i think i would be great if we all would suggest a book for everyone! ill start it off "Ishmael" this book changed my life entirely its about this man who reads an ad in the paper and responds to it and from that he is led on a journey through civilization ultimatly bringing him to the realization that society as it is, is on a crash and burn course

The Other Side of the Island by Allegra Goodman. Brilliant idea, and it got me hooked from the beginning. It's an easy read, but has a great ending!

A realy good series is called Maximum Ride by James Patterson. It has five books (so far), and it eventually (mostly in the forth book) gets into some global warming-ish stuff. It's a fast read, despite the thickness of the book.

Sounds like a great idea for a topic in the hangout.

i agree - this is probably a better discussion for another forum. however, i just wanted to mention the one that i'm presently reading: Tales of a Female Nomad by Rita Golden Gelman. sold everything after her divorce, and traipses around the world with nothing but a backpack and a laptop (to write her books), living with the natives of whatever country she's in. i could go for that.

i've got an author that one of our customers recommended to me: carl hiaasen. i've become morbidly fascinated with one of the supporting characters that pops up in several of his books. he's an environmentalist type, but in a completely warped way. funny.
