When it's 6, it is five. When it's 8, it is seven. What is it?
Answer for those who have given up: A digital clock. When it reads 6 it uses five bars, two vertical, two horizontal and one vertical. When it reads 8, it uses seven bars, two vertical, three horizontal and two vertical.

It's none of those, though it is related. It is not an object, per se, but part of one.

This is likely wrong but it's been bothering me and I just have to get it out of my system: I keep on thinking of the gaps between objects when you line them up in a row.
