O.K. for those of you that live in the cities, here's an idea.
Fact: Most of the endangered birds in the U.S. live in urban areas
What can we do?: Make a natural backyard! Get rid of your fancy ornamental grasses and put in native stuff. Dig a little pond in the corner of your yard. Put in some native grapevines and other fruiting plants! It clears up CO2 faster, and it creates habitats!
Apartments!: Try to get permission for a rooftop garden, or if you already have one, pitch in and help it grow!

well the world needs to be a better place for people because people keep throwing trash but if we work together to solve our problems maybe the world will be a better place.

yeah. i have no yard (all community lawn), and a very steep roof. there's also no porch. maintenance cleans very well. hoping i can convince landlord that a couple of hanging things might be fun, but still in negotiations smile . will have to be content with my personal jungle of rejects inside, and working on mother's yard.

This is called xeriscaping, if anyone would like to look more into it. Great suggestion!

This thread made me think of this program which tells how to turn your backyard into a certified wildlife habitat.

Tis a lovely idea! I actually plan to live in a down-townish area when I finally live on my own. :3
With a tiny yard(so i can bike everywhere, and not have a huge yard to maintain).
biggrin
