I don't know. It has always been Kah-lan to me and always will be.
And I've always like the name. When i hear it, the first thing i think of is her long flowing brown hair. Kah-lan just sounds flowing and brings the color "brown" to mind for me and when i hear "Confessor" i think white, so the two compliment each other and the name just always sounded....right, to me.
Kay-lin sounds....i don't know, forced. Like the hard-sounding letter 'K' doesn't belong with the sensitive '-ay' sound. The way "kay-lin" rolls off just doesn't sound like anything Kahlan is, i.e. strong, powerful, important, beautiful, resolute, or anything else you can think of.
Confessor Kah-lan Confessor Kay-lin
Kah-lan sounds more bound to the role of a Confessor. The name sounds better in title and in context.
But like Goodkind said, its not about how he intends it, right? But it sure would avoid disputes XD
