at the fiance's house there is no recycling so everyone in that area just throws everything away.

also we are looking for a house so we can move in together and a couple of the ones we have looked at are also in no recycling areas.

is there anything i can do other that just writing letters to the city?

Keep all your recycling in separate bins, and if it is food containers give it a rinse. Then every few weeks u can run it down to a recycling center. It is free. It is actually better to recycle this way anyway, because most recycling services send a completely different gas guzzling truck to pick up the recycle. Plus they usually can't take everything, like the one in my area won't take glass.

how would i find a place near me? right now im living with my dad and we just let the trucks take it to who knows where

I also recommend getting a few re-usable shopping bags to hold your recycling. That way you can just toss the recycling in your car(or over your shoulders on a bike) and dump the items in their respective bins and reuse the bags. =3

I always suggest writing letters to city but another thing you can do is make flyers about the importance of recycling and give it to all your neighbors and hopefully it can start a chain reaction.
