So I doubt that I'll get many responses in time for my hair appointment at 3:30 today, but~

Maybies by my next hair appointment, you all would be kind enough as to help me decide what to do with my hair color.

Right now my hair is black/brown with a little purple cast that makes it shine a little bit in the light. However, I want something new. I've had it full black before, but mostly when my hair was long. My hairstylist cut it all off, and I really wish I hadn't let that happen. x.x I miss my long hair. It's grown back to about shoulder length, and I plan on growing it back out.

My problem is, I want a stunning color, but I want it to match my lolita dresses. I've considered dark purple, but I'm not sure if that would clash.

I have both sweet and gothic lolita dresses, but I'm moving more towards gothic lately. I'm wondering if I should go back to pure black?

One idea I had was dying the whole thing black with three white streaks that I can curl or braid. My little black tophat pin needs braids or something to keep it up, because my hair is so fine.

My hair cannot go to too light of shades though, because I have so much dye in it already.

Help please?

Thank you, lolita society. <3

Honestly? Really? Truly? I know you said that light shades probably wouldn't work because of previous dyes, but if you can pull it off and it won't damage your hair too badly, I vote that you go fully platinum. I know a girl who has dyed her hair straight black for years on end and managed it without damaging her hair or ending up with any odd tinting. She had a white streak in her bangs for a while, though, and it shows up lighter against the rest.

On that note, she was lucky. She's always been gorgeous, but streaks rarely work out all that great unless you go with a super narrow chunk in the bangs, or witches streaks. At least, that's my opinion. I've only seen a couple of girls manage it that I didn't cringe because of where they placed.

Anyway, that all depends on the stylist and your hair and face. I personally think that pale, pale blonde hair looks absolutely awesome in contrast to gothic lolita because of the color differences, and you can always add bright colored accessories to pump it up for when you wear sweet lolita.

Uhm. If your stylist says that light colors are right out, though, maybe the straight black with a very, very subtle [only visible in bright, direct light] red undertone? I'm not sure as to your skintone, but that tends to be attractive on most girls, which is why it seems to be the goth staple/fall back color. ^^;

Thank you. <3

I've definitely thought about going super light. That's how I know it wouldn't work, at least at my last stylists. She couldn't get it to go very light at all. That's one of the reasons I was thinking streaks, as kind of a test of white coloring on my hair.

My hair is kind of what you described at the end right now, only with a purple undertone instead of red. I like it, but it needs something new, something clean, and something that makes me look different. I like to change every once in awhile.

Thanks for the advice!
^^

Oh, and my complexion is very pale. -nod-

Hmmm. What about somewhere in between, then?
A nice, rich auburn red?

That's sort of the classic complement to pale skin, anyway. :3

I'm personally a fan of zany hair colors in lolita, but sometimes going back to something natural after a period of wild colors can be really refreshing, y'know?

Haha, Naturally I have very dark brown (aka everyone thinks it's black) with pink peek-a-boo highlights (that what the person called them, and I like the term razz
It depends on your natural colour, how damaged it is, and your patience level razz
You may want to go natural for a while because 1) it's new! XD 2)It gives your hair time to reverse the damage/grow out (it grows faster with no dye) and 3) you may get used to it and like it^^ Dark hair with Goth loli is a bit much, but their are always wigs XD (they have a lot that aren't half bad ;P)

Not entirely sure wether you will get this in time or not... Regardless, I think the best color for hair is some sort of caramel brown, with a very subtle orange tint at its lightest. It's probably not what you're looking for because you wanted to have something to match your outfits, however to get something for both gothic and sweet lolita could prove to be quite a challenge.
Another hair color that I truly like is a dark, dull brown. This might sound unattractive at first, but I think it might compliment both of your styles.

Example B: <3

But, it's whatever you decide. I hope that I helped in the slightest. (: Ciao. heart

I've had a similar haircut to the one that Skeptical posted (the first one). I have brown hair that likes to alter (it'll go from light brown to dark to medium in one year) and I used to wear a lot of colored lolita... But I dyed my hair color just a little lighter (because it's normally dark brown when I go to my appointments) and put black and white streaks in it. Black and white goes with about everything, and the haircut that Skeptical showed you (the first link) would probably go great with any outfit. ^-^ <3

I'm not sure if I helped or not...

Well you could always do a deep red and have black peices. Normally just the deep red(if its a bright enough color) will stand out though.

That also would depend on other factors, like what hair color goes well with your complexion. But you can't really go wrong with some sort of natural hair color in either styles, where as getting unnatural colors can clash with either style of dress.

I would suggest a deep, rich, chocolate brown! Like, seriously chocolate. People will be like THAT LOOKS DELICIOUS AH IT IS HAIR WHY CAN'T I EAT IT.

I have a question-how do you get your hair to grow,I tried dying my hair blonde but it turned red so I want to grow it enough to get rid of the red. also does anyone know any really light pink hair dye? Most of the pink hair dye i've found is to dark.

Really, any color could look good on you and go with any outfit providing it meshes with your complexion. Blonde or Redhead doesn't exactly "match" a pink or green lolita ensemble, but it works because it looks natural on the person. Check to see if your skin is warm, cool, olive, tan, reddish, etc and find a color that compliments it. I've seen ladies with bright blue or green hair wear outfits and it takes a minute to realize they aren't just another brunette because it works so well with their skin tone. If you can pull it off, go with a deep red. Deep enough that it's in the same color wheel as the natural auburns, but still vivid enough to stand out. Like this. http://www.hairfinder.com/haircollections5/shine6.jpg It works well for winter. Plus, I mean come on, unnatural red heads are hawt. :3

FOR GROWTH:
Extremely healthy diet, low stress and vitamins, especially supplements that are made especially for hair and nails. Also, good end condition. Breakage can keep your hair short, so condition well. Potions don't work, nor does anything that claims to make hair grow super fast. That's determined by genetics and only slows down from poor health, stress, age, etc. If the fastest your hair grows at your healthiest is a half inch every two months, then just be patient. Average is about a half inch a month.

Source: I use them. They look dark, but on blonde hair, they turn out about a cherry blossom color. DON"T leave it on too long or heat/wash with heat/hot water or else they will come out too dark. They stain, so be careful, lay down newspaper and keep it off your skin. Don't go to bed with wet hair or use white pillow cases, even with a light pink, just in case.

lol, I have those too! Front and back under the brown. I'm going all candy apple red soon so I'll kiss it goodbye, but yeah, so cute! I love the term too!

Use the last one if you are not blonde or don't want to bleach. It does everything in one step and comes out like this.

http://img685.imageshack.us/i/pinkb.jpg/

The first one is good for maintaining that color, or for starters if you are already blonde/bleached. DO NOT leave it in too long or use heat. Use a test section of hair. Wash it off immediately and see the color. Then repeat until you get your shade. I went about 2-4 minutes to keep it a light pink. If you leave it on too long though, it won't get any darker than the pic of it online, a bubble gum neon color, which will fade to light pink.

Manic Panic's colors run lighter than they look. This is Red Passion for example- http://img40.imageshack.us/i/cosplaywn.jpg/ actually a darker pink, not a pinkish red.

BUT BE WARNED! Several of Manic Panic's colors glow under blacklight, including that pink color!!

So if you don't like that, use the middle one. I have less experience with it though.
