Hey everyone. ;]

Was wondering if anyone knew of any creatures with the ability to petrify as an extraordinary ability, supernatural ability, or spell-like ability? Not because it actually has spells, though (like a Dragon and Sorcerer spells) - just the three other types.

Pretty much the only two I can recall are the Medusa and Basilisk, and CrystalKeep doesn't sort by ability to petrify. xD.

I'll be hunting myself, but was hoping a person or two knew some off-hand.

Beasties: Medusa, Gorgon, Basilisk, Cockatrice

Just off the top of my head real qucik we got.
Cockatrice- its a low CR and a low DC 12, good first first-second level parties
Gorgon- Its specially nasty due to the fact that its in breath weapon form 60ft and used up to 5 times per day every 1d4 rounds. its also a decently high DC at a 19.

Those are a few I can think of off the bat I am sure there is a dragon with a breath weapon that has it... although that might be AD&D... Umm if I come a crossed a few more I will let you know.

Can't believe I forgot about Gorgons.. Those things annoyed me so much in one game.

Thanks guys. xD.

Keep em coming, if possible. ;]

Beholders have a petrification ray

God how I love Beholders XD.
One time me and My Party fought an Undead Beholder.
TWICE.
That was crazy.

Fiend Foilo: Obivously would need to be converted to 3.5.

Blackstone Gaint: CR 18 tough one but does have it. and a few other toys to detroy your high level party.

MM3:

Dust White: Bad a** seeing as its a constent arua around them. great vs clost combat fighters. DC 18 fort

That's about all I have so far I will have to see if there is more in other no monter related books...

I also possibly over looked some with Spell-like ablilities.

I believe the Grave Crawler from the MM2 has a similar ability, though i would double check on that if i had the book.

He is correct. Gravecrawlers have kind of slow version of it. Its con damage at a rate of 1d2 with in a 30ft arua around the crawler. DC 22 I can see why its a 16 CR. Once a target gets to 0 Con they turn to stone.

But again as a 3.0 book the MM2 would have to be brought up to speed. All be it easily done.

Thanks a bunch, guys - again.

That'll be enough for me. Though if you want to post more anyway for others, I won't argue.

There was a male version of a Medusa that does it. Rather than a gaze, it petrifies with each melee strike.

Honestly I pity the players that have to face what you are now planning.

That is more of and AD&D thing there is no 3.0 or even 3.5 update... (I can't speak for 4e) Other wise those guys are bad asses and would make great villains.

I might have to take some time out of my schedule to consider what she's planning.

Could throw it against you guys, ... just kidding.

I would have gone searching, but it appears as if you've had everyone already clunk through the main files. If I do come across anything however. I will inform you.

I know I had a game where my bard was petrified by Striders... I think that's what they were called... but that might be a spell-like ability, too...
