I've played flute for about 4 years now, and I'm swapping to oboe over the summer.
Any advice for reed brands and/or beginning to play?

All oboe-ists i know make thier own reeds, so i guess homemade oboe reeds are good ones.

I think pros make their own, students can probably buy them.

Call your local music center for more info.

    It'll probably be really hard in the beginning...I was really discouraged when I first started because I sounded like a dying duck. It took a couple months for me to sound like an under-the-weather duck, but apparently a couple months later, I now sound good? xd I hated it at first, but now that I'm a lot better at it, I like playing it. I guess I've been playing for around...6-9 months total now?

    As for reeds, while I prefer handmade reeds, I also use Jones medium soft reeds. Out of all the brands that I've tried, they're the easiest for me to play on with good tone.
