So, I'm guessing most people decide what college to go to based on factors like academics and location, and not on how good their band is. Haha. edit: so apparently I am the only lame one who did not even think about marching band when applying for colleges so never mind that
But if you could pick a college band to join, which one would it be? What awesome bands have you seen on tv or youtube and thought, "I wanna go to that school"?
Personally, I love my current college band...but if I had to go to another school, I'd definitely pick one of the HBCUs like Grambling State or Southern. Their bands are sooo amazing. *_*

West Virginia University.
Their band is one of the biggest reasons why I've chosen to go to college there.
They have a really good music ed. program too.. and that's important.
Soo yeah WVU for sure.

I would go to OSU just for their marching band.
But, I'm going to Southern Oregon, and I'm pretty content with their percussion ensemble = w=

University of Massachusetts. I wouldn't want to go to school there, but their marching band is one of the most amazing things I've seen. Especially their Pirates of the Caribbean show at Allentown this past season. <3

XD I chose two of my prospective colleges BECAUSE I knew their band programs were good. Or maybe I'm just a music minor... o.O Anyway, back on topic. XD ) (And yes, the fact that the first is a VIDEO GAME show and the second got to perform LIVE in a MUSIC VIDEO with OK GO influenced my decision... )

Our school is playing them in 2012/2013 and I am SO SAD I won't be in band anymore. ...Please be joking D:Naw, haha, USC has really great musicians, but they're kind of...hated by everyone. xD It's cool though, I mean they are famous and all. That's awesome. For me the music program was definitely a factor, but I didn't know anything about the marching band (especially cause ours isn't run by the music dept). James Madison University, the Marching Royal Dukes.
I actually really want to go there, so if I get accepted to the school I'll be one of the Dukes at least one year of college. Hopefully more, but still. 8D

U of O) the marching bands play a game of flag football before the actual game. That to me is awesome just by itself xd

That to me is awesome just by itself xd Ohh I see. I didn't know they had a game like that! That does seem really fun. I wish our band had flag football with Stanford. I bet it'd be super fun because they're so crazy and weird.

Maybe I should edit the topic. xD Well, it also sways my opinion when the only time I've been to the campus thus far has been for their summer band program, and during the normal year the only time I hear about JMU is when we see their band perform at a specific marching festival. I've seen more of JMU's dining hall and band room than academics, but I have so many friends who go there I've got a pretty good idea. xD
