I live in the largest city in New Zealand (Auckland), we experience peak traffic, traffic jams, and everything you'd expect in a highly populated area, yet I have never seen or experienced smog in our city, not that I'd want to.

There has been a big move toward advertising the use of public transport, with extending rail in suburbs that never had them before, and increasing bus routes. We have always had car pooling, to school, work, sport etc.

So yeah, I'm big on utilizing public transport, I take the bus.

This one lady from my mom's work had to go on a business trip to Japan, and she said that it was horrible to breathe there. She said it was so dense in pollution from all the cars, that it was terrible on her lungs. I'm guessing she was in a major city, however.

i avoid heavily populated areas unless it's necessary. i don't breath well (wearing a mask, or staying in a hotel room not breathing well). there are some noticeable changes in some cities that i hope will catch on - public transportation that works on alternative fuels while restricting other traffic is one. it was nice to walk with offspring while they were shopping and not have to have a conversation with them hearing me wheeze.

agreed. We cant really go around saying this though, because we cant blame them for having high prices, if they dont make enough off of each vehicle they sell, the whole company could go bankrupt and have to lay-off innocent people. If it wasnt such a hard time, it would be a good idea!
