The previous topic was acting weird, so rather than fix it, make a short term lazy soloution of making another topic.

This is something of a response to the winter based game idea thread, I thought I would try my hand see if I could create one you guys may be interested in.

A word of warning before we start, my dming experience is some what limited. While I have played the DM before, the sessions have been realitively short and this is my first attempt online. I have a fairly good grip on the rules though and if you feel you are willing to give me the chance I will be happy to try and DM this campaign for you.

RAGNAROK

Yggdrasil is dying, and the end is nigh. The dying world tree is blanketed in white snow who's freezing touch is felt on all nine realms. It is the end of time, and all know it. Ragnarok has arrived. The order of the universe unnerves and breaks under the emminent presence of death. Man seeking refuge in the halls of Valhalla make war with no rhyme or reason, slaughtering both foe and friend alike in a desperate bid to earn their place in the after life. Others, with no desire to invest in life after death run rampant with fullfilling their selfish base desires. The madness effects all races, as the dwarves grow paranoid, the elves indulge in mass suicides, the giants and other monsters raid and rape with no restraint, and even the gods themselves forsake their sanity to fear of the coming end. As the champion of your people you have been cursed with no other man being able to best you and give you your glorified warrior's death. When the Valkarie present themselves to you, you belive you have finally earned your just rewards, but are instead charged with a grim task. The gods are no longer trustable with ensuring fate plays out as it must, it falls on your shoulders to break the chain of fenrir and bring about the final stage of ragnarok. You are tasked to destroy the world.

Synopsis: A 3.5 d&d game that takes place in the snow and has a rough theme around Norse mythology. The story will take place around you, heroes and champions tasked with destroying the world. I thought it gave a nice twist to what heroes usually do, rather than preventing the end of the world, you are trying to make it come sooner in order to mercifully end it all. I will probably start you guys off level 10, as you guys are already heroes with stories being sung of your deeds and the task layed before you will require the toughest of champions. Though if for what ever reason the party would exceed six players, I may lower the level down to 8. I will probably run the story with solid begining and final destination, filling the everything in between with interesting stand alone quests, rather than try to fit eveything into a single flowing quest. I may also make some home brew content in order to make some monsters more friendly to the mythology and setting as well as create make shift gods which you may put out of their misery. Though any deviations from the rules I may display in a thread for you to protest if you find anything unreasonable. Just checking interest now and will flesh out more info if enough people find this game to their liking.

I am just going to put some basic character creation info up so you can begin to get an idea of your character. I will give the details of character creation tomorrow and begin asking Reevinja for a subforum.

Here is a list of books I have availble: PHB, DMG, DMG 2, MM 1-4 (1 & 2 are 3.0 though -_-), Complete Warrior, Complete Arcane, Complete Adventuer, Complete Devine, Races of stone, Races of wild, Races of Eberron, Frostburn, Sandstorm, Stormwrack, Planar handbook, Lords of madness, Magic of Incarnum, Spell Compendium, FR Shining south.

I also got Heroes of Battle, Savage species, Psionic handbook, Monsters of Faerun. However these books are all 3.0. But if you find something that interests you, we can update as needs be.

I don't want to limit you based on my libary, so if you can present me detailed information on what ever class or item outside these books you desire, I am more than willing to give it a look over and give you the thumbs up.

2: Synyster pope
3: Bamotaku - pending on books
4: Gan-kun
5: Joe-dude
6: Deorai Winterblade
7: Yurro - pending on books
8: Krahken

9: MT the Clown

It looks like the popular opion is the 8th lvl, 8 party. Sorry MT, you just missed the cut however if a spot opens up I will first see if you are interested in filling the spot before taking any other recruiting measure.

Character creation rules:

ECL: 8th (28,000 xp)
Gold: 27,000 Gp
Hp: Max Hp, any further levels gained will be rolled as usual.
Ability Scores*: 36 point buy OR 4d6, drop the lowest, 7 times.
xxxxxxxxxx* If you roll, you cannot choose point-buy. If you roll and get no score above 13, or a total modifier of +1 or less (after dropping the lowest roll) you may re-roll. (Ability score rules courtesy of Revinja)
Alignments: Any, so long as you can make it work with the party, the setting, and the story.
Pantheon: Norse Mythology. I belive there is a book with the statistics of real mythological gods, however I don't have it. If you are playing a divine class just send me a PM and we will set up home brew statistics (favored weapon, alighnment, domains, etc.).
Backgrounds: optional, 800 xp bonus if one is written (minimum a paragragh). An idea I liked from Revinja that I thought I would add as well.

Quick notes: Please label where you got anything outside the core rule books in your character sheet, or an accompanying post or Pm.
Also keep in mind that there is a rough theme of Norse mythology. While you are free to pursue whatever path you desire, try to give alittle nordic twist to anything that would seem out of place in the setting.

Ok lazy weekend over, now begins procrastination week days. I am going to try to get this thing going by the week end, though I willl refrain from promising anything.

Bamaotaku: Ok everything looks good

Krahken: I ran into the following problems

By my calculation you should havea total of 33 skill ranks (8 (1st lvl fighter) + 10 (2-6 figher) + 4 (7-8 exotic weap mas) + 4 (human first lvl) + 7 (2-8 Human))

However I count Skill rank total of 39 (10 (5 ranks search (cc skill) + 10 (5 ranks survival (cc skill) + 5 (spot) + 11 (Intimidate) + 3 (craft weaponsmithing))

Your receipt also comes out as so (also missing weights in parenthesis)

18400 +1 Full blade Acedic burst (100Gp (fullblade) + 300Gp (master work) + 18000 (+1 enhancement, +2 ability acedic burst)
9170 +1 animated Heavy steel sheild (20 (heavy steel sheild) + 150 (master work) + 9000 (+1 Enhancement, +2 ability animated)
1500 Gp Full plate
2 Gp Dagger
8 Gp Locked gaunlets (5lb)
2 Gp Back pack
1 Gp Waterskin
1 sp Sack (.5lb)
1 sp Bed roll
35 sp 7 trail rations (7lb)

Total= 29084 Gp and 8 Sp

The +1 enhancement rule also applies to armor.

Sweet. I'm ready to start this game up. I'm eager to see how this character does since I've yet to see another like it.

Krahken: YOu simply have to lose 6 skill ranks and your gold after losing the sheildwould be...

29084 - 9170 = 19914
27000 - 19914 = 7086

You will have 7086 Gp and 2 Sp to spend

Here's my character. The only non-core book is Complete Warrior. I cited what I took from it on my sheet.

Got several questions for the DM. My dragonfire adept's invocation "Humanoid Shape" allows me to take the form of any "humanoid" race (not Monstrous). There are a few races I am wondering about, considering either they are located in older books, or in books not listed being available.

1) Constrictor Naga- Oriental Adventures (later revised in Dragon #318, and I believe that it was changed into Monstrous)[Huge size, Improved Grab, and Constrict]
2) Stingtail Asabi- Monsters of Faerun (Burrow speed 30ft, Poison tail attack that does Con damage on failed Fort save, and confuses on failed Will save)
3) Gibberling- Monsters of Faerun (Gibber: Creatures with less then 2HD need to make Will save or be shaken, More then 2HD don't make Will save, but take -2 penalty on Concentration checks)
4) Dark Stalker- Fiend Folio (Sneak attack 3d6)

These are just a few that I can find after a few days worth of research that I thought I should point out. Also, I fixed a few things with my character so I think that my Bag of Holding won't be holding me back as much.

Yurro: For your change shape ability I will say...

1: No since the revision says its a monsterous humanoid
2: Sure go ahead
3: Go ahead, though it would change your size to small
4: I don't have the book, but as long as the only change to your character is the one listed (sneak attack) go ahead.

By the way I just want to make sure that you know change shape would cause you to lose your breath weapon

Synyster Pope:I don't quite get how you got your attributes, I have your attributes as (in the order they were rolled)...

15
12
14
11
15
12

Even with the +2 Con -2 Cha of dwarves and the 2 attribute increases by levels, I don't see how you got your stats.

So decided to get rid of the Cross class skills and and add a point to weapon smithing eh? Ok let me know when you spend the 13 skill ranks and I will review your character sheet again.

Just in case you didn't see in the last thread, here's my character's sheet. I've got a lot of fluff items, so there's a receipt in additional information at the bottom to make it easier for you.

Joe-dude: I ran into the following problems...

I calculated you Hp to be as so Hp: 108 (60 (12*5(fighter 1-5)) + 24 (8*3(Occult slayer 6-8 )) + 24 (3*8(Con modifier * HD)))

I also calculated your skills to be Skills: 49 (16 (4*4 (1st lvl)) + 16 (4*4 (2-5 Barbarian)) + 6 (2*3 (6-8 Occult slayer)) + 4 (human 1st lvl) + 7 (Human 2-8 )

However I count your skills to be Skills: 40 (6 (3*2 (Cc Knowledge Arcana)) + 8 (4*2 (Cc Spell craft)) + 5 (climb) + 3 (handle animal) + 3 (intimidate) + 5 (Jump) + 3 (listen) +4 (2*2(Cc spot)) + 3 (swim)

Also, you will need to switch Knowledge arcana and spell craft skilll ranks to qualify for the occult slayer classes

I see you having 5 feats, however I think you are only supposed to have 4, gaining one at 1st lvl, 3rd lvl, 6th lvl, and an extra human feat at 1st

The requirement for the dodge feat is Dex: 13

Occult slayer requires feat Improved initiative

You need a +1 enhancement on your battle axe before adding on abilities so the enchancement base price would be equal to a +3 weapon or 18000, not 8000. For returning throwing axe it would have an enchancement base price equal to +2 or 8000, not 2000. I will check over the rest of the receipt after you go over this.

So the status of character sheets so far is...

Character sheets:
Accepted: Yurro, Bamotaku
Under review: Joe-dude, Kharken, Synister Pope
Missing: Rock DS, Gankun, Deorai Winter blade

I don't think I have seen deorai at all. I may go see if MT is still interested if there is nothing by friday.
