. Well, I'll tell you how.
The Bush has a phone circuit on board that allows any compartment to call any other compartment. Sort of like a miniature city, right? Well, after this two-week (yeah... AFTER...) underway, their planning on having hardware install into every phone on the ship, allowing anyone to call anywhere in the United States and Canada, no matter where the ship is in the world. I know! Awesome, right? So I'll be able to call Yunie, Lin, Roland, Maja... One of you guys... and update you all through them. Savvy?
Long story short, this is an information thread. I feel like you guys have put up with my complaining for long enough without getting some decent reports from me as to what the hell I'm doing. So yeah! Let's get'er goin'!
