That is a day I will never forget. I was working in the school library... when we got this call, my co-worker's cousin worked in the building. So even though we were sitting in a school in Chicago, it was almost as if we were there, frantic with fear. He was never found.

We actually knew of it almost before it was being announced publicly. His wife had called my co-worker... Their apartment was one of those that was later evacuated due to the smoke and she saw it happen. She tried to go there but was turned back. She called my co-worker because she couldn't get anyone else in the family on the phone. Debbie sat with her on the phone for hours until she was told she had to leave because of the danger.

I hate to say this but even I forget sometimes, but when I'm reminded, it all comes flying back in a flash. It was a horrible event, one we should never forget.

I know I am a bit late, but yes it was a tragic accident engineered by maniacs. gonk gonk scream scream I couldn't think of anything worse that has happened, but it brings up a nice point the hijackers wanted to kill as many people as possible not demoralize us. If they hit the statue of liberty then think of how our reaction would have been, and if they would have would we be wishing that they hit the twin towers instead? Just a moral decision to knock your brains with, no need to answer me.

I was in fourth grade. My teacher told us all the sit down, she turned on the news and we all watched the video clip. After that, we wrote about how it made us feel, why we thought it happened.
Later, I found out that a man from our church was in a meeting in the world trade center and that he had died.
My school was in a panic, even though we were on the other side of the country, kids were convinced that we were next.
