As for the bed space thing... I've always been partial to the floor. It's quite good if you practice an economy of free space as one can put away the mattress so much more easily (no... cots usually suck, don't they? If not uncomfortable then they're noisy, and futons are just awkward) freeing up the space a large bed would take up for whatever else (Yoga, miniature golfing greens, twister boards, work space... ). Also a sleeping surface can be so much more easily protected from various kinds of mess, I think ninja That works well with some things that can be done with twister too, come to think of it... ninja

Color? I've always found it impossible to choose any one over another... but lets go with the bottom-most color here
