I understand the reasoning: Promote good health.
Yet this isn't even illegal and it's a choice.
What I don't understand is, why doesn't Gaia just start erasing every thing they ever made?
Seriously, how about I go into everything else that they've created that promotes something 'negative'.

Gaia, are you gonna take away a grown mans cigar?
If you do, what... now smoking is easy to stop, that promotes that aspect. . .
I might not smoke but whatever. . .
These are pixels, if a kid is going to start smoking because they got a long drag, cig, or even a pipe on Gaia, those kids need therapy or something.
Also, they shouldn't just out right delete the items either, they should have given people a chance to get them if someone wanted one.
Sure that might be going against what Gaia wants, but they wouldn't be on after that nor be able to be traded/sold to someone else.
I might not particularly like this item, but I'm equipping the one I have anyway.

So Gaia doesn't want to promote tobacco use.
Yet Gaia's fine promoting. . .
- Drinking
- Killing / Gore / Murder
- Sleazy Outfits / Sluts / Pimps / etc.
- Whatever else people can think of.

EXACTLY.
I can strut around Gaia lookin' like a cheap hooker, but heaven forbid I top such an ensemble off with a cigarette!
Good health? Yeah sure, ok. Then smack a warning label on the items, don't ban them completely!
I know this is probably just because some investors decided they couldn't be associated with "promoting smoking" so they made Gaia do it since Gaia does, after all, love all its new money. But still. Get rid of ALL the "bad" influencing items or none at all.

I mean, even still.
Gaia could say the age to buy is 18+, depending on your birthday. Instead of allowing you to change your birthday, dunno if they allow it. They can also keep the item soul bound so the person can't trade it to their actual account if they're 'underage' on their main one, but make a mule that's 18+. If you understand my meaning. That's the legal age to smoke in America.

Yeah, I think I already own all the tobacco items anyway, but still!
The Gambino doll wasn't soulbound, though. I guess Gaia has yet to realize one of their own smokes the biggest damn cigar ever.

yeah its stupid to remove it all, especially since many gaians from a few years are passing the 18 line.
however everyone under 16 will have forgotten it within next year and the fags barely suit any clothing anyway so its not all that big a deal.
if you have all the cigarettes from before then why worry?

I just don't like hypocrisy. It's one of my buttons.
I also hate how (the USA anyway) is so gung-ho about anti-smoking campaigns, yet if you're turning 21 and don't get completely plastered society thinks you're a freak. Why is one SOOOO EVIIIIIIIL and one (that actually impairs your judgement...) is a-ok? This just brings up all those angsty feelin's in me.
18 is the legal age to buy cigarettes. I'm pretty sure you can smoke them at any age.

:/while I understand what you mean, I also understand the pressure of health pushed on 13 year olds. as this site is for 13 years and up removing harmful things like tobacco is an obvious thing. as far as I know that is the only "harmful" thing that can be removed for that sense, if they remove weaponry then gaia will loose customers. Edit: cops can take cigarettes from minors under the age of 16. its just not a common thing.

And there's the abundance of sexual items like the Alruna's Rose.as long as they aren't d***o's but innuendo's or play on sex its safe. alcohol hidden as other drinks are not a problem, if its portrayed as spirits that will get you plastered, then it would get banned.

If the kids are ID enough they're taken in to the station, not arrested -- but their parents are made aware. After that if they're caught they're continuously put through the cycle of being in trouble.

Gaia can't just half a** what they're doing, it's hypocritical and not to mention -- just doesn't fly with everyone.
