So the PSP has been out since 2004!

Overall I think that the PSP has done one hell of a job. It actually was able to stand against Nintendo and make a name for itself. So I think a actual successor would be nice.

So lets get down to it.

For me this is what I want to see:

Hardware:
- 4.0 inch screen. Sony might want to take some cues from LGs Chocolate Touch (http://www.idiologic.com/journal/img/Chocolate Touch.jpg) for how wide to make it.

- 256-512MB of RAM. I'm hoping for 512. Most of your smart phones have this.

- For the CPU it really would not be hard to pick up a 1Ghz one. But if not maybe a 550-600 MHz one. But for longevity I think 1Ghz would be the best.

- AMOLED screen. FOR SURE DO THIS! Sonys X series walkman has this. AMOLED are energy efficient and very good in sunlight! Which is something we've had trouble with handhelds. Glare. Hell maybe Sony could work with Samsung on getting their new Super AMOLED screens.

- Actually use GOOD MATERIALS. Like glass for the screen, metal and what not. Might raise the price but glass would really help with less scratches and metal would make it more durable. Of course though wimpy people might go out and be like "OMG ITS SOOOO HEAVY"

- Bluetooth, WiFi, Mic, STANDARD USB PORT! Go with Micro. Sony had it right with the mini USB then ******** it up with that proprietary port BS. I don't mind Memory sticks but it might be worth it to go MicroSD.

- While on the topic of memory card... It would be nice to have on board memory. Either 32GB or 64GB.

- For the media I'm at a loss. I don't think people want pure download only but what are you going to do? UMD 2s?

- 3G antenna....

Software

XMB is nice but it is well outdated. The PSPs was cool back in the day but its functionality is weak. Sony needs to REALLY needs to revamp it. Add more video formats, like ACTUALLY PURE divx/xvid.... The PS3 has it but it really sucks.

Also add MULTITASKING. Between different functions and games. For the web browser Sony should look into using a webkit based one. Popular devices like the iPhone, Android phones, and Palm webOS phones. These browsers are VERY good mobile ones and can support stuff like you know Full Flash 10.1.

I would like BC with original PSP games.

Well hopefully Sony can work something out with Adobe. The browser on the PSP is REALLY old. I mean if you look at the about page it says it has Macromedia Flash. For those who don't know Macromedia was acquired by Adobe in late 2005.

If Sony goes out and uses webkit we could really have a great web browsing experience on the device. Webkit is used in phones like the iPhone, Palms new WebOS phones (pre and pixie) and Android devices. I have a Droid and I use the browser ALL the time. It is really good and beats the PSPs and PS3s browser.

Umm... ever heard of books?
