I really liked the Black Jewel Trilogy by: Anne Bishop, I'm feeling like something close to that... but when I search dark fantasy... I get Anita Blake, Dresden and vampire books! Help! I'm looking for Medieval-like fantasy with dark twists and turns! thanks so much!

Medieval fantasy is my favourite! biggrin heart If you like magic AND royal court intrigue I recommend the authors Jane Lindskold, Robin Hobb, Tamora Pierce, Sherwood Smith, and George R. R. Martin.

I found a very intriguing book on my Barnes and Noble trip, Midwinter by: Matthew Sturges.
A captain of the Seelie court is banished to basically a prison camp only to be called back to a mission to redeem himself, but the catch is... its a suicide misson. The books deals with both the Seelie and Unseelie courts. The cover has the main character Mauritane with long black hair and black armor on the cover standing next to a female elf, (I think its supposed to be Raieve from the from the first chapter, but I'm not sure). It gets its title from the time period of the story all of this happens during midwinter and winter in this world happens only once every hundered years.

Another one I'm going to take a peak at is Black Sun Rising by: C.S. Friedman.
For over a thousand years, the colonists of the planet Erna have struggled to gain control over a land prone to seismic instability and infused with a wild, near-sentient natural force known as "the fae." While sorcerers and adepts manipulate the dark and light sides of this power, the Church maintains its stance in opposition to its use. As the dark side of the fae grows in strength, feeding off the nightmares and greed of the minds that are drawn to it, four individuals form an unwilling alliance to battle the source of evil.
