Tell everybody what motivated you to draw, who inspires you to become better and who you admire as an artist. Give names, examples of work and maybe they'll be able to inspire someone else. It's a big world, so not everybody knows everybody. surprised
And I'm pretty sure a thread like this doesn't exist yet. gonk

I started drawing because of Dragon Ball Z. xd : I wish there were a more glamorous story to post about why I got into art, but that's pretty much it.
Right now, though, what inspires me is so varied. Anything I see that impacts me will encourage me to draw.
How about you, Maya?

I started drawing cause of Rainbow Bright, a tv series that is no longer in the making >.> XD very few know of it.
As to what are my inspirations now, it varies, on how I'm feeling day to day, its slightly weird, but sometimes I'll like a drawing one day, and like something totally different another day, so its constantly changing.
When I'm looking for inspiration though, I go to concept artist sites and see what they're drawing up, sometimes a drawing will give me the inspiration to fallow the same colour palette, or to go as deep down into details and the artist's pic that attracts me, or try playing around more with my forground, background, and shadings but like I said it varies so theirs no one person I like more than another : ) depends on my mood.

Also DBZ. XDD I just love that show, even if it took forever. I hate to say it, but I really wanna see the movie, eventhough they all say it sucks. emo
what inspires me are pretty varied as well, but that's because online I draw animish stuff, while in my profession I design. hell, currently interning at a bureau that specialises in waysigning. if you're looking for two extremes, drawing anime and making subway signs are good candidates. xD
First of Tetsuya Nomura, the big brain and artist of Kingdom Hearts, several Final Fantasy games and more. I also love the work of Peter Fabre, a Belgium autonom artist, who works a lot with ballpoint drawings. Seb Jarnot, who is a graphic designer/illustrator in France. Irma Boom, a graphic designer specialised in book design. And I love all the pinguin bookcovers. Currently also obsessed with Otto Neurath and Gerd Arntz. They are the brains behind the existence of pictograms and infographics.
and I could go on and on. xDD
links:
Gerd Arntz Web Archive Contains a whole load of the isotypes created by Gerd Arntz. Pretty awesome to see how much this all influenced daily life. Mijksenaar For those of you interested in waysigning, this is the place to go. Lust No, not porn, but a dutch designstudio with one of the weirdest websites ever.

I started with Dragonball Z too. Those were the days. I still have a few drawings from back then I think, but they're a rare find. And that's kind of a good thing because I hate looking at my old drawings.
Glenn Rane is my favorite artist and my main inspiration. He's just... AUGHHH. I wish I could meet him, tie him up and eat him whole so I could have his powers, his skill, his colors, every line, EVERYTHING. It drives me insane, but also drives me as an artist and overall it's a very pleasant feeling, I can look at his drawings for hours and never get tired of it. I love his art so much it's almost unhealthy. If I ever met him in real life I think I would break down and cry. xd I realize that it's not the most unique or special or amazing mind-blowing art out there. But it has something that appeals to me personally and that I feel a really strong connection to. I'm not sure what it is BUT IT'S AMAZING OKAY.

The movie was so terrible. XD I went to see it with a friend of mine opening night, and there were five people in the theatre. There are like, plotholes and continuity issues everywhere, and the best actor in the entire thing is Yun-Fat Chow, who's accent is really thick in the first place. XD
Designing subway signs? That sounds really neat.

chow's cool. cool
but I don't care. I wanna see it. I managed to see half of all the other dragonball movies and they were aweful already, so damnit, I wanna see the next aweful in line. Dx
I'm only an intern, so I don't design them, but just to see how it all works, so awesome. xD
The Frostinator so he draws for warcraft? see, this is what I meant. finding out all these wonderful artists. whee

It's more like a right of passage than anything. xD Having grown up on DBZ, I felt obligated to go see it.

MayaTara The Frostinator so he draws for warcraft? see, this is what I meant. finding out all these wonderful artists. whee He does. It was pure luck that I stumbled upon his gallery, I don't remember what I was looking for but it was unrelated to Warcraft. But I saw some of his drawings and thought "Ooh, so HE'S the one who drew these..." xd Although what attracts me to him is not what he draws so much as how he draws it. He can draw stuff I don't even like and I'll still think it's amazing.

I even saw gt. man, that was aweful. though DB itself I haven't seen. >>; but that's okay, I like it for the saiyans, and they only enter with dbz, so nothing lost. xD
The Frostinator that happens to me sometimes as well. looking for something else on google, and the stumbling unto something totally unrelated and finding it quite fascinating. xDD but that's a good artist, making stuff interesting when you're not interested in it at all. O:

Ayami Kojima(best known for her artwork for the Castlevania game series) inspired me to draw.
I adore her work, and I hope that someday I'll be able to be even a fraction of the artist she is.
I blame my obsession with texture, modelling paste, surgery videos, palette knives and the macabre on her LOL
Actually her art is what made me pick up a pencil and draw in the first place.
She's honestly my idol.

I started drawing because there was a girl in my school who was SO GOOD at drawing Sailor Moon, and I wanted to have my pictures put up in the hall like her.
Nowadays, there's a lot of artists I really admire, but have absolutely no reflection on my work. Why is that? Above all though, I would definately love to marry Banksy one day. He's the exact life-satirist that I love to see in literature, that in visual form makes me pee myself; it's just that swell. DA-wise, however, I think loish is awesome as well. She draws pinups in such flirty and fun designs [and is pretty herself what the hell], they're always so fun to look at.

if they had only known that bad voice acting and endless repeats would have such an impact on nowadays artists. XDDD
