i have a suggestion
i don't know about other members, but i feel kind of...obligated to be gentle in criticisms in the gallery forum. i guess what i mean is i'm really not sure how much criticism people are willing to take when they put their art up in the gallery--or even if they want criticism at all.
i don't at all mean that i would be rude, but without truthful criticism of what looks awful in a picture, nobody is ever going to improve.
maybe we could devote a subforum just to harder, more focused critique? like each thread is devoted to just one picture, and the artist knows when they post there, that their art is up to be torn apart. again, i don't mean comments like "YOUR ART SUCKS YOU FAIL AT LIFE," but i just want to keep stating that truthful, somewhat harsh criticism, is what a lot of people need. sugarcoated critique just boosts your ego--it's not a kindness to the artist, it's just plain unfair.
all that being said, the gallery could be a place for artists to post up their work, for people to see and comment on, without the artists having to worry about people picking through every detail of their work
but again, this is just a suggestion XD
