So, basically, I have been a captain for three years now. I'll be a senior next year and i am in love with guard. So I was wondering if anyone else has been a captain and for how long.
Also, feel free to post things that work on your guard, Like, packing equipment and how you run practice.

I've been a captain for nearly 2 years now. First year, they were awfully nice, maybe because I was in the guard longer than the rest have ? Anyways, it was tiring, we have bayonets with our rifles, which I believe are called Daisy Rifles? I don't know for sure, I know that they're air rifles. (no flags unless we're colour party). If you wondering what the heck I'm talking about, I'm a sea cadet of #47 R.C.S.C.C. Captain Vancouver. We have this rule where if someone touches our rifles, we're allowed to stab them with our bayonets, I'm not kidding, our Commanding Officer (basically the big cheese of Capt. Van.) actually ALLOWS us to do it XD. I stepped to down to allow another member to practice, just in case I leave for another job, but whenever I feel like it, I take charge of the guard ^^.
I use a cutlass during cadets, but when we have to practice our displays, I take out my rifle, Jacky ^^.

We never had captains at my school. Didn't believe in it. We thought it was silly and only made ego trips that were not nessicary. lol to this day my high school doesn't have captains. We had captains in the drumcorps I marched and the winterguard I march but it's an independent group so it made more sense

we have captains because our guard instructor is a band director for middle school in another city and can only make after school practices and games. and we have guard during band class so we someone who is in charge. and... sometimes she can not make it to a practice or two.
but, honestly we don't have that much power and we have to do more.

This will be my first year as captain, and pretty much, I help out my instructor and such as much as I can. I'm obviously a noob, but I hope I can lead my guard better than our last captain. :3

Our band/guard gets new captains every year, trying to keep it fair. but some may get it in the band 2 years in a row. guard has tryouts, then our instructor asks questions generally though, its the most experienced senior(s) and if we has weapons, we have two captains. me= rifle captain!

I made captain, this is my first year though. And I'm in charge of my captain from last year by a technicality my BD is sticking to, so it's kind of awkward.

Gunners are pro, and our Gunner's Chains excite us. And we know all the cadet cadences. @ Insane: I know right biggrin ? I love our bayonets, but this one girl in our division can't take off her bayonet or put it on with the correct timing, We use cadences x3. But she doesn't care at all, she made our guard look so bad that we had to kick her out. Another reason: She barely put any effort in our guard. Bayonets forever! Sadly it might change in the far future ): Bandie on the outside, Gunner and Guardsman on the inside. Forever Guard
