Ch.2 Wings of a dragon
Kurrashi woke up the next morning in a dungeon his feet were shackled with a chain that lead to a heavy ball at the end. His hands were handcuffed behind his back. Worse of all he was human. He pendant was taken away from him therefore he couldn’t spread his wings. Truly he was trapped. Upstairs he could hear noises. He stood up and walked to the bars and looked out. It was a typical dungeon there was a big muscular guard sleeping and the keys were hanging above his head. If Kurrashi could somehow get the keys, he could escape. Then once he was out how would he get home?

Meanwhile in the forest Daceria, Adam, Forest, and Kallman were all together once again. Skye was three years almost four. Skye was also fast asleep in her room.

“You know it’s nice to be able to sit and relax and not have to worry about hunter’s attacks.” smiled Forest nudging against Kallman.

“You know what’s really nice not having to watch my son for two whole weeks. Man this is going to be the best two weeks ever!” smiled Kallman putting his arms around Forest.

“Yes and Adam and I are going to take Skye to the village for the first time on her fourth birthday.” smiled Adam.

“Are you sure she’s ready for that?” asked Forest with concern in her
eyes.

“Yes, Forest don’t worry. Skye has her pendant and with Adam around no one’s going to be taking it anytime soon.” smiled Daceria.
Keri and Jannette were in the grand hall talking about their successful mission. All they needed now was the blue pendant. It was said that when the two pendants were brought together that it would bring great power.

“So, sister what are we going to do with the twerp?” asked Keri

“No worries, this dragon boy will grow up and when he does he’s in our control. After all without us he’ll die.” Laughed Jannette.

Down in the dungeon Kurrashi heard this and could not believe his ears.
They were planning to keep him until he became old enough to be useful. Kurrashi began to cry and cry for his father to save him. He only managed to wake the guard.

“Listen, kid I’m here to watch you so don’t cry about it.” Glared Ralph the old one.

“Who are you and why am I here?” asked Kurrashi. He wanted answers and he wanted them now.

“My name is Ralph and I’m the oldest hunter around. I personally don’t know why you are here. It has something to do with that red pendant that was around your neck. Supposedly there is another. A blue pendant that with the red one gives the controller extordinary powers. That is all I know.” Answered Ralph.

“Will they ever let me go? If the pendant’s all they want then why am I here?” cried Kurrashi. He wanted so back to run to his father but he couldn’t fly not without his pendant.

“Listen, boy you are the only dragon known to man. That makes you rare and demon hunters are always searching for rare things. For example when our original leader Kedro was alive Kedro searched years for the princess of the silver wolves. The daughter of the king of the wolves and the last of the clan. Unfortunately he failed to retrieve her and died because of it. Now Keri wishes to kill her once we find her again.” Explained Ralph.

“Will she kill me?” he cried. Just then Jannette walked down the stairs and took Ralph’s spot.

“Go eat Ralph, I’ll watch the kid for a while.” She smiled gracefully sitting on the bench and looking right into Kurrashi’s fiery hazel eyes. Jannette had never before seen such eyes.

“Good afternoon my boy.” Smiled Jannette.

“Go away.” Yelled Kurrashi. He was just a five year old not some adult
that could understand why the hunters valued him so much.

“Go away? Why that is rude to say. Listen, kid I’m not here to hurt you to help you actually. I bet you want your freedom don’t you?” asked Jannette. Kurrashi shook his head he also wanted to know if they had Manah.

“Well, I will grant your freedom on two conditions. First you are loyal to us, if you disobey our orders, we’ll kill you. Second we want you to find us the blue pendant. Someone has it, we just don’t know who. Your mission is to find this person and bring them to me. After that I will personally take you home where you belong.” Smiled Jannette.

“Okay you have a deal.” Smiled Kurrashi. If capturing one person meant seeing his homeland again then he would do that. Jannette opened his cell and released him.

“Remember you are a human. Tell no one and I mean no one that your actually part dragon. You see dragons in our world don’t exist, therefore if you tell you’ll die.” Instructed Jannette as Kurrashi ran out of the building and into the mountains. Kurrashi didn’t have a clue where he was supposed to go but he knew what he had to do. Kurrashi looked on the mountains and saw a cave. A beautiful lady with ears was holding a little boy in her arms and giving it kisses. This made Kurrashi think of his mother. His mother had went on a mission in Xavier’s land when they were still at war. She had never returned. Kurrashi refused to believe she was dead, in his heart she was alive somewhere. He began walking to the lady. Once there the lady held the kid firmly and turned to him.

“Why, hello there are you cold? Would you like to come in and rest for a
bit?” asked Aurora seeing the redness of his cheeks. He was just a small boy but older then Levi that she could tell.

“Yes, please and thank you.” Smiled Kurrashi as he entered the cave. On his way in he saw a young man looking at him oddly.

“Travis we have a cute little visitor.” Smiled Aurora patting his head. Kurrashi looked at Travis again and now he was smiling. They didn’t even know who he was, let alone what he was and they accepted him for him. Aurora walked Kurrashi to the grand hall and they sat down. Aurora handed Levi to Travis to take care of and he closed the door on his way out.

“My name is Aurora who are you?” she asked nicely not wanting to scare the kid. If he would’ve been out much longer he would have froze to death.

“My name is Kurrashi.” Replied Kurrashi nervous and a little scared. Would these people be like his parents or would they be like the hunters and throw him in a dungeon.

“Kurrashi, ah that’s a pretty name. My brother’s wife has a brother named Kuriame. I can see how the names blend.” Smiled Aurora.

“That man Travis was he your brother?” asked Kurrashi. Aurora looked at him and couldn’t help but laugh.

“No, no, no never in a million years my boy. Travis is my husband, my brother isn’t around.” Laughed Aurora.

“Is your brother dead?” asked Kurrashi not wanting to upset her.

“No, he’s quite alive. That little boy I was holding is his son. I’m babysitting him for a couples of weeks to give them a break.”

“So Kurrashi where did you come from? Are your parents alive?” asked Aurora. She’d gladly take him in, the kid was hilarious!

“I don’t know, I was kidnapped and brought here. My family is far away and they have no idea where I am or have to find me.” Answered Kurrashi starting to tear up. Aurora grabbed him and pulled him into her arms.

“Everything is going to be okay. I’m here now.” Whispered Aurora to him. Outside the door Levi and Travis could hear them.

“Come on Levi let’s go play tag.” Giggled Travis as he knew Aurora wanted to do this on her own. Travis knew why Aurora was doing it. For years Aurora and him had tried to have a kid but never did they. Aurora wanted to be a mother but could not get pregnant so instead she spoiled Levi, Kallman’s kid and know this Kurrashi kid.

“Do you know who kidnapped you and why?” asked Aurora.

“There were two of them. They were demon hunters, named Keri and Jannette. They said they kidnapped me because of my red pendant.” Explained Kurrashi.

“Keri? Oh dear this isn’t good. Travis I need you!” hollered Aurora. Travis ran in with Levi by his side.

“What’s wrong?” asked Travis.

“Keri kidnapped this boy from his home and stole a red pendant from him. Do you realize what this means for Skye?” asked Aurora.

“Yeah, they’re after her blue pendant as well. Kurrashi do you know their location?” asked Travis. Kurrashi thought so Skye was the person he need to capture to be freed but how could he do that. These people were so nice and warm compared to the demon hunters.

Kurrashi knew he was only five so capturing someone he wasn’t ready for. He decided to tell them the truth.

“Jannette told me if I didn’t bring the blue pendant to her she would kill me.” Cried Kurrashi.

“What?!?” shouted both Aurora and Travis.

“You’re a five year old. How are you supposed to do that. If you tried to
capture Skye Adam or Kallman would kill you just for trying. If wouldn’t matter to them if you are five. Listen Kurrashi whatever you do don’t listen to the hunters. They are bad news and we can help you get home.” Explained Aurora.

“Wait a second why would the hunters want a human anyway?” asked Travis to Aurora.

“Your right that is odd. Kurrashi that pendant did it allow you to be part demon?” asked Aurora.

“Not a demon, a dragon. I come from a land up in the clouds. My father is the king of the red dragons and he made me a red pendant because I’m only half dragon. When I have that pendant on I grow wings and can fly but without it I’m just another human.” Explained Kurrashi hoping they wouldn’t kick him out because of it. They both whispered to each other and then looked at him.

“Kurrashi we are going to raise you until we can figure out a way to get you home where you belong. You need to promise though that when we get visitors that are human that you don’t tell them you’re a dragon.” Explained Aurora.

Meanwhile Daceria, Adam and Skye were in the village at Adam’s old hut celebrating Skye’s fourth birthday.

“Happy birthday Skye!” they both exclaimed as she blew out the candles. Skye looked happily at them and smiled with glee.

“Presents, presents!” commanded Skye tugging at Adam’s pant leg.

“Hold your horses kid. Your presents will be here soon. Do you have mommy’s present?” asked Adam.

“Yeah, and it’s pretty.” Smiled Skye showing off her blue pendant.

“All right, I’m going for a walk in the town would you like to come?” asked Adam. Daceria shook his head at him to take the pendant off before taking Skye outside in the town.

“Why so she’ll be human like her dad?” asked Adam

“Yes we can’t risk Keri finding her, let alone that pendant. You see Adam there are two pendants. One is blue and one is red. It is said that when the two pendants are together they create a superior power. Kai told me off the legend when he gave the pendant to me and we can’t risk Keri getting that power.” Explained Daceria.

“I guess your right then.” Replied Adam taking Skye’s pendant and handing it to Daceria.

“Mine! That’s mine why are you taking it?” asked Skye not upset. Today was her birthday they weren’t supposed to play with her presents.
Adam scooped up Skye in his arms and they headed outside. They walked through the town while Adam showed Skye what was good and bad. Then when they got to the market place Adam saw Keri on a platform.

“Attention! Attention! Anyone who has information on a young boy named Kurrashi needs to report it immediately to the demon hunters. He is our captive and we want him back. He has long black hair and hazel eyes. He is about five or six years old. The reward for his return to us is ten million dollars.” Declared Keri to the crowd.

“Wow, that’s a lot of money for some kid. I wonder what’s so special about it? No one before was worth that much except for Daceria. Then to his surprise Keri saw him and waved for him to come over. Adam came over and went to the platform. Skye was hiding behind his leg not sure what to think of Keri.

“Hello, Adam you wouldn’t happen to know where I can find this boy do you?” asked
Keri.

“No, and even if I did I wouldn’t tell you. Now what do you really want?” asked Adam.

“Well, I noticed she isn’t with you. Where is she?” asked Keri.

“None of your business. You made a deal you would leave her alone.” Explained Adam.

“Really, oh that’s right but I never said I wouldn’t ever see her again. Now who’s the little one?” asked Keri looking at Skye now. Skye felt like running for the hills all the way back to where Daceria was. She had a gut feeling that that was not a good idea. Keri looked at her closely up and down and said.

“Your Daceria’s daughter aren’t you?” asked Keri.

“Go away! Daddy and mommy tell me I can’t talk to people who wear X’s on their shirts.” Cried Skye. Adam intervened between them and picked up Skye.

“Listen Keri if you want to go after Daceria or my daughter you’ll have to go through me first.” Declared Adam as he left and ran into the forest. Adam knew Keri would follow him so he had to take Skye somewhere safe. He was heading for the swamp. He knew Keri knew the swamp all to way, if she entered she’d die.

“Daddy where are we going?” asked Skye knowing that her mother was the opposite way they were going.

“We can’t let that lady get a hold of us or mommy so were going to visit Aunt Forest and Uncle Kallman.” Explained Adam. He couldn’t tell her the complete truth not until she was older.

“Who is that lady? Is she evil?” asked Skye as they continued running for the swamp.

“Her name is Keri, and yes she is evil. Mommy and Daddy both hate her. That is why we don’t want you around here, understood?” asked Adam as they entered the swamp and stopped.

“Yes, daddy I won’t go near her, I promise.” Smiled Skye. Adam messed with her short brown hair and made it a mess.
Kallman saw them from his tree house and jumped down to meet them. Forest followed curious to see why Daceria wasn’t with them. Once there Kallman looked so tall to Skye that Skye hid behind her father’s leg.

“Ah, she’s shy isn’t she?” asked Kallman getting on his knees and holding out his arms. “I won’t hurt you. You are safe here with Uncle Kallman.” He smiled. Skye went to him and embraced him.

“Adam where is Daceria?” asked Forest.

“Forest I can’t explain now but we are in danger. We need a place to chill until things cool down.” Whispered Adam to Forest.

“Okay, meet me at the secret waterfall and have Kallman watch Skye until we return.” Whispered Forest to him. Then Forest told Kallman. Kallman picked up Skye and they raced off to the tree house.
Forest and Adam went to the secret waterfall. No one except the family knew about this place so it was the safest spot for them to talk.

“Keri is back and with a vengeance.” Explained Adam.

“You don’t mean she’s after Skye do you? We were doing so good keeping Skye a secret from the hunters.” Asked Forest.

“No, that’s not it. She saw Skye but she doesn’t know that she is Daceria’s daughter. She is after a boy by the name of Kurrashi. She said something about a red pendant and Skye has a blue pendant. It’s said that when the two are brought together they bring great power to the wielder. If Keri gets a hold of the power Daceria and I are as good as dead.” Explained Adam to Forest.

“Hmm.. How can we protect Skye when she needs the pendant to be a half
demon?” asked Forest.

“The only thing we can do. When she is old enough we have to tell her the truth. The fact that she’s only a quarter demon. I hate to do it but I’ve got no choice. I want more than anything in the world to protect Skye and Daceria and I will. You can be sure of that at least. How are things going with Levi does he understand he’s just a half breed?” asked Adam.

“I swear Levi is an exact image of Kallman. He knows about his human blood and he doesn’t care as long as he can be like his dad. He is a daddy’s boy that’s for sure.” Smiled Forest missing Levi. She couldn’t wait until next week when they would see Aurora. Forest was sure that Aurora was busy spoiling Levi. Forest understood though, Aurora didn’t have her own kid to spoil.

“Yeah, well Skye is not at all like her mother. I swear those two are complete opposites!” laughed Adam.

“Really, yeah now I realize what you’re saying. Skye is more daring and not afraid whereas Daceria is shy and slow to warm up. That must mean Skye takes after you then.” Smiled Forest.

“Yeah, that has to be it, but she always around her mother. I work in the village so she doesn’t see me as much as she sees her mother.

“Adam, how long will you have to stay in the swamp?” asked Forest knowing full well Kallman didn’t have space for them.

“I think I’ll head back tomorrow. I’ll take Skye and show her the hot springs along the way. We’ll sleep in Daceria’s old home.” Smiled Adam as Kallman came back and headed Skye to Adam. Skye was now fast asleep in his arms.

“Your good with kids, thanks Kallman.” Smiled Adam walking out of the swamp and into the forest. They went to the hot spring and Adam went inside the tree and put Skye to bed.
Meanwhile in the snow mountains Kurrashi was in pain. Jannette had cast a curse on him that drained his energy. Kurrashi went outside in the snow to see her waiting.

“Knew it wouldn’t take long. Now if you want the pain to stop, tell me who has the pendant?” asked Jannette.

“No, I’ll die before I tell you.” Yelled Kurrashi. Ralph and Russell came up
from behind and threw a sack over his head and tied the top.

“Should we throw this pest into a river?” asked Russell.

“No, that is too simple. He will tell us in time. Take him to my house and tie him to a chair. I’ll meet you there once I find my sister. She is always disappearing into that pathetic village trying to make money for herself. No one in that village even has a clue what a dragon boy looks like, let alone is strong enough to capture one.

In the morning Kurrashi awoke and found himself bound to a chair. His hands were tied in front of him and his feet tied to the legs of the chair with ropes. Kurrashi had no idea where he was but he knew the hunters had him. Jannette and Keri entered the house and shut the door as they sat down and looked at him.

“Listen, kid we tried to tell you. We don’t want to hurt you, we just need you to tell us where the blue pendant is. Once you tell us we’ll let you return to your homeland.” Smiled Jannette. Jannette and Keri knew the truth they had destroyed the land and only saved two dragons. This boy and a girl that was with him. Manah was locked tightly up in a secret dungeon in the land of the dead. She was put in Kedro’s old fortress chained and gagged. They couldn’t risk her being revealed to Kurrashi just yet. Wait until he was a little older and then he would tell them to save her from death. After all they were the last of their kinds. Kurrashi was a red dragon and Manah was a black dragon.

Kurrashi didn’t know what to say or do. These two were demon hunters and it was like Aurora had told him, they were bad news. Kurrashi looked at them and looked up at the wall.
