I made some with medium success and no viruses or anything. A friend of mine haves an amazingly useful thread about which offers are safe. I managed to snap at least 10 dollars of cash without problems 3nodding Unfortunely they don't love Canada and rarely ever they update the free offers emo

I haven't done any of the offers. I've heard too many stories about those offers giving people malware, and crashing people's computers. xp I sometimes buy the MC's with cash, but then again, I've been buying monthly collectibles (previously donation items) before these offers ever came out. I never buy EI's for some odd reason, just MC's. I do think that it's more convenient now being able to buy a cash card at Right Aid instead of having to send a $5 bill in the mail. (They don't like coins.) lol I support MC's because I like being able to help keep the site running. I am not, however, a fan of this new wave of consumerism on Gaia. xp

I understand that the advertising brings in money that helps keep the site going and getting better, but really, the Tampax advertising was just ridiculous. Consumerism is evil. What happened to the internet being a place of liberation and free fun?
I say all this as I wear Cash Shop items. rolleyes

Unfortunately, servers are really expensive. Moderate to good servers go for about $5000 apiece, and then they only hold about 100GB. Considering all of the users and posts on Gaia, and the fact that very few things are ever deleted, they must have hundreds of servers. That doesn't even include all of the proxy servers that they need. @_@ I really do understand the need for donation items (monthly collectibles). However, what I don't understand is why Gaia keeps saying that they need more money because of the new users. Gaia still averages the same amount of activity that it had 2 years ago, before the cash shop ever opened.

I buy most of my cash, and have been getting the MCs for a while now. I'm kicking myself because I forgot to get the MCs last month (realized on Sept 1), and they looked really cool. sad Most of my other cash shop items were purchased with gold on the marketplace.
I outright hate some of the new marketing. I was so pissed about the Venus Embrace, and tried to find like-minded people to protest. The first ad was quite sexualized and had nothing to do with the quiz that it was associated with. I also don't think personal care products belong on this site, which is more about media like movies, books, and games... and skittles, apparently. (gotta question that one a bit, but hey, we all like candy.) I've refused to do anything having to do with the Venus, and ignored the Tampax ad completely or I would have punched something. And I wouldn't buy the Venus IRL anyways because I don't shave, but that's beside the real point which I that I think it doesn't have a place on Gaia.
I haven't tried any of the cash earning things because it reminds me too much of all the games on Facebook which have switched over to an exclusive earning system to get exclusive items, and most of them seem like scams or things that I don't need. I understand making Cash more easily accessible, but risking getting scammed or a virus isn't really worth Cash to me. Saving up to buy it on the marketplace or "settling" for later generation EIs is a safer bet.

We had a good time laughing about the Tampax ad. You should check out that thread we made if you want a good laugh. blaugh
With all of the advertisements, I just take the items and never even consider buying them irl. I'm like you about legs. It's really idiotic for women to have to shave their legs. I wear long pants most of the time, so no one knows if I shave them or not. I do try to shave them when I'm in a swimsuit because of the social stigma attached to women who don't. I want to dig up the guy who invented the leg shaving thing and force him to shave his legs everyday for the rest of his life. stressed
