Well, I don't know about you, but when i draw, more so, colour my digital pictures i end to do everything in the same way, for example. I ALWAYS colour the skin first. Then i start to do the clothes i dislike colouring, big skirts and such, black clothing etc.
I get all the clothing done and then i start on the accessories..
Second to last i ALWAYS do the hair, and lastly the eyes. The hair and eyes are my favourite things to colour so in a sense i save the best till last for me <3
So, do you have any things like this? What's your most liked things to colour?

I always do the face and then any skin that is revealed, usually because they are the bottom layers, and clothes go over skin, so I can hide errors under the clothes. :3 Like such:

Lol, same here. I always do the skin, then usually the eyes.
After that, I work from back to font. 3nodding
Doing what you dislike first is a good idea too. I should try that.

First, I always lay down all the flat colours! This is to make sure everything looks good together. But, haha, I tend to always shade skin first as well, as seen here: That's because I want the skin to look nice, so I do it first while I still have the patience to spend time on it! Then I usually quickly do the eyes, then the hair, because hair also takes a while in most cases so I don't want to get impatient with it to make it look bad. Then I just randomly colour the clothing in whatever order I feel like... accessories tend to be last in most cases. C: So essentially, I do what I deem important first, because as I CG I sometimes get impatient to finish OTL

arrow Hmmm.. I start with lineart first. hahah...
then nothing will matter where I start coloring coz the lineart will limit where the color goes. XD
anyways, I still usually start with the skin first, then hair then clothing then accessories then lastly eyes. XD

Before anything else. . .
xCasondra: BLAAAAAAARGH! VINCENT! > w < <333 (( sorry if I'm assuming, but looks like Vincent. ;D ))
Back to topic. rofl
I always do it in this order: Skin, eyes, hair, clothes, accessories. :3
I love colouring the skin, eyes, and hair the most. xD But since I usually do headshot, it just came to that order. xD

xD Indeed, if that's Vincent then... <3 (It's beautiful regardless, I LOVE the motion and coloring of the hair, it really was well done.)
I usually do skin first, clothing, everything else, then hair. xD; (Oh thank GOD. I thought I was semi-OCD in how I had a routine about coloring.)

the cow says:for me.......... quick sketch, scan, lines, lines, lines and more lines...... then drop the skin cg first, then on to bigger areas of the pic like the clothes, and then finish all the detailing cg........ and then bring it out with the highlights
so my favorite part would be the highlighting lol because i can finally see the pic coming along nicely

Ah, yeah he looks just like Vincent, but it's a commission I am doing, he named him Syres. For the most part, this guy is almost exactly like him, at least that's how I'm drawing him. I kinda wish it was Vincent, it would be a lot easier to finish. neutral
Rose Koneko xD Indeed, if that's Vincent then... <3 (It's beautiful regardless, I LOVE the motion and coloring of the hair, it really was well done.)

Thank you, I appreciate the compliments, I was actually feeling really sad about this drawing, because everything I do I feel like the person I'm drawing for isn't going to like it.

hmm i paint everything differently every time. unless i'm doing a series of busts or something for free, then i'm experiementing with one specific thing and don't change much for a while......but most of the time i paint on one layer [photoshop7] and then make a new layer every painting session over that and just keep painting over until it's done. by the end i have a bunch of layers from all the different sessions, so i have the entire painting history on hand.
and xcasondra: how can your client not like it? even if they decide they don't, once they start showing the pic to people everyone's going to be saying how great it is and they'll come around.

xCasondra: Whut? That guy must have been really influenced by FFVII for that OC, since everything looks strikingly similar other than the no headband. D:
I think you're doing an AWESOME job. Don't worry about the client too much, they'll love it too. And if they don't. . .man. . .talk about iffy. D:

I used to do hair, eyes, skin, then clothing, just because it was fun doing the hair and eyes first.
Now, I do the skin first, any clothing, hair, any accessories and such. Most of the time I go for whatever is revealed the most, and fill in the details as I go.

Almost the exact same method here. Skin first, then clothes...but I usually colour hair before the accessories.
