Become a ninja and sneak in late at night at take back your printer/scanner power cable. ninja

Replace his (your) cable with a fake one, and take back what is yours, and then when his fake cable doesn't work, he'll be forced to go and buy a brand new cable for his printer as there are no more working cables available. Once he does this, you pull the switch once again, and swap your original cable back to his printer and take the new one for yourself! mrgreen
