And be accepted as a Goth by their older peers?

EX:

Person A is Goth, and a sophmore in high school.
Person B is Goth, and twenty-seven.

Which person do you, as the Goth Community, respect more (in the regards of being Goth)?

And don't give me that "I treat everybody equally" s**t.
Be honest.

I guess it would depend on their mentality...(I could be wrong though)

I mean it would depend on how they act.
If they both were about equal then honestly, I would respect and understand the older one better.

I am a junior in high school, and I find that people who claim to be goth in high school, really aren't. In my personal experiences I have came across only 2 or 3 goths my age.
All of the other goths I know are in fact older, and definitely out of high school.

Why is there this huge obsession with "true goth?" It shouldn't matter who accepts you as goth or not. Personally, I respect people based on how they act, not how old they are or how they dress.

How dare I discuss the relevance of what makes a person goth or not in a goth guild.

Behavior and true opinions/true tastes would make the difference.
For some, Goth is just a fad.
Where I lived, Goth was the "it" thing for a while.
It was rather ridiculous.

Hm. I'm a freshman in high school, I consider myself goth. I suppose it really depends on the person. For some a fad, some a lifestyle.
I have plenty of college friends, as well as many friends younger as well. I think one of the best things of being goth is simply meeting interesting, different people.

So, I don't see why not. There can be highschool gangsters (Real gangsters. Not the style, gang runners). Punk started mainly with highschool kids.

Everyone worries too much how oother goths see them. Most goths I have met have generally accepted me as a goth. And if they didn't, so what? I have a group of gothic friends, but the majority of my very close friends is quite a variety of people.
Who cares? I am who I am for me, not for everyone else. That doesn't matter.

If they follow the subculture, listen to the music, and call themselves goth, they're a goth. No ifs, ands, or buts.
But personally, I don't respect anyone unless they give me reason to, no matter what age.

If I didn't know them and they both just walked up to me and told me they were goth, I'd take the older one more seriously because I'd expect them to know at least a fair amount of what they claim to be.

Haha, for a few yes.
However, there were a couple people for whom it was goth.
I just noticed big changes immediately after high school or in the later years of high school.
I didn't go to a normal school, so I was a major outside observer.

I've never had such a trend here, and I'm thankful for that.

i dress in all black. everday. yet ive been called emo punk goth all kinda of stupid names. i dont care personaly. im a freshman. i dress that way because thats how i feel like dressing, it just feels right to me. im not into to whole pink frilly foofoo crap so i would respect them both because they both obviously dress like that because they like it, which is exactly why everyone else dresses like that. so yeah.. i feel my point is made.

Really you must ask, does goth still exist. Evolution has taken place, and everyone has moved on in the trends. I wear Tripps and a Metal Shirt every day, but on the flip side I am a A student.

Went to Princeton for the Summer for classes, saw my first college goths. Died laughing as a interviewer followed them with a camera.
