So 100 percent of the time when I wear lolita I'm gothic lolita. But lately I keep falling in love with Angelic Pretty dresses, and when I finally have a job and the money I would really like to get more and more sweet lolita mixed in.
At the moment I have black hair. It's short in the back and long in the front, and for now I have an orange/red kinda. . . chunk (XD) in my bangs. I spike/flip the sides and fluff up the back and off I go. It looks fine straightened and all, but eehhh
So my main question is: Do you think black or any amount of unnatural colour looks terrible with the sweet style? And what of short angled straight/flippy hair? And what sort of style, colour and cut looks good with both sweet AND gothic? D:
My hair is naturally dark brown, so black isn't too much of a jump from my natural colour, and I look terrible in blondes, so those are out. but if you have advice for me, any at all, I would be glad to consider it. I have a hairdresser friend. xD It's also really thin though, so it looks terrible and scraggley long D:

I think the thing that really ties in your hair to the rest of the outfit is the accessories you wear, such as bows or clips or headpieces. And it's never a bad thing to have versatility in your hair, rather than sticking with one style that goes with everything.
I think that as long as it's possible for a headband/headpiece to lay flat on the top of your head, then your hair is okay.
And if it's really short, I think it'd look kinda cute if it got teased into little pigtails with bows on them. xd That might just be me, though.

Personally - I LOVE unnatural colors with lolita. My loli idol rocks pink/multicolored hair in a ton of styles on DL <3
I usually have pink highlights and I've always liked how they both stand out in my black hair and yet match my busy AP prints. I'm currently saving to get my strips redone because they faded, actually >_>
You could always buy a wig too. Instant hair change~ ♥

Sweet Lolita has TONS of unnatural colors, but they're mostly light/pastel colors usually wigs though.
Black, might look a bit strange with the lighter pieces but okay with the darker colored pieces. You can let your natural hair grow out, or dye it a bit lighter like a chesnut. But it might take a few treatments because your hair is black.
I have your hairstyle, but its since then grown out a bit, so I can more with it. sweatdrop
I believe light curls go very well with all styles of lolita. You can do tight ringlets if you hair was longer, but IMO I don't think they very nice o_e;. But when I had shorter hair, like Yossy said, the accessories did tie it all together and make it all 4laugh

I actually do have tonnnsss of hair clips. I get them from the kids store in the mall. My favourite set have little cakes on them. I should take a picture some time. XD
My natural hair colour is really dark, but I naturally have some light colours in there too. Hard to explain. But I find it very boring and since my hair is so thin it often looks scraggly when long.
I've had it blue before too! Allllll blue xD It was. . . interesting. Considering all I wear is black, it was strange. x3
I would LOVE to have white hair. But I'm such an odd shade of pale that it just makes me look awkward TT___TT White hair and sweet lolita = love

Mmmm~ Definitely with you on the appeal of white hair. I'm satisfied admiring it on other people, though. I'm afraid of pale colors on myself completely washing me out.
About 80% of the accessories I own that I associate with lolita are intended for wear by little girls much younger with myself. XD I love raiding the girls' hair accessories in any store... Got some barrettes with glitter-coated rainbow ponies on them from Claire's, and bow clips with Hello Kitty's face in the middle from Rite-Aid. XD

White hair is amazing on people white hair looks amazing on. which is definitely not everybody. But I've had every colour under the rainbow + black since forever. I got my brown back then just did it again. XD I just get so bored. D:

My hair is naturally DARK brown. At one point I wore wigs with lolita because I wanted to look cuter but since then I have found that by wearing wigs, I just look fake. My hair is long so there is more that I can do with it but try clips, headbows (alice bows), bonnets, and you can even do hair extentions. biggrin
I enjoy leaving my hair down and just accessorizing the hell out of it. ^_^

Heehee My aunt is the manager! Something that cost 6 munny normally cost me 1. It's quite the advantage. xD
I llooooooveee me some hair things x3 And some of the eyeshadows aren't bad at all. I have this one I got from Aunt Lori for Christmas that stay on without smudging or creasing for like 8 hours straight 0___0
I dunno why I don't go there more. . .

That's excellent! (Aw, and here I was hoping I just had to submit my e-mail or something so I get coupons.) I have always been tentative about buying makeup from Claire's, so it's awesome to hear that their stuff is actually good quality. Do you know off the top of your head if Claire's sells mascara with glitter in it? I have a big ol' shopping list (it's shrinking by day... just crossed Cotton Candy body spray off of it) of makeup and lolita accessories that I need to buy, and glitter mascara and glitter eyeliner are some that I haven't found yet. My next guess is Hot Topic if it turns out Claire's doesn't carry them. <<

I definitely know hot topic carries sparkley eyeliners of every colour of the rainbow. I've used it. In my experience it goes on slightly scratchy due to the sparkles, but well. I don't remember how long it lasted, sorry DX
But I would say Claire's is where to go for sparkley mascara, yeah! o___o I think they actually have sparkle everything. xD
and in the field of hair colour: pink. I'm going pink. xD

Sweet!! Thanks for all the help! I loooooooove pink hair!
Hee hee, I need to find some kinda temporary pink streak-in hair stuff. I know I've seen that at Claire's, but it was some time ago and I don't remember seeing it recently.
Also streak-in hair glitter. <_____<

Me too! For being a gothic lolita it's quite the switch! But lately some colour monster has crawled inside and laid little easter eggs in by brain o___e I think they're stuck there DX
Hot topic has that too! Comes in a small box with a mascara brush to comb it in. Only last till the next wash unless you have REALLY light hairs, though. DX Claire's has sparkle SPRAY. like every day. All the time. xD
