I know that you are not supposed to eat or drink as it says in the Qur'an. However, my family has a bit of an issue with the not drinking of water. They think it's stupid and want a real reason why. Honestly, I don't know why other than it's in the Qur'an and Allah's word. Please, I need something better than "because Allah says so." It's not just for my family, but also for my own questioning mind.

Umm, I'm not too sure. I was thinking that maybe it might be so that we feel the thirst of the those who live in places where water is really scarce? It could also be that Allah is testing our faith and patience...but that goes for all others, too. I guess that's all I could say for now.

Okay, that makes sense. What about after much excersize? Is it okay to have one glass of water, so you don't get sick?

RubyLight Okay, that makes sense. What about after much excersize? Is it okay to have one glass of water, so you don't get sick? No. Either limit your exercise, or don't exercise at all. If you have to, then at least exercise an hour or half an hour before Iftar.

Usually i run a mile in the morning to kick start my day, but since there is no water in the day (and i am NOT running before dawn) i'm taking a break from running. I will resume after Ramadan.

RubyLight Thank you. I will keep that in mind. Actually this reminds me of a story i read. Muslim in Italy (i think) doing hard labour out in the sun in the day, and since it's Ramadan they're not drinking any water and their employers are worrying ><

How about walking around Wal-mart instead? Like go shopping at night and get exercise there? I often noticed people walking alot there when I was there...just an idea...

We used to have school during Ramadan before when it used to be later, but it never really created much of a problem to anyone. Normally, I'd finish my water bottle and then refill it and drink more than half of that, but during Ramadan, I have none. I get used to the thirst while fasting. Plus, you should know how hot it is here. It was 48 degrees today. biggrin Temperatures here don't decrease much before the end of November.

I see. For me hunger isn't nearly as much as an issue as thirst. I get up really early so I can drink alot of water.
