how do you ask a guy if he's gay? Because I am attracted to this one guy in school, but I am too shy to ask. What do I do?

Ask one of his closest friends instead? Then if you're wrong it wont be so bad..
Or you could ask him to do something casual like 'hangout' and see what kind of response he gives.
Does he have a myspace or facebook page? Those might tell you his orientation.
With that given, you could always just ask him directly. If he is offended by the question then maybe he wouldn't make a good friend, much less a boyfriend.

Bring up Prop 10 or some other news-worthy gay-related thing and see how he reacts. Or if you have a LGBT club at your school, invite him to it sometime.

see his views on gay issues but don't assume he's gay, because realistically he probably isn't and even if he is, he might not like you the way you like him
