We all seem to be at different levels of knowledge on different things (characters, vocabulary, etc), so this is pretty much the thread to ask questions and get help from everyone else. ^_^ It seems like the "Let's Practice!" thread is good for staying in Nihongo, so if you want to ask a question in English, this is a better thread to do so, as to let us practice communication in the other one.

Okay, Aurora-san, I noticed you used "benkyoshimasu" several times. I feel like I learned this at some point, but forgot it? Maybe I never learned and I'm just a stupid gaijin? (most likely option) What does this mean? sweatdrop

@HK123 Don't say you are stupid. I was actualy the one who purchased the new sub-forum and decided to be Japanese language thread. I am like right now working on putting a Hiragana thread, Katakana thread, Kanji thread, and grammar section. Plus right now I just got out of my Japanese Class. I will post a thread soon on how to conjugate verbs and adjectives.
Benkyoushimasu means to study and is in the present tense. (It has a long O sound which is why I added U after the O that is the correct way.
Dictionary form is Benkyousuru and is an irregular verb. I will soon post a thread that will help you. I am just right now working on it. mrgreen

Ah, thanks! People have used that a couple times, and I didn't know what it meant. ^_^
Good idea making this sub forum, it seems as though several of us are learning this language, so it'll help to learn it together.

You are welcome!! 4laugh Yup a lot of us are learning. It is good to take a class because you can work on the pronounciation. I recommend you to take a Japanese course with a native speaker. I really like my sensei; she is super amazing.

Yeah this is a great idea. And yeah you're not stupid, I mean I forget A LOT of really simple vocabulary and other words and I know how you feel, fortunately, my sensei is an amazing teacher and understands that it's hard to remember certain words and vocabulary when you're not fluent in the language. I often have to refer back to my book to look up words.. makes me feel dumb when I find them and go, 'Oh! I so knew that..' XD
Sorry about that again, it happens and you're not a stupid gaijin. razz you're just human, that's all. :]

^_^ Thanks, guys.
Yeah, I am taking the course at school, and I absolutely love my sensei! He's so hilarious, he's the only reason I remember any of the hiragana or katakana, haha. He has all these stupid memory devices like "AHHH YOU STABBED MY FISH" that really make no sense, but hey, it helps. xD

Hehe, you're welcome! :] XD Mine is also really funny, it makes the class so much more enjoyable when you have a teacher that can mess up, a long side yourself, and it be totally hilarious. He gives us these really interesting stories of when he was in Japan, and it makes me that much more eager to go there one day!
He was born in America, but he speaks Japanese so well! Well.. I guess that's what happens when you spend 12 years in Japan.. But anyway, I'm soooo glad I have him as my Nihongo sensei!

Ohayou, minna~
Does anyone have a good website to learn kanji? It's very frustrating to understand verbal Japanese but not written, just because you don't know the kanji. *pout* I have a senpai helping me, but worksheets or something would be greatly appreciated!
