what are your opinions on terrorist groups like peta and alf? are they worth it? or do they send us all back a few steps?
PostPosted: Sun Jul 12, 2009 10:37 am

I think PETA and that kind of group is a little over the top, but the Sea Shepards are doing the right thing by saving the whales. I think that it is stupid to call them eco-terrorists or whatever. Unlike PETA, they are actually PREVENTING the death of amimals. PETA just trows red paint on fur coats. In my opinion, that does nothing at all. The sea shepards are heros. Not terrorists.

peta does much more than throw paint at coats. ever been to petakillsanimals.com most of the info and photos peta shares with the public is either from the 70's or made up.

im also not really a fan of the sea shepards, they are the ones that throw chemicals at the other ships right? i would be worried that they are polluting the water. but no, they arent nearly as bad as peta.

actually they throw butaric acid. butaric acid is just rotten butter that smells really bad for humans, but doesnt effect sea life at all.

Yeah! Its just rotten butter! Does that change your opinion at all? I hope it does, because i want to be on that ship the second I turn 18. I think EVERY1 should help the whales in some way, that would be mine!

I really think people who target those experimenting on animals and their families should be locked up, animal testing is a necessary evil, and hurting other people isn't going to help anyone, least of all the animals.

they arent testing on whales. thats just what they say. they take a few blood samples from their dead bodies and call it a huge contribution to science. NOT TRUE!!!!!!!!!!!! They have whole ships ment to process all of the whale meat and prepare it for consumtion. And whats even more absurd about all of this is that they kill all of these innocent beasts INSIDE A NATIONALLY DECLARED WHALE SANCTUARY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

i think he means testing on animals as a whole, not just whales
i do agree that animal testing is needed, many of my pets are alive today because of animal testing. many people dont stop to think that animal testing doesnt just help people, but also out loved pets.

Eco-terrorism... I was once called a terrorist when I was doing an internship repairing illegal trails in the Mojave desert. Guys on their ATVs would drive over what we just repaired and purposely throw trash off their vehicles right in front of us just to piss us off. When they were gutsy enough to say things to our face, they would call us such things as eco-terrorists. Which is interesting, considering we never once put barbed wire across a trail or did any such potentially destructive method. When they destroyed what we repaired, we would just put it all back together again and not say a word to them while they laughed at us. Who was the real terrorist here?

I'm not a fan of extremist groups, however. I once heard of E.L.F. "liberating" a bunch of weasels in the UK from a testing lab or fur farm (can't remember which) and released them into the wild... where this weasel was not native to the area and caused a lot of damage to the natural environment. This was only what I heard, however; whether it is true or not, I don't know. I wish I had a source. Would not surprise me though. Terrorists like this seldom think things through and are more involved with the action and danger than the future consequences.

The zoo I used to volunteer with was broken into by some kids, where they stole a resident red-tailed hawk, and released it into the wild, claiming that it was wrong to keep the bird caged up its entire life and deserved to be free. Little did they know that the hawk was an imprint, which means it thinks its human, and nearly starved to death before she was found a week later in someone's tree. She was already fifteen years old at that point; one of the longest living red-tails in captivity. She died three months later. The teenagers who stole her still see no errs in their ways.

Sea Shepards.. not a big fan of them either. I was enjoying the Whale Wars show until the Captain got "shot." It was clearly obvious that it was a publicity stunt, and he wasn't really shot. People like that drive me bananas and give people like me, who are fighting for animals in a more subtle way, a bad name.

PETA... never have liked them, and more than likely never will. That's an entirely different rant that will make this long post even longer. Until next time!

i cant stand it when peopl "liberate" animals by setting them free after a life of captivity all of a sudden. these animals in captivity are used to being fed and safe, putting a captive animal in the wild without training it first is just giving it a slow death. its bad for the ecosystem and its bad for the animal

and i think that many animal lovers could rant all day long about peta

The ALF is not all bad, at least from what I read.

SURE what they do is illegal, but they try to reveal the cruelties within companies such as fur farms and animal testing laboratories.

PETA is crap, and I'm not talking about for terrorism. They make things up, have a TON of outdated information, the only thing they are doing a good job on is caringconsumer.com

I WILL note, yes, I agree, bombing things and such, that's not appropriate actions to take much of the time, through I must note, there has not been a SINGLE death caused by the ALF, whereas the companies they vandalize/steal animals from tortur/ed animals.

Through I do agree that if they plan to release animals, they should do so in a location that is proper for them in terms of the eco-system... or put them in a wildlife sanctuary.

In fact, by being vegan, you're a terrorist in the eyes of the government, even if you don't protest or participate in the ALF. The AETA... D:
I was explaining to a friend about the AETA and how I as a person have to deal with this ridiculous law and he said to me "You're the nicest terrorist I've ever met!"
SO I guess you have to look at it this way

Who is the real terrorist? The person/people taking rights away from people, or the people trying to help others?

:3

Peace!
I told my friend about this
